  • My fire extinguisher was small and over 10 years old so time for a new unit. This KIDDE extinguisher is good for most household fires and I recommend one for your homes and vehicles. On Amazon: amzn.to/3TIWZ5S

    5:01 Thanks for explaining the mounting bracket. I have a Kidde fire extinguisher and I wanted to make use of it.

      Glad to help and that bracket is a little weird but holds well.

    I really appreciate your no nonsense to the point video. I just bought this extinguisher and like you I hope I never have to use it.

    Another useful tip: every six months shake the extinguisher a bit to break up the clumps of powder that accumulates on the bottom. This is especially needed for dry chemical. At a place I use to work I had to do it monthly, but 6 months is enough to prevent major clumps. I always do this when I can.

    I had two car fires, both were in my old Ford Fairmonts! Lol. First the dash caught fire, and second was a leaking carb. You'd think after first time I'd get one but no Lol. I keep a small one in my car now all times.

      I am an EMT and stop to help at accidents and twice the vehicles burst in to flames. I do not want to be in that situation again!

    Water and dawn dish soap acts as foam! Dawn dish soap adds weight to the water in a garden pump sprayer

    I just did the same thing! I had small old ones and just bought a couple bigger new ones. Great minds think alike!😂

      Right on! I figured now is a good time for that video as people are starting their fire places and will be burning candles and such.

    Since it states “multipurpose agent” I assume it’s a ‘powder’ type. Those have a tendency to settle and pack down. They should be shaken on a regular basis in order to avoid a failure when you need it. You suggested checking the gauge on a regular basis so it would also be a good time to shake them.

      I had just commented this, lol. I did it monthly for my workplace when I checked them. Definitely good knowledge to have.

    I notice that you left out the hardest part ... how do you get the bracket closed?! 😩 I have been fighting this for the last 30 minutes. It just seems too small to close. Any tips?

    • @solarcabin
      @solarcabin  Год назад

      Lol, Tip it up and back at the top so it is in the grooves and it will snap shut. It is a tight fit.

      Thank you@@solarcabin ! I am not strong and the only way I managed was by closing it first and fitting the extinguisher in once it was closed. But I managed! Thanks a ton for the video 😊

    I'm debating whether to building your A-Frame or Walden cabin (I've bought plans for both). I have time because I still haven't bought the land nor decided where to buy the land. There are cheap lots in Missouri, Missiissippi, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona--just to name a few states.

    • @solarcabin
      @solarcabin  2 года назад

      I like both but honestly the Walden has more useable space.

      @@solarcabin That's true--and how much longer does it take to build a wall and a roof.

    • @solarcabin
      @solarcabin  2 года назад

      It depends because that A Frame may take 2 people to construct where the Waldan can be built by 1 person a lot easier and safer.

    The strap on my bracket is too small to go around the extinguisher. If I force it in, how do I get it out quickly?

    • @solarcabin
      @solarcabin  Год назад

      Make sure the top of the extinguisher is seated all the way in the bracket and the strap should be snug.

      IKR! They actually do make smoke and fire alarms that you can set to call you or the fire department now.
