Never go alone to sign divorce paper. Never be alone with the divorcing spouse.
Poor woman, such a bright promising future lost because of the coward of a husband. So glad her military brothers and sisters were there for her until she was found.
She wasn't ever found.
Cheaters ALWAYS think the other person is cheating
The ex husband was a narcissist and this is their pattern. People never believe.
Yup!!!
Imagine walked out from his first wife and children on Christmas day.
I believe!
Locked up for life, without parole, like he should be...smh
Leaving your family on Christmas Day? That's a profoundly cruel and egotistical thing to do to your children! The complete lack of empathy in this man is a gigantic red flag.
Yes. That really spoke of his character true narcissistic
I would never date anyone who's in a relationship (married or not). If they 'radically' end a prior relationship, there's a big chance they'd do it again...and to me, because they only care about themselves, and whatever outcome they're after.
I bet she was really grateful that’s all he did and didn’t spend a year plotting her murder and going through with it!
@@annetteyoutube742 I agree, but I’m sure he lied to Shirley. He probably told her his wife kicked him out and wouldn’t let him see the kids. Or, he probably didn’t tell her about them at all. But at least we can check their true status these days!!!
He is a horrible person
I love how his family removed his guns but didn't consider that virtually any place in the USA has a gun shop in easy distance and he could just buy another
Here is the thing....any person living in an unsatisfactory marriage has the right to leave.
Whether being female, black ,civilian or military...a person has the RIGHT TO LEAVE.
She had the right to pursue a career and life. The did not deserve to be killed by anyone.
Amen. She was an adult and made a decision
Tell us something we dont already know
@r marky
I second that...
and, raise with a 4 pack of charming Charmin.
Incels on here think that women who leave deserve to be erased..
"The pot calling the kettle black" comes to mind with this POS!! The WORST part for me is that her BODY was NEVER found...I just can't fathom how HER family couldn't even have a proper burial. 😢💔😢
What a piece of garbage, he got off easy. RIP Captain Russell!
@StrawHat Luffy I consider life w/o parole easy b/c he is still alive. He took everything from her and those who loved her. This "person" gets the privilege of being alive, something Cpt. Russell does not. He still gets to: eat, drink, watch tv, read a book, converse with others, take a shower, sing, laugh, smile, dream, and most of all he has the opportunity to be forgiven and receive eternal life through Jesus.
@@fumasterchu12 But he cant do what he want , he can’t make love to a woman, can’t go out for a Walk whenever he likes , So really his life is Shit & so it should be be , honestly I prefer LIFE IN PRISON COMPARED TO THE DEATH SENTENCE, EVERYDAY HIS LIFE IS SHIT & HE WILL PROBABLY WISH HE WOULD HAVE GOT THE DEATH SENTENCE, IN PRISON THEN HE STARTS ANOTHER SENTENCE & THAT IS TO ROT IN HELL SLOWLY 👍🏴
@StrawHat Luffy try
@@fumasterchu12 - Well people who kill one person gets life with the possibility of parole, he received more because it’s federal case, and he deserves it no doubt. If you listen to the “Crime Beat” podcast about Canadian crimes you won’t believe the justice system there is so lenient, for a murderers. For a murder of one person the punishment is 10-17 years. Only murder of a child gets more.
@@fumasterchu12 it’s not easy being in prison cut off from society, and killing them takes WAY more money then just having them live in the penitentiary.
He was so convinced she was having an affair that he had his mistress stalk her 😂
The irony lol.
She didn’t have any self esteem!
Facts lol make it make sense ??
Maybe she helps him..😢
He was hoping to “catch” her because it was considered a literal crime in the military at that time. She would’ve got into trouble if she were caught cheating while serving. He wanted to “catch” her in the act so he could use it against her. What did he get discharged for, I wonder?
Sad that such a military personnel disappeared in a mysterious way.

