My Grandma used to use these in the lower sectors of the British government and she was complaining up a storm about how you lot were handling that 😂 She was like “NO you’ll crease the paper, use two hands while handling the paper!” And “How filthy is that thing? We’d never be allowed to let it get like that.”
Memories of the 1980s, sat in the back room of the church hall as a kid watching my dad using a machine that used this principle. A very messy process as I recall, especially when removing the used stencil.
I am happy that your video is about an A B Dick No. 77 Rotary Mimeograph Machine and NOT a spirit duplicator machine. My father was a Lutheran pastor who was given this identical mimeograph machine in 1953. Mom typed the stencil on a Royal KMM 18" carriage typewriter. It made excellent copies. He did not use the ink reservoir but hand painted the ink onto the drum before applying the stencil. It made very even printing. Spare paper was interspaced between each copy to prevent the wet ink from getting onto the next copy. I still have the Royal KMM 18" typewriter in excellent working condition. Dad donated the mimeograph machine to the Santa Fe Railroad Museum in Temple, TX. It was donated to him by a Union Pacific Railroad inventory manager that saw that the older mimeograph machines were being returned but then discarded as trash. I noticed that your mimeograph machine is missing the handle to turn the drum. 😞
These were most commonly used in public schools to print assignments and handouts, up until the mid 1980s when they were replaced by photocopiers. I remember the handouts from Kindergarten and 1st Grade.
Tengo creo que ves un mimeografo manual tiene muchos años quien me podría informar de que año es y creo que todavía funcióna está en guacara Carabobo Venezuela
I've been considering one of these since printer ink is so damn expensive. Curious about the cost of this. I've seen DIY water based fluid recipes. Water base is supposed to be better on the machine. Primarily the drum tank type.
@@mmpoggs2033 The tattoo printer process would work with a Gestetner, yes. You'd need to produce a Gestetner-specific top lable but we haven't tried to do so. Our manual Gestetner has too many other problems.
La respuesta es fácil. Parece manchado por ambas caras pero solo lo está enteramente por dentro y solo deja salir por donde es poroso y se filtra la tinta creando así las letras o lo que lleve el estarcido. Saludos

lmao I'm surprised to find another fan. i had to know what mimeograph printing was since its mentioned so much in the light novels
So this is how they made those shitty worksheets you could barely read in school. Amazing. Now it all makes sense
That's exactly right, yes!
Would have been nice to have some narration instead of just music

amazing! I was searching for a video of a mimeo but I was only finding videos of spirit duplicator
We still had these in the early 1980’s in Lowes Kentucky. 😂
East Texas as well lol! Class of 86!
They need to make that smell into a perfume. Id buy it.
From my childhood memories these prints smelled like methylated spirits
I love the music choice🎶🎶
Soooooo.....how does it work?
Does anyone know where can I find the wax paper to use for my mimeograph from the 30's? Thank you!

Where did you find ink for this machine? I’ve been looking everywhere and no luck.

कितने रुपए की है
I'll agree with the othw commenter here. This machine was manhandled and disrespected in the making of this video.
Me sorprende que el stencil este empapado de tinta y no manche las hojas en blanco.
