    Here in Canada, there's like maybe one or two small figure stores within drivable distance (like up to 2 or 3 cities away) and everything they have is about 2X or more the price of buying from japan or china. When I visited china recently, there were several large figure stores selling merchandise near taobao prices within the same city and that was such a fun experience.

    11:50 Fenrir was Cloud's motorcycle in the movie Final Fantasy Advent Children. This store looks pretty decent, i think the only thing its missing is plushies.

    The Fenrir is the Advent Children 1/6 motor cycle that goes with the Cloud figure that you see on the top. Assuming it says 2399 MYR as the price tag for both, that is a good deal actually.

    Nice video. Watching this video felt I like I was going for a walk in one of these stores. It's a shame there are hardly any where I live, so I only ever get to see these things in person in anime conventions. Also, at 17:56 the umarked box is Witch in Training Nana Hoshikawa (this company also made the Witch of the Other World Fatereal), followed by the Flash Point 1/12 LingJi Kenai (which is known to have a lot of imperfections and quality issues when it came out. Not sure if it's now a new batch that fixes those problems).
    And for anyone wondering, 18:15 is Snail Shell - Front Armor Girl Victoria. 18:24 is Big Firebird -Scientific Catgirls Sunflower. 18:27 are the ATK Girl Model kits. 18:43 is a model kit by Nuke Matrix -Summer Vivienne. 18:51 Zhuge Liang and Greed are both model kits by MS General.

    Love the tour. I wish we had a store like this. We have 6 million people in my city but none of the figure stores have very good selections. Lots of Pop Up Parade and Funko Pops but few scale figures or Nendroids that I want. And there are a few gacha machines coming in but they're $5 and not worth it to me. Love your red car too! I have a red Kia Sorento about that shade. Thanks for the video!

      Thanks. My car is a Proton X50 (RHD version of Geely Binyue), and it is actually orange color, with a black roof. I picked orange for the reason it is a rare color on vehicles in general. You know how everyone just buys white, silver, grey cars nowadays? As a bonus, it also makes it easy to find your car in a massive car park. Your car just sticks out like a sore thumb in a sea of white and silver vehicles lol.

      @@EXkurogane Those are car models I've never heard of. It's interesting how different cars are marketed with different names depending on country.. I'll have to look yours up! There are a lot of red cars where I am but orange is unusual. Many white cars to reflect heat as I'm in Phoenix, AZ but lots of totally black interiors which is definitely doesn't reflect heat. Weird.

    Why are there $100-200 scale figures stacked on the floor where people can easily walk into it by accident... and then $5 prize/PuP figures get their own shelves.
    This shop is ridiculous.

    • @EXkurogane
      @EXkurogane  3 месяца назад +1

      Unfortunately it's common practice here in my country. Also i don't think you can stack prize figure boxes, because of the small surface area and very light weight. They would topple very easily after just 3 or 4 layers of stacking.

    This place looks amazing and spacious with everything in one location from figures to games but it also looks like a place that sells everything as market price with very little discounts or sales. A more niche local collectors store would probably sell hidden gems at reasonable prices for example. Everything looks like instock merch anyways , nothing old releases.

      Hobby stores have been dying off for the past decade in my state because of various factors from not being able to compete, price-wise, with online options, to the pandemic recently. So it is quite refreshing to see a new one opening. This store will probably survive just fine because they diversified their offerings to include gaming peripherals and also gunpla and mecha stuff.

    • @charlestonjew7587
      @charlestonjew7587 3 месяца назад

      The market just isn't really there in the US. It's certainly grown over the years but hobby stores still focus on Western figs, like DC/Marvel, Funko, Star Wars, etc. and the few you do find are generally marked up the ass like $200-$250 for like a Koto bishoujo and PUPs in the $65-$80 range. Granted, they have to make up for import costs but anime figures in the US are way overpriced in general.

    Holy shit, this is Impulse Gaming? Damn so big, can't even recognize it anymore. I used to go to the Impulse Gaming in Johor 10 years ago when they were just a small shop that only sold games on the 2nd floor of a small mall no one goes to. Still remember the pain of climbing those huge stairs because there's no escalators or elevators there.
    Also, you prefer Western games with realistic graphics? That's a surprise, given 99% of the content you cover on this channel lol

    • @EXkurogane
      @EXkurogane  3 месяца назад +1

      I have never really bought into fantasy RPGs or anything that resembles isekai (regardless of whether it is Japanese, Korean or Western) be it Kingdom Hearts, Genshin or Dark Souls.
      I like games that feel realistic or is a direct parody compared to our current world, so the way Grand Theft Auto, or Far Cry, or The Crew works, or COD modern warfare is something I enjoyed more. Shooters that are a bit Sci Fi like Crysis is also up my alley.
      So yeah, my taste in anime and figures is almost the exact opposite of my taste in games in terms of the setting. However, if i am going to play a game where character design matters (like arcade fighting - street fighter, tekken) or even the likes of Stellar Blade, yeah, the characters need to be attractive to be even worthy of my consideration.
      So my approach towards games has quite a number of different factors. The western games I described are the kind where character designs often don't matter.

    Like I really appreciate the entire bricks and mortar experience (where I am in Singapore) but it's unfortunate that I can at most keep it to window shopping - I can understand the need for them to account for operation/rents but 2 times more.. makes it really hard to stomach. It's not like the figures original retail are low to start with and these stores also usually don't account for the current 'binned' values.
    I can only blame our overall country space constraints which escalate the rents. Such almost warehouse-like size/concept will be next to impossible.

      I think it's because the Japanese do a really bad job with 3D CGI in general, be it anime or games. With anime, for example, there's Ufotable who really knows how to blend CGI with 2D Key animation properly into a well balanced composite, and then there's everyone else making bad CGI regardless of budget. With games it's not too different - only a very small subset of Japanese games had good CGI while the rest are really clunky with very robotic movements.

    • @jackyfan
      @jackyfan 3 месяца назад

      @@EXkurogane I can respect that. Personally I enjoy both worlds. I find the aesthetics of western games too ruggered in a lot of cases while Japanese games tend to have a more 'soft' aesthetic.
