If you can't find GitHub Copilot extensions, like I couldn't, it's because it's no longer required to download Copilot in newer version of VS despite what (outdated) documentation might say. Simply log in, there is a button near the top right of the window as of mid 2024. You may need to refresh your credentials after logging in (or restart).

There should be a way to accept suggestions word by word. Copilot sometimes create suggestions that fill the entire screen, and most of the time only the beginning is correct.
E.g. I'm going to make a method, and it creates the correct signature for it, but then it also want to fill in the full implementation too.

I love the way Copilot let you create a bug in the code that calculates the birth year without even cautioning that the algorithm is not reliable.

The slash commands are extremely enticing, but from the site it looks like they're only available starting at the second paid tier, is that correct?
If so, that's quite unfortunate. :(

Unable to view Github Copilot Inline chat (alt + /) or Ask Copilot option in my visual studio (version 17.7.6), although I have downloaded the extension pack and I have the subscription.

I do not see the extensions from the extension menu nor when I download the extensions they do not install, despite me having the latest version of Visual Studio Professional installed. I could only get GitHub CoPilot chat installed, from the Visual Studio installer.

Yes I believe GitHub Copilot is now integrated into newer version of Visual Studio. You just need to sign in and possibly refresh your credentials. Might take a restart. That worked for me when I couldn't find any extensions.

Good video, I realized that I hadn't installed the chat. A small suggestion to the author is to work on pronouncing "suggestion" correctly. Luckily, the subtitles worked flawlessly.

Hi all, Does anyone know how to export the response of Github copilot chat in Visual studio as a report. As there's no built-in feature, is there any way to do it with customization? Much appreciated for any leads.

It's not much use for php development or any other language that has had updates in the last 3 years. It doesn't know anything after Sep 2021 (it's May 2024). it only knows up to php 8.0 (which isn't supported anymore, the latest version is 8.3.7). I'm guessing this will be the same problem with all languages.

Oui pareil, c'est moins pratique a utiliser, surtout quand on le voit fonctionner dans VSCode ou IntelliJ. Ici, pas de chat a proprement parler, l'inline suggestion accessible si authentifié, le chat (quel chat?), bof bof