RIP and thank you for your service 💙💙
Why was Shirley with him? Shirley is a "9 out of 10" on a bad day, and he is at BEST a "3." Shirley deserved better.
Surely Shirley deserved better.
It’s a sad reality, so many people get bogged down by a trash partner who isn’t worth a damn and gets jealous and cruel when their partner tries to keep growing as a person.
I find it funny that you think love is about looks.
Why are so many military going missing without the military searching or trying to find out why?
He wrote that whole terrible list when she wasn’t even there. When she was literally in another state working and not even around the house ever. This jerk just wanted to control her. A very sick man.
The genuine admiration of her commanding officer is very heartwarming. He absolutely recognize how being a black female with in the marine was.exceptionnal and how hard she had work to get there.. She probably did have a lot of allies there but surely he was one.
Focusing on race, distracts from accomplishments. Acknowledge her by the content of her character, not color of her skin.
@@vilheim11 I think both of you are correct :))
@@vilheim11 Overcoming racism is also an accomplishment. People who get triggered when this is recognized are exposing their own biases and prejudices.
@@thl205 I said focus on accomplishments. Not color of skin. What’s racist about that? Isn’t that what mlk said?
Also, You can call me whatever you want, put any label on me. I really don’t care. They are just names and it doesn’t bug me :)
@@vilheim11 That’s not what MLK said, if what you think he meant was “ignore racism even exists”. For example, he was a big supporter of Nichelle Nichols (Star Trek) breaking the barrier by being the first major black character on TV. He campaigned for affirmative action, even wanted quotas to increase black jobs in the government.
The Raven .25 was a cheap Saturday night special - not exactly the kind of weapon to impress a US Marine officer.

Sad this type of crime still goes on within our military smh
You mean domestic abuse ? And domestic murder?

