This time I went travelling I used a regular size notebook and I also only carried one insert because otherwise it ends up too heavy with the junk I collect 😂 Thank you for your videos, they're so informative and satisfying to see 🫶🏽 I've learnt so much from your past fountain pen videos - I could decide which fountain pen was the one I needed and ask the right questions when buying my first pen! Sorry, I got sidetracked 😅
Aww this makes me so happy Karla! You’re welcome and happy to share some insights about fountain pens 🖋️ Yesss definitely having one insert is key, I find that having too much to bring while traveling is overwhelming too, I’ve learned the hard way haha
You are quite talented! Did I understand correctly that you live in Berlin? I was born in Berlin (I'm American), but grew up in the US and now I live in Croatia. Enough about me. I discovered you today after I've been binge watching travel journal videos. I'm preparing for a trip to Greece in a few weeks. I just use a standard wide TN from Simple Stories that has an hours schedule on the right and lines on the left. There's a specific reason I use that one that I won't waste your time here telling you about. I like to journal one page per day of my trips, which I know doesn't leave a lot of room, but it works for me. I like to journal each day and so I just leave space for photos that I add later when I can print them. I have a mini printer, but I found I rarely actually used it on my trips so I quit taking it. I am not an artist, but I wish I was and I absolutely love your illustrations. Take care!
Love your set up, especially sketching side of it. When I’ve looked at the last sketch I thought that it would be great to have a little photo of that place you’ve sketched, but from a different angle or perspective ☺️
Yes exactly! I actually put in a photo and some ephemera around it and want to play more with a combination style to incorporate more sketches :) thanks so much Marina!
This was such a great video! So beautiful! I also love the sticker book! I’m think that your illustration is amazing! I am going to use my tn for short trips on The coast of California this spring and summer!
Thanks so much for sharing. I love your Hamburg sketches! My husband and I are travelling around Australia in our caravan. I’m recording my travels (with photos and ephemera) in a standard TN. You’re video provides much inspiration!
I love the art of the travel journal book. I preordered it on Amazon and felt so happy to see sweet Job in there too. Great techniques, great book, very pretty snapshots. I literally woke up at 5am to go through it properly (my undisturbed hours). I tried out the hobonichi techo last year, it was way too small for me. I'm trying out an A4 this year.
Good idea! The passport can be really small imo. I found it more challenging and by preference the standard allows more space to document especially if there is a lot to journal about.
I love my regular sized Traveler's Notebook! I was wondering about your penco clip - does it leave any marks or indents on the pages when you use it? :)
Thank you! Hmm I’m not so sure because I don’t leave it inside as much. I only use the penco clip when journaling then take it out asap because I’m also worried I would possibly stain my TN cover haha
Since you are illustrative gifted, perhaps if you travel to Japan, you can make an anime journal of your travels there. Harvey Pekkar did something similar in his Cancer Year comic, of course the travel iteration would be much more up lifting than his.
I like how your pages aren’t crammed full of so many items that nothing ends up standing out. Beautiful work with your sketches!
Thanks! I'm a layout nerd and love to tinker with Adobe InDesign so I guess that reflected somehow with my journal pages

I'm currently in Switzerland with my first TN and I'm watching this for inspiration haha
Cool! Enjoy!
Passport for day to day practical things, but I need the standard for travelling and long form journaling.

where do you get your stickers?
Im currently in Japan again and gonna invest in a standard size. The passport size isnt working for mw I had to switch to a Stalogy for a while.

Your drawings are so great 👍😍
Thank you so much 😀
I do have a passport TN and I think I’ll use it for my NYC trip that’s coming up soon
Oooo sounds good!
