China's BAN on Cultured Figures is Now Starting to Affect Me

  • Saucy anime figures were outlawed in China late last year, despite being where Japanese figure companies manufactured their products. We are beginning to see its effect now, where regional variants of the same figure will omit certain parts included with anime figure preorders. And this is actually affecting anime figure collectors like me.

    There seems to be an increased movement recently in banning nsfw stuff, not only in China but also credit card companies like Visa, Mastercard, Amex forcing Japanese companies to remove doujin content. Why can't consenting adults enjoy their cultured content in peace?

    In my country, importing ecchi Loli figures is not allowed; I only managed to get mine by paying bribes to the director of the airport's customs agency (meaning they were rather expensive). But my country is less strict that China regarding the punishment of corruption. If I was in your place, I would travel directly to PartyLook's Chinese store and try to get it there in person (which is very inconvenient, but is the choice that allows you to check what version you are buying without really being at much risk).
    Looking into the future, you may want to start making friendly meetings with whomever handles customs in your local region, so they can (even if at a price) 'solve' things for you.

    So, in this instance is it the character's perceived age that's the problem? Or is it a blanket ban, because they saw lewd figures being sold with recommended ages that were lower than 18+?
    I was under the impression that that was more the problem, because after the inquiry the 3rd party market seems completely unaffected.

      Just left Tokyo and I was wondering how much shipping from AmiAmi would cost to Germany cause I already carried like 30+ figures in my luggage and the last one was rather big 😅 Ended up buying it there too, had to pay additional fee at the airport because my luggage was too heavy. But I guess I’m still glad I don’t have to pay the 10,000¥ shipping and 19% tax everytime.. 🫣

    Hi sir, im from MY too, would like to ask, as far as i know, if your parcel is over Rm500, it will be held at custom for taxing purpose, i know there is LVG/SST that will be asked to pay at check out IF the item is below 500, but the figure u had shown insn't it technically over 500 and too will be held at custom? Or is it because of difference of Air and Sea shipment? i wanted to buy figure and display cabinet recently on Taobao, but i was confused with the taxing stuff so and ended up not getting them.

    • @EXkurogane
      @EXkurogane  5 месяцев назад +1

      It does not matter whether it is over or under RM500 now, given that we have LVG tax now. My problem is each time a parcel gets held at the kastam I need to personally go there to pick up and pay tax. I am not that free. You can ask poslaju to do it for u but there is a RM50 service charge.
      That is why i buy figures from Taobao a lot nowadays, because taobao already helped u charge that 10% LVG tax upon checkout. The item will be delivered straight to you, it wont get stuck at kastam. Very convenient.

    • @juczy
      @juczy 5 месяцев назад

      @@EXkuroganeso you had bought things above Rm500 (w/ written invoice on parcel) and did not get taxed/held at kastam? Cuz from what I had seen at check out, anything below 500 it will be paid as LVG/SST beforehand, and above Rm500, it will not be paid beforehand and have to pay at kastam, aka held at kastam. Or is it Cainiao service will collect the tax first and help us to clear any tax before hand? Sorry for being confused here cuz I'm haha, I do speak and read Mandarin but there is no source to confirm such info to this date, all those lowyat forum thread (post LVG) all say that u still have to go kastam to collect. I appreciate your recent reply kind sir!

      @juczy 5 месяцев назад

      The item listing on both versions on AmiAmi says [This item can be cast off] but that's just blank statement on any figure that has a nude option. In this case, it's a swappable nude body, if not a flat-out entirely whole second figure.

    • @EXkurogane

      From what i noticed some figure brands are exploiting loopholes in the law where as long they add some removable clothes on it's no longer an issue. Third parties do it by adding cheaply made bikini or something and let the customers remove it themselves. But modifying something based on an artwork without the artist's consent is a big no for licensed figures - it is disrespectful, even if it's a temporary part meant to be removed later. So we end up with this scenario now

  • @skiptrejo6270

    If the seller has good reviews and sells more figures that also come with two versions it's probably safe but of course there's always the risk and buying from your own country it's like using another proxy a.k.a more expensive, in my country as long as the 18 ratings are not plastered all over the thing nobody cares but things are beggining to get worse everywhere :/
