i really like the details in furina's voice, it's rapsy like someone trying to hold in tears. that shows how strong she's trying to be
How did they even write, create, or even think of this story writing, I wonder. Whoever decided or thought of Furina being made by this, they need a big raise.
The best part of the Roses and Muskets event was Furina talking back to Paimon.

I misjudged Furina for being a brat once, I still regret it for judging her actions, and the way she acts. I didn't follow the "Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover" quote. We should've learned this by now.
Ong I was so glad when she actually clapping back at paimon cuz paimon was legitimately pissing me off with how she treats furina. Tho now it's funny to me how they bicker back and forth a bit😂
I do hope that Paimon gets character development to be more thoughtful when she speaks. There have been so many moments that have been ruined by Paimon punctuating the moment. Also, you will be excited to play the Film Festival event quest if you liked this one, as I did.
Paimon really needs that, she felt pretty decent in Sumeru from what I can remember, but they keep flip flopping and it’s so irritating that genshin just can’t decide how to write her
I feel like at this point the writers are kinda aware somehow?? Idk if they do this on purpose but Paimon does it again in Navia’s story quest but traveller picks up on it. I really really hope they’re gonna fix that at some point…

i dunno, paimon's behaviour is that of attention craving, mora, and being famous. now that furina has come to the picture, she sounds jealous and denigrating. 8:43 the tone, says it all, she wasn't TRYING to make fun of her. she Was. i really liked this relationship tho. it shows the true color of characters.

Also she tried to challenge local legend (propably Hydro miniboss) and got beaten up 😅

If you think about it Paimon did not know much of Furinas suffering at the start of the quest nor did she see it how the traveler did inside her personal world
Paimon is just being Paimon similar to how she saw wanderer after forgetting him and his story, she was only kinder when she forgot and when she met the wanderer with his memories back she was still kinder than when she knew him as Scaramouche since she also lacked the perspective similar to the Furina situation

In most cases I consider myself a Paimon sympathizer, but she was a complete asshole to Furina during this quest, and it really pissed me off.
Even as paimon and traveller's number one fan I couldn't defend them here 💀
I've watched a number of playthroughs and no one has ever chosen the first option, myself included. I'm a little curious if there's a difference in dialogue but I guess we'll never find out because justifiably, no one wants to defend Paimon
Like I said before, I am not a paimon hater, but this quest was exception XD, I want to effin smack the shit out of her.
@@magnificentapplepie2713 that makes sense though. I don't think anyone who is empathizing with Furina would want to back up Paimon, even if we're acting like Paimon "meant well". Her dialogue is just so out of place and whoever wrote her lines for this quest needs to understand the saying, "right place, right time".
This Story Quest is one the better ones, especially with how the Fontaine Main Quest ended.
Thoughout the entire Fontaine story, we only viewed Furina as the act she was putting up for all to see, so this quest showed the real Furina behind the curtains so to speak.
And it also both highlighted the trauma she had suffered for centuries of acting a part instead of being herself, and shows us the inner strength she always have within herself to move forward in her life.
All in all, a great story quest for the most well-written character in Genshin up to now.
The localisation for this game has been getting wonkier as time goes on. Traveller and Paimon aren’t nearly as rude or pushy in the original CN version. The line where Paimon calls Furina a ‘diva at heart’ actually says ‘I just thought you meant that you had an unapproachable personality’ in the original.

