- Some V8 engined Rover SD1's leaving a local club meet.
The first car is a Holley carb'd V8 engined 2600.
The second one is a 3500 V8 EFi engined Twin Plenum Vitesse with Rimmers SS sports exhaust sys
This is wat U call real cars those rovers look and sound bloody nice especially the black one
rover sd1 V8 best car ever in my opinion. A pleasure to drive.
Dont forget the smokeless two stroke oil (1%) in your fuel as anti corrosion additive when using modern ethanolized e5 and e10 fuels in older cars. ( You might ruin your SU carbs / EFI and the fuel pump with the modern ultra dry fuels! -- so use 1% two stroke oil as additive!) In Germany the Lotus and Jaguar Club does so!
love these old sdi rovers
Ahhh the Vitesse ❤
My dad had one when i was a titch.
I remember him saying back then that the Vitesse V8 was the most exciting car he'd had together with his 77 Capri 3.0S
Always liked the look of these cars. With the v8 it's almost a 3000 SUX.
6000 SUX because bigger is better 8.2 mpg an American tradition, loved robocop when I was a kid lol
i love all the old long car's
They just don’t make them like that anymore. A car that sounds that good would give me a lift and a boost every time I got in it. Good day or the worst, this has got to make you feel 1% better about life 😀😀😀
Lovely looking sexy car of the 80s , loved them. Never had one though , they were beasts 👍
second one's sound gives me chills.
That black one tho 👌
True english car. The sd1 V8 is a truly uplifting car to drive:-)
I had two. The last one was black and was immaculate. I wish I still had it.
My father had the vanden plas version of the SD1... I always wanted the vitesse, beautiful street sleepers .
Had one of these best car bl ever made.Think I could convert one to electric with 100kwh battery and 60mph ín 4 seconds very strong body good rally car
Nothing sounds better than an american V8......
Nothing beats the sound of rubber on gravel and a V8
the sound is immense
Sounds like Tankfest at Bovington - in a nice way of course )
I had a few SD1's over the years and the only good thing about them was the V8 engine, which was actually an American V8 Buick 215cu/in from the sixties. The build quality was dreadful with leaky windscreens, rusty doors and sills and terrible electrics.I don't think I ever had one without a wet boot carpet:)The 2600 and 2300 six cylinder engines were junk they had a terrible reputation for seizing camshafts due to a tiny non return valve in the cylinder block which would block up with sludge.Saying that I loved my V8 Vanden Plas EFI it looked lovely in Moonraker blue and beige leather.
Was that last car too leave E redge? They didn't make them in 88 surely? The 800 S were out then
That one was mine. There were some that were 'registered' in August 1987 onwards meaning they were E reg but they had been manufactured in 1986 and stored in a field somewhere I imagine. That one was around 80th from last to be produced in July 1986.
So for a short time there were SD1's being sold alongside the 800.
@@BiggerBadderBrian wow interesting. Sounded lovely. Was it straight piped? Sounded just like a 5.0 mustang
@@peteramberley9952 It was a JE Engineering custom made stainless system, still with bends and silencers. JE Engineering seemed to have a knack for making nice sounding exhausts. The engine was also a gently modded 3.5JE Engineering product.
music to my ears .
My god that noise makes me wish my engine wasnt in bits at the moment!!
Your never late with a V8!
*you're. The contraction of you are. It's really not difficult.
@@markfox1545 yeah I've learnt that in the 8 years since I wrote the comment. Thanks for YOUR concern though Mr grammar police
I want to buy one. Vanden Plas in Silver V8 only. How??
1:30
Sound very similar to a Ford Mustang V8.
Better proportions than the Ferrari Daytona
I had a D plate 2600 VDP, lovely car but wet weather handling was dire, my 2.8 Capri was safer
Is this cross keys Newport wales
No, Hatfield Pverel, Essex
Five and drive, rude not to
What noise!!!
jealous
Despite there many faults a black or moonraker blue twin plenum has serious rear view mirror appeal, the Vitesse was a ‘mans’ car if you know what I mean
*their. It's not difficult.
@@markfox1545 English teacher in sea
ive got the black one now
Have you? E888OWY? Dont suppose you could send me a photo? I miss that car.
That's nothing......
why are rover people so weird, the sd1 was great shame fuel and cash are a killer
"why are rover people so weird?" *proceeds to write weird sentence composed of random words*