I'm only 3 minutes in, and I know it's the ex husband.
Yeah, I don’t think many people want to walk a ten mile round trip to the store, carrying paint cans back, even a marine. Plus the divorce, plus the blood stain, etc.
I pretty much knew right away that her ex husband was guilty.
lol yup...325 in... it' the balding dude lol
DITTO!
Ray Charles could see it was the husband!
Fantastic FBI work.impressive
They should have waterboarded him from the get-go!!! The BEST part was when they said, He will NEVER get out of prison alive!!
Semper Fidelis, The Marine Corps ethos means "always faithful". Capt. Shirley was, her ex-husband ROB, UHHHHNOT SO MUCH! Dude deserves life in prison, for breaking that oath of being always faithful!
I think the point is he needs to be in prison because of the murder, not for breaking the oath. Just my opinion
We eere
why did they not investigate the stain found in the tool shed - as the first port of call, rather than later down the line - the one that looked suspiciously like blood ? i find that ludicrous !
agreed
Yeh, that seems odd, unless they just didn’t include that in the narrative. Nowadays, If they take it without a warrant any evidentiary value they could have gotten from the stain would be inadmissible in court. Even if they get permission. I didn’t hear the say anything about a warrant in this episode and it was probably different back then too. So, who knows.
Also, if the husband was a person of interest why he wasn’t surveilled. They did that back then. They would have seen him do something, go somewhere that might have been helpful.
@@frozenboot68 ... Is government housing exempt from requiring search warrants? It's government property, right?
they didnt do a DNA swab when they first saw the stain in the shed because they were not MP's. also at the time, what they were doing was asking him if he had seen her. there wasnt an official investigation going on yet.
Sniffer dogs could have perhaps been used in those mines
Why didn't Military investigators immediately scrape the red stains in the shed? This is basic crime 101. It's unbelievable that no one followed up on it until too late and everything was cleaned by muriatic acid. Shame on them. I feel so sorry for Captain Russell. She deserved so much better.
11.01 they asked the actor to "look like a guy acting tough that doesn't look tough .
Seems like such an exceptional woman.
Why didn't they check the floppy disk earlier? And reported soon. Maybe captain Shirley was alive then
What is the motive for murder? He gained nothing from her death.
Senseless murder.
You can't live, if living is without me?
He was looser!!.
He was a looser!!!.all the way!.
Narcissistic psychopath. Narcissists are very vindictive; they can't take rejection or criticism of any sort. When they can no longer use someone as a source of narcissistic supply, they leave in a very cruel fashion. You don't leave them, they leave you.
Sounded like it had to do with racism and sexism.he couldn't take a strong black women wearing the pants and having the audacity to leave him. Made him feel like a loser
Loss of control was the motive.
Here, in this case, colour of the officer does not matter which proves not everyone is racist.. God bless all the people who stood for the truth and justice. May Her Soul Rest in peace 🙏🏽
Caucasien man killed his African American wife with the intention of blaming her own race for killing her. Now, that’s the part that really got me
He was 'convinced' that she was having an affair? Hmph, someone's got to take a look in the mirror.
Floppy Disk. Lol
I expect better from an officer of my beloved Corps. This is shameful on so many levels.
I can’t hear the dialogue the sound balance is so off.
Doesn't really matter. It's narrated anyway. The actual dialogue doesn't add anything
to beat copyright. The narration is even worse monotonous one sentence at a time.
I love how they pronounced Schuylkill County and manahnoy city.. lol I live in Schuylkill County for 21 years and currently live in manahnoy city.
So sad, may she continue resting in peace
Yes but why go alone to sign separation papers with someone who will no longer be a part of your life should have taken someone with her. Even to hang out nearby they say she was smart intelligent and driven. This guy seems to be a WACKO.
She got with a Loser alright!
We all think that we should have could have etc but very often we assume it will be OK, but in the end it is not. Unfortunately this happens again and again.
HA HA. Around minute 5 to 7, it seems that USMC even standardizes raincoats.
Ikr
They worried about having g a case ? I kinda doubt that
Things to do to commit murder:
1. Don't make a list of things to do to commit murder.
I love her work habit. I have that kind of work habit. I would rather sit in my car 20 minutes early rather than try and be on time and risk being even a minute late. Not sure why I go that hard, but it suits me
More people should have that kind of work ethic.
Seems almost like common sense to me - you never know what might happen, so it's best to be ahead of the game!
@@K-Riz314 More people would if they were paid accordingly. Companies give minimal pay, they get minimal effort.
It takes all types! Your habits come in handy, people like you who are reliable get looked for immediately when missing unlike those who are always late or disappear for days on end.
@@TahtahmesDiary that’s an amazing point. I watch a ton of crime docs and often broken habits are the first alerts that something could be wrong.
Bro had his side chick follow her around because he thought she might be having an affair ironically delusional
This is so great. 🎯
The investigators were STUPID. One of the officers was missing they saw redish stain in the home And THEY DIDN'T COLLECT ANY SAMPLE of that Stain. WTF... Any Rookie would have done it.
at the time when the stain was seen for the very first time, those were not MP's, therefore would not have had the tools to take a DNA swab.
He doesn't deserve to ever leave prison
Highly doubt the general can run a three mile
I bet he was denied pomotion and forced out. I also bet he wanted her.
..does nt need to.....he s got a chaufferd limo....
I wonder how did he find out where she was living. But, I wish she wouldn’t have trusted him and went with him alone. But he was a stalker, and he likely would’ve found her where ever she went. This happened in 1989, but it’s still a big problem for women nowadays. I’m so glad her life mattered to her fellow soldiers, especially her boss!!
as a Marine Capt she had been issued a personal side arm, but, she would not have allowed to store to weapon in her quarters. All fire armas on base must be secured in the unit armory.
The husband. Don’t need FBI to solve this.
I am writing this mail made i=
Come on, can't yougive some break, instead asking forcomment and replies every single video.
But, solving and being able to prove on a court ofaw are two different things.