@@Cinabonz things would’ve have ended up a lot differently. The traveler gave furina the info first of all and convinced her to reconsider and be a sort of director basically kickstarting the events. Execution could have been much better though

I feel as if this quest really cements the idea that everyone has a bit of Furina in them, she is a character with heavy contrast that really demonstrates how she never had a 'life'.
Okay so my thoughts is that the intial of Paimon and Furina interaction. "Well its just while someones sick" felt like Paimon didnt listen to Furina when she said that having for 500 years straight does not make her want to act.
I was willing to put it off if Paimon didnt understand Furinas thoughts but the second time felt like Paimon being Paimon. I can understand from a human prespective being like "hey try it out, its only one time."
But Paimon needed to take a hint and not insist more. But yet again Paimon being Paimon..
I mean Furina wouldnt be happy like she is now nor would she have her vision if she wasn't pushed right ?
Even Neuvillette mentioned she looked excited at the thought of performing again.. like ppl seems to only see the first part and focused on that instead of looking at the end result.
Furina case is she's doubting herself. She wants to do it but she's insecure. And she's kept letting the past hold her back. Hence why she needs someone to pull her out of that circle. Call it tough love if you want. If it helps then sure.

I get the idea of what hoyo was trying to do with the traveler being a little pushy so furina wouldn’t be cooped up all the time but damn did they flop on the execution and it make seem like the traveler was a villain when they weren’t supposed to be like that. The quest was solid though after the first interaction. Another thing I don’t get is why are they writing the Traveler and Furina like best buddies in her SQ when they were mainly antagonistic or cordial at best in the AQ. Perhaps maybe they talked off screen or something. It’s just weird couple with some of paimons dialogues (it did seem to be on purpose, furina does call her out for it). It all ended up well though so it’s whatever ig
Yeah, I agree with this so much! Either people are saying "Furina doesn't need to be babied, you're all a bunch of wimps," or they're saying "Paimon and Traveler were so rude, they need to SHUT UP." And both of those sides just don't sit right with me, they both feel exaggerated. I think this is the most balanced opinion I've seen in this comment section so far.
It's exactly why I was surprised by the clash of takes. I saw Traveler being just lighthearted the whole time, not too close and personal but not being a stranger during their interactions with Furina. The only issue I had was with Paimon at times saying out-of-pocket rudeness a lil more than she usually does towards someone already down on their luck, so to speak.
Ngl the way she speaks now just gives off such a different vibe 😮
In my opinion whoever wrote this script didn't do Traveler justice on how he/she should have treated Furina. definitely a poor choice in the studio and really hope its someone else they pick for her 2nd story quest

@@lelouchvibritannia1662I think it’s due to them actually spending time with people like navia. It takes time for the traveler to bond with them and actually care about them. They spent little to no time with furina and their interactions were antagonistic a lot of the times

I think I know what they were going for, but they should have put something in between this and the archon quest. It's mentioned at some point that she loves being on-stage, probably because she could pretend to be literally anything but the archon, but it was so briefly and there's so little time between her being released from her duty and now that it basically just seems like she's being shoved back up there. XD
For me the worst parts were the lack of how much time has passed since the Archon quest and that the dialogue choices made , specifically by Paimon kinda were not appropriate to say the least and that I felt like the Traveler should have I don't know but apologize to Furina?
I just hated how we acted like we were besties when we literally prosecuted her in our last interaction? When did we reconcile? Thought this story quest would have been more of us and Furina talking it out and making repairs to Fontaine by making it up to the people of poisson.
It’s been a few weeks at least hinted by furinas dialogues abt macaroni. I just wish they had more time to reconcile before they were sort of friends. Them being buddies at the beginning of the SQ makes no sense considering their interactions in the AQ.
I might be of the minority opinion but I don’t think the traveler has to apologize nor do I think she cares about an apology. Both sides did what they had to do and furina knows this so that’s why I think she holds no grudges. Neuvilette did try to make her feel better too in an offscreen convo, but she didn’t care and was tired.
I agree with the later part of your statement @Discarded_Uzi , but the former about it not making sense for them to be friends afterwards remember during the archon quest Furina was tempted to actually confided in the Traveler, and even before then during her meeting with The Knave we were the person she turned to keep her safe in the absence of Nuevitte. So no her being fast friends with us makes perfect sense. But I will say it would have been nice to see them interact before the start of the quest.
@@TrueWarriorJak I disagree. The travelers betrayal hit her pretty hard. She thought she could finally confide in someone only for them to throw it right in her face. She wouldn't blame him but it would definitely give her some trust issues, not to mention she's already depressed. Well, at least that's what I think.
Anyways I've noticed this game has a habit of shoving things under the rug when it comes to the mc and his interactions with others. But it's a must if they wish to have side quests and hangouts. The game wants the mc to be a neutral spectator, but at the same time they want the mc to be involved. So it can get messy.
@@levinskan I mean they aren't throwing it under the rug, hell just look at her voice lines about the traveler its very clear she feels very strongly about them romantic or otherwise but that's another topic entirely. Also I don't think she felt all that betrayed she was more so worried about her people dying then the traveler lying to her not to mention in that very scene she understood that he was being 100% truthful to her about wanting to help, but refused. If anything based on what we know about her, Furina would be more critical of herself about what happened then what we did.
I've been laughing for a while already, looking at the bird at 32:17 trying to drawn in poisson while furina gives a thoughtful speech. and he goes into water so confident too. lmao

