Very Interesting video, ABR should be recommended for twitch. Especially for those who can't change the quality settings at all (bottlenecking). I'm very glad this ABR feature is in OBS studio now, it deserves more credit.
The problem is it doesn't generally give you the option to turn it off. I can accept a little waiting at the start for a video to load, what I can't accept is my video looking like trash because my internet periodically slows.
Yeah i find it surprising that tv manufacturers in tandem with streaming app developers don’t sell and market larger buffer sizes for you to configure… Seems like a no-brainer option to me
Great video. Incredibly clear and siimple. I came here because I was trying to find the answer to a question. Perhaps you might be able to help me. If I were to stream a video at 720p60 6000 kpbs and a viewer watched it at 480p30 would s/he see a worse quality stream than if I had streamed it at 480p30 6000kbps? I guess that adaptive or dynamic frame/resolution settings aren't exactly the same as bitrates - and there might be dozens of other variables to consider - but all other things being equal is it best to optimise for a lower fps/res stream if the majority of your audience view it that way? Or is the adaptive downscaling of streaming services like RUclips or Twitch just as effective? Would be most grateful for any insight.

Quite helpful video to understand ABR and how streaming works
