The second and final part of this mediocre game.
D.W. the Picky Eater is (C) 1998 Living Books/Wanderful Storybooks and (C) 1995 Marc Brown.
THE END (where DW, Arthur and their family are all saying goodbye to the viewers)
DW Read: Well, that's the end of our story, but don't worry that was really fun.
Arthur Read: Hope you'd come back and see us again.
The Reads: Bye for now! See you soon!
And at the end, Grandma Thora said “I’m proud of you for trying new things!” Also, the The End screen will be in a scene where the Read family have finished their meal.
You sure know how to be imaginative. (And so do I.)
That's what makes it funny. I honestly like the way the book ends better than the episode. In the TV version, she says she liked spinach the whole time, making her out to be a dirty liar. But here, it makes her realize she was fooling herself.
Doctor: you have 60 hours, 40 minutes, and 1000 seconds to live
DW: of course! *eats little bo peep pie*
ONE HOUR LATER
DW: is is time?
Doctor: yes its time and you ate *S P I N A C H*
DW: 15:29 WHAAAAAA~?
Arthur's family gasps.
D.W: So why is everybody looking at me? I love spinach now. And everybody knows that!
Arthur Read: But I thought you hated spinach.
Aw I was digging around the attic when I came across the Arthur CD Rom Games. I can't play them anymore because of compatibility issues (Windows 95/98 required!) but it's great getting to revisit these games through your channel. Thanks for this :)
15:29 Arthur’s family: *gasps*
D.W. Read: Why is everyone looking at me? I love spinach! Everyone knows that!
DW still hates it. Can't you tell?
No! She did not say that in the CD-Rom but on TV.
Shawntel Croskey at least it actually came from TV and that’s why I quoted TV. 😅
17:43 DW: Well that was a great day.
Arthur: Hope to see you again soon.
The reads: Bye for now
This is only because, the reason why the Little Bo Peep Pot Pie was a spinach pie is because, even though D.W did not notice it, the last page says it. The waiter said, "Just take some pie pastry and you fill it with lots and lots of spinach". So it's just pie with spinach inside.
The first time I saw the restaurant they used in the TV episode, I wished it was real. I still wish it.
As for the menu...guess I'd try the Little Bo Peep Pot Pie. I only like spinach in souffle and quiche, so based on those the pot pie might not be so bad. Either way, I love the names of the meals on the menu.
Here's my interpretation. In the TV version, D.W. does like spinach but she won't admit it, so she pretended to have a tantrum at the restaurant in order to fit in with kids who do hate spinach. Near the end, she says she loves spinach, revealing she knew that was in her pot pie.
Sadly this was the last of Living Books... one of the greatest childhood memories. 🥺

The music on the picnic minigame reminds me of old Winnie the Pooh PC games I grew up with, including the Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree Animated Storybook game that Media Station also created alongside this game.
2:22 I used to play this game when i was little, I still kinda love how silly those gophers are with their funny faces & the way they get soaked & scared away
anyone else notice that the picnic Arthur and D.W were setting out was shaped like the food pyramid?
I noticed! I thought it was very creative!
You know this food mini game is creepy because when DW thinks she glares at the player that is really creepy 10:48
The white bunny 🐇 that kissed Baby Kate on the cheek which was cute. Who knows? She must be a bunny lover other than a 🐕 lover. I love to eat creamed spinach with thinner cuts of prime rib (e.g. The English Cut). I'd usually eat it every year on New Year's Eve when I go out to dinner out as part of a tradition that we celebrate together after Christmas. PLEASE note that my family and I used to eat there due to bad service, cruel attitude of the waitstaff, lousy food flavorings, etc. ABC 7 News reported it at least 3⃣years ago in the Fall and it turned out that NO ONE was allowed to either dine out or get takeout from that steakhouse at all during a viral outbreak. The sad news is, we're unable to dine out at the former school dean's favorite restaurant, because COVID-19 has entered the picture. Besides, it only accepts reservations which means that customers MUST make them ahead of time, so they're added to the 🖥at the front desk where the hosts and hostesses work together. One time in the past which was way before COVID-19 existed, my mom and I meaning "we" had bad colds, so our reservation was cancelled at that time in our lives. 👍🏻 if you agree with my other comment.
I know what the picnic game is meant to symbolize: the Food Pyramid, for how it was set. It's only a guess, though.
Of course, mushrooms are not really vegetables. Not even plants. Just fungi. Just used for vegetables, like tomatoes which are actually fruits.
Cucumber isn’t a vegetable either, it’s a fruit.
@@masonplacher7096 Well, yeah, in the botanical sense, but as far as flavor and nutritional content go, and in the culinary sense, it counts as a vegetable.
Yes, there are some produce that are botanically fruits, but vegetables in the culinary sense.
1. That's what she did.
2. She didn't know it was a spinach pie.
In the "Family Picnic" game, these are the highlight colors for each one of the five food group plates and the plate for dessert.
These are the colors:
Grains = Violet
Vegetables = Indigo
Fruits = Blue
Proteins = Yellow
Dairy = Green
Dessert = Red
These five plates imitate a rainbow (using six of the seven colors); red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. The "grains" plate is marked in violet (or "purple"), the "vegetables" is indigo, the "fruits" is blue, the "proteins" is yellow, the "dairy products" is green, and the "dessert" (the 6th and final plate) is red.
