- A round up so far of the 205 GTI Hill Climb Car.
This is the famous ex Benetton F1 test bed machine that was used by two F1 engineers in the early 90s.
Electronic items developed on this car back then helped the F1 team to gain knowledge and speed up the testing process.

Amazing car and driver!
This was one of the very best cars in UK hillclimbs in the 90's. Qualified for the Top 10 Run-off if i remember correctly. Nothing sounds better than an Mi16 engine at full pelt (I own one of the surviving 405's)
the french made some great 16v engines in the 90s.

I remember seeing this car at Loton Park back in the early 90s the speed it approached corners and then shed speed was like an open wheeler-Plus the noise-Must dig out my old home handy cam video tapes.
Would be great to see as when this was king of the hill back then it was kind of before everyone had a cam

A '90 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9LT LHD is all I ask for in life.. The newer ones are absolute GARBAGE and look like ABSOLUTE garbage compared to it's older brother.. I have a friend here in the states that got one and it was so great honestly. He upgraded the engine and drivetrain which just made the car ten times greater than it already was.. Anyways thanks for sharing this with us all!. 🙏🍻

Peugeot really had some genius engineers in those days.
Used to own its bigger brother, the 309 1.9 GTI.

Remember seeing Toet drive this up Shelsley, was always mega quick for a hatchback.
I bet that was great to watch back then as it was mega power for the time setting some amazing times too. 31.02 is the best time Toet ran iirc at Shelsley mine is 31.52. He had the amazing TC working back then which really helps off the line.
@@rs__daz that time is testament to your own preparation and competing, to be honest. 0.5 seconds down only, with no TC... In hillclimb the first 64 ft is everything!! Top job.

Why do you think he drives a 205. Because of this one from back in the day he told me. Colins is a very modern build compared to our 205 and has a lot more bhp. I keep him on his toes mind 🤣

C est une comme ca je reve deja 200 ch sur un 106 c est impressionnant comment tu met les gens a l amende mais j aimerait tellement le faire avec un 205 mi 16s turbo forger j en et vue une a la reunion ca pousse un truc de fou il avait etait obliger de changer tout le trein avant sinon ca tenait pas le 405 mi 16s booster a 400 ch rien ne suis niveau trein roulant et donc faut tout repenser la voitures
Does it still run the variable length throttle bodies? My own mi16 is on bodies, mapped by Sandy Brown on a Satchell inlet. Love the thing to bits, sound better than Vtec imo.

Every nut bolt/ wheel / etc has been thought of. Even the disc brakes are very thin and not suitable for anything but a hill climb run in the uk.

fila1445 Gti engine - heavily worked works mi16 head. Mass Racing engine. Engine cost around £20,000 in 1991

We want to add traction control on it which will come with the new Motec ecu. So much time can be made off the start line where I struggle without TC.
