Japan works differently. They have taken the model from their medieval arts performers like the Geisha and kabuki actors to this day. Talent agencies run the entertainment. A person may enrol either young or older and train in all subjects by the agency's school and they must live at the dorms if younger or in financial strains. Since the agency once they pass certain levels of training, connects them with all other gigs they must already be trained to veer into all areas of entertainment: acting stage acting voice acting modelling speech dance and even martial arts and acrobatics. Similarly for musicians and solely voice actors. A little less so for producers and composers. So the standards are incredibly high for performers in Japan. With little sleep. I heard Eren's actor for this sayign the harneses hurt like hell and that they all ad bruises in their thighs from use. And that they were barely getting any sleep. But the effort shows. I really hope ppl don't shit on them in NY.
@@Larindarr The other thing about Japan is that the level of commitment by the average employee of a given company is far higher than what you typically see in the US, because with very few exceptions, employees there typically care about the whole company and not just their paycheck. So because of that they tend to push themselves alot harder than employees would in American companies.
True, it made me almost think that they're in a movie but it's just the video for the stage playing in the background 😂😂 They've really stepped up their game 👏🤍✨
Musicals and stage plays of anime will always be better than the live action adaptation they are so bad. Also have you seen death note the musical? Omg, that was an absolute masterpiece I liked it more than the anime ngl.

Sounds to me like Eren is played by a baritone- which, it’s not only refreshing to hear a lead role played by a lower voice type, but also to hear a lead voice that sounds powerful and emotionally engaging without needing to screlt or strain their voice.
I am so glad to see this post I am also so happy to see his vocal quality as a lead and I think he fits the character perfectly and that his timbre is lovely.
He was Romeo in Romeo et Juliette this year. He was also in a musical comedy drama called Oddboys that's pretty great! The voice actor of Malleus from Twisted Wonderland is also in that.
Would they sing those super popular and classic songs from the anime in the musical? It doesn’t show in this video. I am debating whether I should go to see it in Nyc!
HOLY SHIT THE ENTIRE SHOW WAS JUST 🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐 Top tier: acting, raging villagers, singing, vocal balance, harmonies, titans, choreo, lighting, cadet corps rave, keith spitting bars, leads who can dance, marco being bbg, HANGE OMG, Guren no Yumiya, acrobatics, trampoline, people on fly rigs, dude who spun on his head forever, Sashaaa, heartbreak, despair, orchestration, Leviii, Mikasaaaaa, pomegranate, "Tatakae", raging soldiers, smoke, harmonies again, Erwinnn, "TATAKAE", Marcooo
There’s an Attack on Titan musical???!!! Holy shit, this looks like freaking fire! I’m not even a fan of Attack on Titan but I would love to see this live! The special effects of the Titans (which is genially effective and terrifying) and the amazing music. This is awesome!
Ahhhh, I was waiting for this! The moment you uploaded song lyrics for AOT I knew you'd cover the musical at one point! My gosh, those two girls made me cry...not to mention Hange was lowkey creepy in that class XD The actors being literal acrobats fits so well with this but astounds me all the same. I managed to nab a spot for opening night in New York's three-day off-Broadway run this October, and it's only thanks to this compilation that I was convinced it would be at all worth seeing, so thank you _very_ much for it, OP.
Wasn't expecting much after the accident that happened years ago but this actually looks great. ❤ Also, at 6:16 low key felt like I was watching High School Musical for a minute.😂
KURUMU MY BELOVED god I’m so glad I got to see this on it’s first run in Tokyo!!!!! I’m so proud that they’re running it in New York soon too!!!!!!!!!! May many get to experience the wonders of 2.5D musicals and may all be blessed by Okamiya Kurumu’s voice forevermore
Kurumu has come far!! The last time I saw him was in Banana Fish The Stage! So happy to found fellow Kurumu fans here ☺️💕💕💕 I hope you're having the best time!
I’ve literally never heard of this before. Despite being someone who’s left the AoT fandom some time ago and hates musicals… I’m so glad something like this exists. XD

I gotta ty for bringing this masterpiece to me bc this video is how I discovered there's a musical for aot and let me tell you, when I went over to NYC to watch it live it changed my life

I'm sure it isn't as hard for Japanese 2.5D (aka stage play) actors though, because they're trained for this. I'm talking about singing, dancing, stunt acting and the acting itself. pretty amazing stuff

Has anyone found a way to watch the full show without purchasing the dvd??? right now it’s simply out of my price range but this video alone hooked me and I need to watch the full show !!
After finding some mostly-full Bluray rips of the songs, on the whole they _genuinely_ are. The orchestration, the vocal performances, how they translated the plot beats into song and where - you can tell that the team really cared.

I feel like every stage actor in Japan needs to have a background in acrobatics before being casted for a role
FR 😭
It's not even limited to this. Nearly every Sailor Moon musical has characters jumping around and doing backflips. Not joking.

That's probably why there are sooo many stage plays of anime/manga/games.
