The monastery was built well before the castle. Anyway, the ruler that built the monastery built it after he went to Mount Sinai so that's why the name Sinaia. Oh and if 2000m is above the clouds, that's the best view from that spot and it's a sea of clouds in front of you. And very close to Sinaia, there is Busteni, another small town and there is also a castle there, Cantacuzino Castle. And it's a pretty town, somewhat different than Sinaia but nice houses. The view of the mountains is better than in Sinaia and there is a cable car there too but you go up to another spot. And it's a great place to start hikes on Bucegi Mountains. Just to tease you, search for Malaiesti. Anyway, Happy New Year!
Oh, interesting!!! We’re definitely searching more about the Sinaia’s surrounding things to do when we return to Romenia (hope to do that in hotter months hahah)! Thanks a lot for the infos and for all the comments so far, we’re learning so much from them!!! Have an amazing new year too, wish you all the best!
We really weren't able to visit some places we really wanted to and our list is growing more and more for the next time we return to Romania: Sighișoara, Timisoara, Săpânța, Constanța, monasteries, Corvin castle among others...

Verdade, não mencionamos o ano especificamente, mas foi em 1877.
