Today i am continuing my yearly audit of my coloring books which involves re-writing the list in a brand new journal and going through each book to make sure I have the finished page count right and that I want to keep the book in my collection.
Today is Part 7 and we are doing RJ Hampson, Creative Haven, Teresa Goodridge and more. And I destash another one!

On the wonderland book with the alien ship I would find a Mr.Bean sticker or print one like how he gets dropped to earth in the beginning of every episode.

I like using colored pencils in Marjorie’s books. You can base in water based markers to make it easier then go over the top with pencils to hide the streaks and shade.

I enjoy these videos so much. The commentary is very engaging. Your flip of the zodiac got me thinking - I wonder how many of these beliefs, originally based on various cultures have been altered. I was surprised to see a Native American zodiac. I may have to do a deep dive on this one - smells of colonization and based on non-native perspective. Native culture varies so much based on historic territories and varies within aboriginal land bases. Not even all the critters on that zodiac are found across the US. 🤔 add in that zodiac is based on some form of calendaring where native culture is based on seasonal cycles and the presence of cultural resources (hunting, fishing, gathering). As we see today, seasonal availability of resources are changing. Sorry for the ramble but ya got me thinkin’ 😂
Don't apologize - I was thinking the very same thing about that one. I don't think "Native Americans" had a zodiac. To lump every tribe together and claim they had one agreed upon spiritual belief system is ridiculous and like you say...smells of colonization. It's very "Dances With Wolves" if you ask me and demeaning to individual Indian culture. I won't be coloring that page. The Chinese Zodiac is accurate as is the one we all know and love so those are good pages to color. But that Native wheel thing is just silly.
I have 6 Teresa Goodridge books and I love her style but now that my collection has started to grow I don't reach for her books as much. Although I do like to color her pages in Fall/Christmas time.
I'm not that into Astrology but that book is so beautiful! It's on my wishlist.
Fantastic worlds is also on my wishlist..looks like a gorgeous book. Alessandra Fusi has a mythogoria book coming out next Tuesday. I'm very interested to see what she does in it. Thanks for another great video 🥰❤️
Astrology books tend to be really gorgeous if by a good artist. I find it interesting although I don't really dive too far into it. But there are some great Astrology pages and books out there! Fantastic Worlds is Alessandra on a couple cups of chamomile tea. LOL. It's like..Alessandra! We KNOW you can draw! Can you please just tone it down a little so we can COLOR it??? I've seen several pages from Poison Passions and it is BRILLIANT. Absolutely gorgeous.
@HappyCatastrophy I am coloring a page in Poison Passion right now and it has some great pages! It's the first book I have by her and once Fantastic Worlds goes back in stock on Amazon I'm buying it 😊

My problem with Teresa Goodridge.. is that she's just not a very good artist. There are a lot of mistakes.. perspective changes mid scene, objects way too large or small, lines that don't connect. The scenes are cute, but it bugs me to no end. It wouldn't matter as much if the pages were more whimsical (like the gnomes, those are fine, except I don't like gnomes lol).. but if you are going to draw a greenhouse the door better line up with the frame and not open at an angle that is impossible, sidewalks need to be level with one another and not have one that randomly runs up a hill that doesn't exist, pumpkins shouldn't be the equivalent of four feet tall, and doors/windows need to have the same number of panes all the way down.