@@ann-mariebaker118 have you seen the Episode? It was her good friend and college that found her missing.
Why would she marry him? He left his first wife and kids on Christmas Day 😤
I wonder what was the reason for the husband’s removal from the Marines?
What constitutes a less-than-honourable discharge?
Just a guess but I would say they found out he was a racist,I think number 26 on his list confirms this, but this was not how they found out.He may have married her to try convincing them he was not a racist, but one cannot just switch this off.The film repeats his love of the Marine Corp. but never once his love for his wife.I would suggest that racism is rife in the military, also, that they know this, and in some cases accept it.
@@khutt19 I hate to crack your world view, but racism is not the answer to every woe in society. To constantly revert to racism as the reason bad things happen is the easy way out. When this all happened the world was not WOKE!. To say he was a racists, demeans and defames her, by saying she was not smart enought to see through his act. I met her twice and she was intelligent, charming and professional. He was and is a sociapath. I know, becuase I worked for him.
Hey Andrew- Then Capt Russell was relieved of his command as a result of basically conduct Unbecoming of and Officer and a Loss of trust and confidence in his abiity to lead Marines. On the day he was relieved of command he was also restricted to his quarters on base. He was stationed on a SeaBee Base in Gulfport Ms. He packed a few items and left which put him in an Unathorized Absence (UA) status, along with disobeying an order from the Bn Commnader who restricted him.
After a brief investigation he had charges of insubordination, condcut unbecoming, fraternazation, unathoruzied absence, and more.
@@michaell31wouldn’t his infidelity in itself have been a punishable offense in the Marines back then?
@@user-od5fh3gn4d It would have been, but, we only had strong suspicions an no hard evidence. Sadly his then wife (Shirley) did not accept these charges as being accurate at the time I served with him. During his dismissal, she drove in from Parris Island and confronted us about falsely accusing him of misconduct. It seemed as if she was totally blind to his true conduct.
At 25:17 what he says is soo true spot on imho.
Why didn’t they do a DNA swab from the stain in the shed when they first saw it
And, did they try luminol in both Sandi's car and the storage shed? Apparently not.
Highly Suspicious!
That was when the technology was still in its infancy. I don't think it was so widely used at that time.
In the early 1990s they knew how to analyze DNA but they didn't have the luxury of PCR to amplify tiny samples. The tests required a rather large volume of blood or tissue, which could be easily cleaned by the perpetrator.
they didnt do a DNA swab when they first saw the stain in the shed because they were not MP's. also at the time, what they were doing was asking him if he had seen her. there wasnt an official investigation going on yet.

This person must be a trophy winner for showing up to school on time one day in a row... If I have grammar or spelling errors, it's because I went to school in America...
*spoiler alert* it was her ex husband (no I haven't watched it yet).
How did you know she was married before? Anyway you were wrong. It turned out to be her husband. Who would have guessed?
She had a service weapon and could have bought her own gun! That explanation only covers the real reason he bought a gun in case it was found out. She could have bought a gun on that long walk to the paint store!! As a former Marine, hadn’t he been fingerprinted? The Marines are serious about never leaving a soldier behind!!
It was easy to guess the hubby killed her.

He was a machoman. He thought he had right to behave as he pleased and he was so suspicious that he thought his wife was in the same way and she wasn't. When she wanted to leave he felt humiliated. His manhood was hurt and he decided to kill her for that.
Yup typical fragile inflated male ego.
That's so sad.if he took her life then his life should be took in the same way.whats good for the goose is good for the gander.
I knew it was the husband straight away
What an evil bastard doing that to his wife

See I looked at some of this story and looked it up online to see if the convicted was still alive or if Shirley was found.
What saddened me more is there was no mentioned of Shirley's Parents, no Siblings
This lady have a family, somebody that raised and cared for her.
Very saddening you could take someone from their family marry them then take there life. You with her a few years, while her parents raised her for 18 plus years.
Wish her body was found, man he took her life, never to be seen or heard again, that so final, it's gut reaching. Taking people lives, away from society. So much Value to he country, that one man couldn't see or cherish.

I seriously don't think this case would have been solved if she weren't a Marine officer. Glad it did though.
