For the 1st time, i am seeing a Minister speaking sheer sense and nothing else. No politics at all. He is clear and confident in his approach and vision. A welcome trend, a light in the dark politics. A big salute to the FM and TN Govt.

But the fact of the matter is apart from increase in Excise Revenue from liquor leading to increased alcoholism in the State for which TN is infamous, there is nothing much to crow about. As per the latest TN financial position, dues to discoms have increased, Foreign Direct Investment is not forthcoming and there is no coherence in industrial policy. By next month Ford unit at MM Nagar near Chengalpattu will be shut down and thousands will be out of jobs. At Gujarat, Ford has sold their unit to Tatas but in TN, talks could not progress any further. In industrial front, Maharashtra, A. P. and Telengana are attracting lot of investment. But not so in TN. This TN government talks about freebies in education and health, which I support. In health, it is a neutral outlook. But in education, why does the State Government at TN oppose Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya which are established for poor students? The answer could be that politicians are running schools and overcharging for sub-standard education. So I am not whining. But there's a lot of work to be done. So walk the talk is the need of the hour.

I'm very much impressed by the clarity of thought of Dr. Palanivel Thiagaranjan. The Chief Minister of TN needs to be complimented for appointing a professional like Dr. Palanivel Thiagaranjan as the Minister of Finance & HRM. These are lessons which can be learnt by the other States & the Union Government. You can't expect Politicians with no administrative experience & knowledge to head such key portfolios like Finance Ministry & HRM, it's best left to Professionals. I only hope he gets the political support to do what he wants to improve the GDP of the State of TN.

Apart from everything What I adore abt him is that he gave all the credits to previous government his opposition in fact. That's something lost nowadays in present day politicians.
The introduction itself tells it all. North Indians will never learn anything about the South. We south Indians learn and become adept. I am a Tamilian, born in Kerala, grew up in the then Bombay, studied in BIT Mesra lived abroad for 28 years and now back. The importance of being multi-lingual is phenomenal. On another note Palanivel is a good CM material or more.

An important factor for anyone is travel opens up your mind n makes u more tolerant to others, unlike the Laloos n Yadav's n Mamta from other states who r only interested in their caste, creed etc

TN is blessed and fortunate to have Mr PTR as the Finance Minister. Hard hard to see any politician who is so knowledgeable, intelligent and brilliant.

You should definitely try reading how he failed the companies he worked. One can't handle a big state when he doesn't have an ability to handle a small company.
Compare to ex finance minister mr OPS . Mr palanivel is eligible candidate. Can't deny the usa companies he worked went down. But if you compare with mla candidates in tamilnadu he is much eligible candidate for this role. I could even say he is better than nirmala sertharaman ji without a doubt

This is my first time hearing a minister speaking and mostly concentrated to the state rapid development . People like him should be the right hands to spin the wheel of governance in future and I am happy that he also cared about the todays youth and their empowerment
Dr.PTR's speech reminds me of EX-CM Mr.C.N Annadurai's quote "coalition governance in centre, self governance in state" , "one cannot decide the welfare schemes by just sitting in Delhi", as he pointed out lot of factors are behind it ,it will vary depends upon the socio_geographical factors, "System should go from bottom to top not the other way around" 🤌🏾

I hope more such personalities come into India politics. There is no dearth of Indian talent be it in cochin or Kohima. Just enough dearth of leaders who could dare to keep intelligent people around them. A talented team member can elevate a team, whether it's IT or politics. Mr. MK Stalin shows it's possible, but unfortunately many other state leaders are afraid of smart folks around them.

Yes, agreed bro...But Tamilnadu is already a developed state compared to almost all of our Indian states...Most urbanised state in India...Second largest contributor to National GDP...Better at almost all of the social indicators like Health , Education etc than the rest of India(infact in top2 or 3 in many)...TN - The factory of India...almost 17% of the factories present in india belong to TN...Above all,TN is one of the State with lowest Inequality ratio...Benefits of development are equitably(ofcourse not equally) distributed among most of the population,not like the northern or western counterparts where wealth gets accumated only with few ...

I respect a politician who is able to acknowledge the achievements of opposition parties and acknowledge the shortcomings of his own party. That is one of the hallmarks of a true democracy. No chest thumping and discrediting others which most Indian politicians do, and many Indian lap is up in nationalistic fervour. That is the downfall of India, but sadly so called educated people do not see these issues.

There were many like him like before they were hounded out by goons from bimaru states. Sir Ramasamy Chetty Kandasamy Shanmukham Chetty the first Finance Minister was hounded out he was the best that could have happened ever. He was much more than Narasaimha Rao/MMS or PTR is no were even near him. Educated principled South Indians dont want to do anything with Delhi. I am an hardcore supporter of BJP coming from Gujarat, but I got Say this man is a true Gem. Someone like him should be at centre of Indian Politics. Anyhow it's good to see that post 2022 many Indian States are aspiring over becoming a trillion dollar economy by the end of this decade. Comparing with Gujarat I think we have a slight edge bcuz of our diversity in manufacturing sector and exclusive Bussiness atmosphere in societies. But yes in terms of education and research we are decades behind TN. I hope all states constitute there best to inclusive development of the country