I wonder why there is one thing for dessert in the game. Well, to my guess it is because we use that sparingly. It is like, "We cannot have just candy every day". Most people like us have only one sweet. What is your guess why it is one thing for dessert? (Note: The "dessert" item for dessert the plate marked in red, it was candy.)
Happy Birthday Grandma Thora, said the twins from The Shining 3:33
7:38-7:43 Looks like we have another Salt-n-Pepa dance group.
1:06. That bunny kissed Kate. Lovely. 𗀃🐰
OMG I remember this was my favorite part. It just randomly came to my mind to find it
I loved this game when I was little - the gopher game was my favourite!
7:02 farmer in the deli bagel platter looks so good i want some now
1:01 YUCK
(This game was my childhood.)
To thank you, The Nameless, would you please upload the whole music from the picnic game without any sounds as a special favor treat?
DW hated spinach before she tried Little Bo Peep pot pie and loves the Little Bo Peep pot pie, ARemoteAndRandomNsme.
LOL DW's face at the end of the story! XD
05:13: Nobody and No one Will See Me If I Have To Get Rid of Something Disgusting
They make D.W. more of a brat in the tv show! In this she is a lot better.....
She still hated spinach in the books.
Yeah, I didn’t notice that.
And, ARemoteAndRandomName, what did D.W say when you click Stay?
DW loves spaghetti 🍝 as much as me but she hates tomato 🍅 sauce but I love tomato 🍅 sauce, ARemoteAndRandomName.
Door (where the Yes button is QUIT and the No button is STAY)
DW Read: Are you sure you want to quit? If you want to say goodbye, click quit. If you want to keep playing, click stay.
(if you click on the Yes button QUIT) Okay. Goodbye!
(if you click on the No button STAY) Great, let’s keep playing!
Looks like Arthur's Family tried malnutrition, there's no meat on the table at all, where's the beef!! That was an Arby's reference if you couldn't tell. 14:35
Well, that’s vegetarian. If there were no dairy products, that’d be a vegan diet.
D.W. just ate a spinach pie. Guess that means she likes spinach.
Still hates spinach, especially in the book.
Dat face at the end of the story! LOL!!
8:33 Here comes the fireworks 🎆🎇✨ again!
It's the way the spinach was cooked is the reason why she liked it even though she never knew what it was until the waiter tells her.
Save it for the cartoon.
D.W.: Well, that's the end of my story. Bye!
Susan Silk-Koenigsberg.
DW: Well, that's the end of our story, but don't worry that was really fun.
Arthur: Hope you'd come back and see us again.
The Reads: Bye for now! See you soon!
No, those appeared on EVERY page in the game. The UFO here only appears on about half the pages, which makes me question if it's the running gag or not.
You mean in the TV version, D.W. pretended to hate spinach? She made Arthur go through all that trouble of getting her to eat new foods for nothing!
She was not pretending! I am not on her side because she reminds me of my miserable past self from force feeding by teachers to ignoring bullies.
Dessert always comes last, you know.
Mushrooms are not vegetables, they're fungi.
Candy is a kind of dessert.
So, ARemoteAndRandomName, what did D.W say when you click Quit?
D.W said goodbye
That message doesn't make any sense now. It could now be saying, I'm Richard said the Richard, or it could be saying, I'm waiter said the waiter... see how that makes things more confusing? 6:01
"All eyes were on D.W." But what about Arthur tho? XD
3:25 Holy shit, Kate can walk? When did that happen?!
DW: well that's the end of my story see you next time
Aurther:bye DW do you want to eat something
DW:yes
Crackers in the grain group...yeah, sounds about right. But what kinds would fall under the "healthy" and "unhealthy" categories?
Trust me.
What the heck happened to her neck when she was eating her food?
I don't even know to be honest. It does appear on several pages, but it doesn't show up on several others.
3:25
Arthur's Mom: Look Arthur and DW. Kate is walking for the first time.
At 7:34 and 7:45 if you'll listen closely the water glass sounds a little like the peacock chimes for NBC.
Oh yeah! Thanks for pointing that out. The peacock is the logo for NBC.
Peacock 🦚 is like an NBC.
That's what I interpreted it as, anyway.
was that little UFO a running gag?
why can't D.W just order what she likes off the menu instead of randomly picking a spinach pie?
Funny how she’s the one giving her grandkids presents when it’s her birthday.
I enjoyed this game
6:26 - 6:42 That always made me laugh.
Where can you find this game?
DW:are you sure you want to quit? Me:yes!
DW: okay! Good bye!
Spinach has no flavor. That's why D.W. didn't know it was a spinach pie
+Conker The Squirrel What the hell are you on?
***** Ruining my childhood.
@KARDisney If Gobagoo ever finishes it.
DW: well that's the end of my story goodbye see you later
How come you didn't click on Kate in both chapters where the whole family was sitting at the table in the restaurant?
Trust me.
@@susansilk-koenigsberg3368
I beg your pardon?
DW: well that's the end of my story good-bye see you next time
