Kevin Burke was born and bred in London and moved to Ireland at a young age - hence the very mixed up accent. The Burkes he came from made a big impact on music in London. Damn nice people.
He came to Ireland in his twenties. I think he joined the Bothy Band, one of the big Irish folk groups. He would be called London Irish like the Pogues.
Just love your rendition of O’Carolan’s , Loftus Jones!!l. It’s my favorite of all the pieces that he wrote!! I am playing it on the piano and learning it on the violin!
Got to hear this done once live,, by the Boston Pops Orchestra ...Ahhhh... the Magic of Music...Well done here as well!
All is great in this vidéo .
Thanks à million to thé irish people to have enable this music to passe in the tradition

Very fine!
What a wonderful arrangement and sound. Love it. Nice octave mandolin I guess.
I think that's a bouzouki. Andy Irvine had a lot to do with establishing the Bouzouki in Irish music.
I would bet on Octave Mandolin. It is used primarily by Irish music groups.
@@sonomabob It is a mandola to give it it's correct name. Half way to an Irish Bouzouki. They are all used in Irish music.
Great sound! I've listened Joanie Madden's version of this tune. This one more silent.
I think Eileen Ivers played the fiddle on Joanies CD. Lovely tune.
Dordan Mary Bergin plays it so brilliantly
I echo Jim Cahill's remark....Surely that's Arty McGlynn on Guitar!
Surely that's Arty McGlynn on Guitar!