this quest lacks context on how we reconciled with furina after the whole archon quest which makes it very annoying to me. paimon and traveler's attitudes are rude nevertheless, yet it would've made more sense if they indeed had a close friendship with furina. especially after we put her on a trial and basically ruined furina's reputation for 500 years in front of the whole fontaine bcs i feel like common fontainians don't understand at all what is actually happening with focalors, furina, and the prophecy (neuvillette even told us that they only understand that the death sentence has not been carried out yet so basically furina is supposed to still be a "criminal" after the AQ despite people supporting her not getting the death sentence).
i'm glad how furina found her ways to finally live her own life in this quest, but paimon and traveler made me experience secondhand embarrassment

@@row7356 Only people with glass hearts have made a big deal out of nothing in this quest. They fail to realize that there are different ways to motivate someone out of a slump besides spewing out comforting words. As if Furina's mental fortitude would allow her to get hurt by anything the traveler and Paimon could throw at her.

I like the story quest, but I am confused about the reactions of othe players about it. As far as I know, Paimon and Traveler was not that rude to Furina. They asked her, Furina rejected the thought, Paimon insisted more, but Furina firmly rejected. They accepted and that's it.
I kinda get how people think it's very insensitive on their part (especially for Paimon), but I found her not destructively pushy like other players painted her to be. And I heard people saying Paimon is guilt tripping Furina but I think people just misunderstood Paimon's characters. She's a blabbermouth. She's flaky. She says whatever is on her mind before actually processing what she said. She did not try to guilt trip Furina but was just so overly concerned about not being able to help the troupe perform their last performance that she just let her mouth run.
I also don't get why people think all characters should apologize to Furina. For all I know, the key characters are the one just concerned about the well-being of their country. Furina deserves a break from all of what happened, but demanding an apology over the characters when they did not maliciously make remarks or done something wrong on Furina but just want to help Fontaine from getting destroyed.
You kinda have a point, especially on apologizing. Both sides did what they had to do. Furina knows this and that’s why she doesn’t expect one from the Traveler

Yeah, I think so too, it seems people are a bit over-dramatic things. Traveler and Paimon indeed have their low EQ and rude approach to Furina but it is not something out of malicious.
I don't have a problem traveler but I def see the problem with paimon. While paimon is known for taking shots at ppl it felt little jarring and very unnecessary/mean even by her standards because of wut her and the player know furina has been through and currently going through. And I'm one of the ppl who unironically like paimon as a character.

i have mixed feelings about this quest, the story itself was fine yknow the usual story quest kinda surrounded by the character + some npcs
the beginning especially was really weird to me, i thought this sq was gonna be us making it up with furina. we were acquaintances at most, probably even less than that, but the writing seems like we've been best friends for years. i know the traveler saw her entire life but i feel like we should've had some part where we reconciled

@@luckyattlas4288 it’s bc paimon is a child. Children are blunt. Paimon has always been blunt to people like Venti and Zhongli for example. Neuvilette was intimidating so she kept quiet. This is nothing new. Not to mention traveler and paimon bantered a lot throughout their journey. It’s just the way she is. Furina does call paimon out on it too In her SQ

