Yeah buddy, that sounds amazing. back in the day , the first thing I got from everyone is, Does it sound great in the car? Now its the phone, or the club. You got those covered.
Yes! Similarly, Lots of professional studios have a “live room” specifically to capture sounds in a cavernous reflective space. This works great for recording and mixing 👍
@@ReidStefanMusic Effectively !🤣 I don't know if you'll see this comment but I was wondering what the difference was between your new BAE preamp compared to your old Vintech Audio. I know that this one is powered by an external unit but why did you change?
@@ReidStefanMusic At the same time, when comparing such high-end units, the difference lies in the details. It could be super cool to have an A/B video (personally, I'm very interested haha)
How can you afford all that high end recording gear bro, that’s insane. You have the best of the best. A real Sony C8000, tub tech CL1B, BAE 1073, a real LA2A and UA 1176, TeleF 251. Wow!
I need your expert opinion regarding the purchase of a mic preamp. I’m looking for a 1073-type preamp, but there are so many clones now that I don’t know which one to choose... So I have 4 options: HA-73eq, Vintech audio 73, BAE 73 (not the eq version), or the famous 1073 spx. I’ve heard great things about all four, so I’m not sure which one to go for, and that’s why I’d love to have your opinion, Stefan! Thanks a lot, have a great day ☀️
Reid! Love the beautiful setups you got! Trying to take on a project myself but an outside shed rather than it being a room in the house☹️ What is your room dimensions for your Vocal studio if i may ask? Really been researching what the ideal room dimensions for audio engineering and run into dead ends..
Thanks for the tour, been waiting your videos for years now. Curious, what is your opinion on the various compressors? LA-2A, CL-1B, 1176? Would you consider doing a sample review video of the three compressors to give us an idea how they sound different from one another?
@@ReidStefanMusic When you do, would you consider how each compressor affects different styles of music. For example, one compressor might be better for hiphop, while another for classical, while another for bluegrass. I think all 3 of those compressors are nice, but I am curious if they have different 'tone' depending on where they are utilized. Thanks Reid!
Hi Reid Watched for years - can i ask see with that Analog DSP annd a Mac of that spec (300+gb ram) etc do you EVER encounter any nnoticiable latency with a busy track ?
I avoid latency by using Direct Monitoring from my interface and muting the "record track" in my DAW while tracking. Many powerful Mixing/Mastering plugins create noticeable latency regardless of the computer speed, so I get my headphone signal straight from my interface always.
I have a Roli Seaboard Block and Arturia Keystep 37. Although I like the Roli, I run into issues often with Kontakt, especially with Piano and Guitar patches. But not with the Keystep. Do you have any issues with the Roli Lumi in Kontakt? My Roli does play real nice with Tracktion Abyss.
Roli works for me with every software, however the special MPE gestures like pitch bending by wiggling the keys, only works smoothly with selected synths
Great video! How do you get master out from ableton/pro tools in to logic? Digital patchbay or analog ins and outs? Do you have or had any problems with that setup?
I use a short digital RCA cable to loop the prism interface’s digital SPIDF output back into the SPIDF input. Many interfaces nowadays like Scarlett, Apollo, Neumann all have a digital loopback channel built-in and you don’t even need any cable
iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit's production time!
Cable management is pointless when you’re constantly swapping out gear and re-arranging stuff for various videoshoots. It’s just extra work that will inevitably need to be undone for the next project
@@ReidStefanMusic I had actually thought that after I made the comment. Definitely some would never move, but I figured some would be swapped around. Amazing setups
Just wanted to clarify one point he made. You do NOT to buy monitors because they “just sound so good”. You want to buy linear monitors that are transparent and exposes the nuances and lets you hear the “bad stuff” better.
Absolutely beautiful studio and so inspiring. That is years and years of grinding to create a vibe like that. As a visual artist I fuck with the aesthetic so hard.
