Thanks for the most comprehensive BC1000XL electrical repair video on RUclips! I purchased the same model from Ebay, it chipped OK but the SF was not functioning. After changing many electrical parts without success I was finally able to get the schematic from the dealer. I discovered the PO bypassed SF buy running 12V to the middle switch above the feed chute. Removed the wire and everything worked as it should.
You're very welcome Rick. I'm glad it helped you out. I have complete repair manual from the local dealer for the machine as well. That's time saver! Cheers.
Have you tried adjusting the shear bar on your machines? I replaced the knives and tried to set the bar according to the service manual. When the bar bolts are tightened it moves back to the original position. The bar is not contacting the new blades but the spacing is about 1/2 what the manual recommends. ? BTW animals like to live in my chipper and chew on the wires lol.
Have you tried to rotate drum to align knife block with opening and slide the knife block out of the drum a bit? I will try to film it next time doing it. Rodents are huge issue if you don't have wild barn cats around)
Hi mate great vid thanks I'm here in New Zealand and have a bc1000xl 2013 model. When I push the green button the feed roller will run for about 5 seconds then stop. If I hold It down it will run continuously. But also no reverse or stop on top control bar. Any ideas would be a great help? Thanks alot
Hey Dallas. I did change rear lower control bar sensor but unfortunately i didn't film it. There's one electrical connector down to the switch and couple mounting bolts. Depends from the model and year could be 1 or to switches. They known to go bad over time as well.
Hello, I have a vermeer bc1000xl, but the motor turns in the opposite direction and the the working hours go down. What could that be? Plug connected wrong?
Awesome set of videos on this issue, thank you very much! My 2004 BC1000XL has been intermittently having this issue…and then reverting back to operating normally. Something is on its way out. I’m about to dive into the system next week and am wondering a good place (or set of search terms) for sourcing the green switches (part number in google doesn’t give you much) and the micro switches. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks for the awesome videos!!
Hey Tanner! After New Year Holidays, I can give the part number for those micro switches I used as replacement. I have Vermeer bc1000xl repair manual with electrical diagrams, I can share it with you via email. Cheers!
I have a 2011 bc1000 and yesterday it started acting up. The feed roller will not pull it brush unless i hold the green button. Where should i start checking?
@@calebjacobs392 Have you checked those switches I shown in my video already? Sounds like circuit is open for the feed rollers, That's why you have to keep button pushed to operate FWD speed. There couple switches right at the bottom of the feeder pan for lower control bar, those two known to stuck open or closed permanently. On my 2004 Vermeer (Cummins 3.3) they are located at the left corner of the feed pan. Check wiring and withes next. I have more checks to do but do those first. Let me know.

@@PistonShack What vibration do you have, is the chipping drum out of balance?
They always vibrate a bit. We service bearings and checked the drum. >seems okay. Do you have that much vibration on yours as well?
@@PistonShack No vibration that I notice but I heard about this from others.