Its really good..
One thing I feel most people miss on the AQ is that the Traveler wasn't a key factor unlike the others AQs. They saved Dvalin, stopped Osail, ended the Civil War, and rescued Nahida... But they didn't save Fontaine. It was all on Furina and Focalors. Furina shouldering the burden for 500 years and Focalors killed herself to grant Neuvillette the authority necessary. All this could have happened without the Traveler, unlike the other quests. At best, the trial had to happen to fulfill the prophecy, but again the Traveler wasn't necessary either. If anything, their actions triggered the prophecy, at best fulfilling the script. Though Focalors could still have killed herself to achieve the same result had push come to shove and the flood came without the trial.
All of this makes their lack of empathy and apologies, not only of the Traveler but the entire cast extra jarring. Furina is too sweet to be angry though.
They were important, the narsissenkreuz said that Fontaine would have drowned without the Traveler bc they can change fate since they aren’t bound to the laws of Teyvat. They were the uncontrolled variable that saved Fontaine. They also saved lyney from being framed and solved the serial disappearances case which led to important breakthroughs about the prophecy. They also fought narwhal and defeated them while neuvilette was removing primordial seawater from the narwhal. The Traveler did do a lot for Fontaine but you are right about furina being too sweet for grudges
@@Discarded_Uzi Fair. I didn't do Narsissenkreuz so I'm not aware of it. But I'm not sure about the AQ involvment. What does solving the dissaparances or proving Lyney innocent do to stop the prophecy? It informed the Traveler and the audience... but that didn't change the prophecy.
The flood still came, regardless. The Traveler didn't made it so that the people didn't dissolve, that was Focalors working for 500 years. While they fought the Narwhal, that would have been more key without the inclusion of Skirk, which would've defeated the animal easily moments later.
@@Discarded_Uzifew corrections. Rene tried to become a descender/variable so we can assume that Focalors became that variable. Because it wasn't traveler that changed Neuvillette's mind, it wasn't traveler that gave Focalors the idea. The two important factors that actually saved the people. We also have to remember that while Traveler does posses the will to rival the world, no Prophecy has been defied here. The only thing that changed was the result. And the result was entirely dependant on Furina's determination and will and gambling on Neuvillette, which was decided almost 500 years ago. Also, Traveler did not fight Narwhal while Neuvillette was removing water... Sure they were fighting then too but Neuvillette removed water from Narwhal almost easily and really early in the fight and he gave us some of his dragon authority to fight the whale.

It sounded kinda weird when René was saying that we were the unknown variable that changed Fontaine's fate while in reality all the work has been made by Foçalors and Furina during their 500 years act. So for me, it was Foçalors decision to trick Celestia the "unknown variable" not freshly arrived Traveler. They did not even beat the Narwhal if I recall correctly, it was Neuvillette with his newfound power

The more I rewatch this quest the more I like it. I think the first impressions were negative because a) We wanted to see more Furina aftermath to the archon quest, not some random troupe story and b) We've seen how sad and vulnerable Furina was in her last days as an archon so this "mean" Paimon/Traveler banter felt forced and out of place. Felt like traveler and Furina weren't close enough following the archon quest for us to speak to her that way - almost as if she is forced to put up with us because she has no one closer in her life. I think if this was Furina Story Act 2 as opposed to 1, it would have been one of the best ones they've done
Given her situation it would make more sense as to why she feels more calm with us, and while i agree Paimon’s attitude really needed to stop, traveler was a bit disingenuous at the start when asking her even when he told the truth, but stopped when she said no, supported her decisions and comforted her in Poisson. He was not nearly as rude
@@jeffali5157 It's because Paimon herself hasn't seen Furina's backstory. Also I bet she holds a grudge from being labelled a flying object and almost getting arrested on the first day. Overall, I felt like we only had one archon quest conversation with real Furina, then betrayed her by putting her on trial, and then next conversation we make fun of her and expect her to tag along to theatre charity work. Just felt weird - we barely know her, especially the real her

