Lake Baikal is the largest freshwater lake by volume. If a person combines lake Michigan and lake Huron which are physically the same lake with a five mile wide connection, it could be argued that they are combined the largest fresh water lake in surface area. Since there is also a physical connection with lake Superior and other lakes down to the Atlantic it is hands down the largest fresh water surface area system. The surface is where we sail, play, fish, and swim.
@@jerryodell1168 They changed it then cuz when we were in school Superior was the largest. But then again Pluto was a planet then too. Now it’s not classified as a planet.
@@odelloutdoors3424 The point is who cares how much water there is in the lake by volume, we can't enjoy the water two miles down. We only enjoy the surface and we have a lot of surface water to enjoy and You have learned to use and enjoy. Great Job.

It was at the end of a dead end road too so not many people venture down there.

Actually 2nd largest fresh water lake, 1st is in Russia, more water than the 5 great lakes combined. But who cares with a view like that!