And I really doubt she holds a grudge after everything that happened. sucks that we betrayed her but through the traveler’s perspective, they really didn’t have any options left and I doubt Furina holds anything against them. traveler even said sorry right after the reveal. Sadly Paimon really doesn’t know when to shut up and was pretty much the one to make fun of her that way. I do agree we should get more interactions with Furina. With how popular she’s getting, we may get a part 2 of her story quest.
@@jeffali5157 Traveler said sorry for deceiving Furina about the earthquake while in the carriage, not about putting her on trial. But it doesn't really matter - it just felt like we missed a chapter between the archon quest and her story. Normally archons get a part 2 and I hope we get a next chapter for both Neuvillette and Furina in 4.5-4.7
@@SeenE-kg9nj I’m pretty sure that sorry was for the trial, or at least both the quake and the trial. And I’m putting money on that we’re gonna get that chapter in her part 2 quest soon enough.
I actually did enjoy the quest and paimon didn't bother me as much to make me feel disappointed with the quest. I'm glad Furina isn't treated as a broken person that needs comfort all the time. This kind of interaction between paimon and other characters isn't new at all.
The archon quest didn't really show much about how she actually loves acting and theatrics outside of the archon situation. She needs that push for her to do what she loves again.

From this quest,I can conclude that Furina is one of the best character to be written so far. Her past is full of torture but she still tries to forget it and wants to try to live like a normal person. But yes, Aether and Paimon are very... unpleasant....in in this quest.Hope for her second quest,we got to treat her better like,360 more better.Babygirl deserves thousands of hug and cuddles.

Dude relax, Travler was a bit disingenuous at first when asking her when she knew the truth but respected her wishes, and comforted her in Poisson, Paimon though was very rude
They did have to go through a lot of crap from Furina. I can understand why Paimon acted this way, but the Traveler knows what Furina was burdened to because he went into her consciousness. I know this is a story quest and not part of the Archon Quest because If you noticed, the Traveler is slowly getting more and more sick of helping out others to the point where he starts getting aggressive on other people's cases. The man just wants to find his sister, and the world keeps slowing him down.
Which Fontanian Story Quest will you do next? I suggest that you do the remaining 4 Story Quests, they're dark yet beautiful

Its has a mix opinion not because the story was bad but Paimon's and Traveler's attitude towards a traumatized Furina. They were complete assholes towards her. They guilt trip her even after she said to them she doesn't want anything to do with the opera. I was like bloody hell.

i actually found this story quest rlly great, and tbh i was skeptical at first playing it bc ppl are saying it’s bad bc of the attitude of traveler and paimon, but it wasn’t even THAT bad.
I gotta say that as someone who usually plays with JP voices they killed that meeting with Vilmant.

God the people in this comment section are infuriating. The amount of overreaction is absolutely absurd. In fact I remember seeing some similar reactions online when the quest first came out that made me genuinely that the traveler and paimon would act like horrible people in this quest. After playing it myself I must remind myself to never take the opinion of the Genshin community at face value in regards to these sort of things. At this point I can't do much but sigh and be disappointed in the people's reactions at this point.
Some people probably being overprotective of Furina after her archon quest, thinking that everyone should act apologetic towards her. Still, their thin level of paper skin is concerning, if they think main duo being rude here enough to offend Furina somehow.
No. Paimon's way of speaking to Furina was way out of line. You don't get pushy with a trauma survivor, especially one you barely actually know.

Honestly they're not. They or at least Paimon has been behaving the way she is like before. People just think she's extra mean because they are protective of Furina.
In fact without that intervention and push, Furina would still be wallowing in depression and self-pity n her apartment and wouldn't even get her vision.

Had the traveller not looked for her, she would still be in that state with no purpose and no vision.
