- We have a good patch of sweet corn this year and as we picked some to cook one day, we found 2 corns being pecked by birds so we have to do something about it right away. Weput these grocery bags to scared them. It is very effective, I'll tell you that. No birds messing with our sweet corn ever again and the best part is, it will not cost you anything!

Extra tip, cut the bottoms out of the bags. Otherwise they get full of rain or act like sails in high wind and pull your corn over. Though I've had limited success with this. Seems to work better if you live in a breezier area that keeps the bags moving. In August here (corn season) we often get very still conditions and the birds don't seem to care about the bags anymore.
Great idea. Here in Ohio, we always have high winds especially in our area.
Wow cornfield, this is the good thing about living in a countryside we can plant whatever we want.

That's a brilliant idea ,learning new today.
How did he do it? Bags not working well for me. Birds this side are stubborn. 🇿🇦
@loviousmathe2147 There are really stubborn birds. Fortunately ours here in our area are easy to lure. If bags are not working with you try scared tape or a a metallic ribbon to tie on top of your corn. We usually used it for our elderberry bushes.
Wow thanks!!!
You're welcome
Thank you so much for this
You're welcome. Thank you for stopping by.
Nice good😊
I have 30x24 foot patch of sweet corn the birds destroy every year. Was going to buy bird netting this year. But I may try this cheaper method first. Hope it worked for you.
It worked on us. That's what we do every year on our sweet corn patch. Good luck and keep us posted. Thank you for stopping by
those corns look great , that would be a paradise for my hubby, he planted some but there’s nothing even for the birds yet 🤣 hope you will have a corn party and we can crash it when all this social distancing is over .
Definitely sis. I hope we are just neighbors. Would love to share them. ❤️
Amazi g idea how about the deers ?
I have 3 strands of electric fence to keep land critters out. I put up 100 plastic bags and it didn't even slow the birds down. I lost 30 corn stalks with ears yesterday alone. Going to try some reflective tape tomorrow. Corn plants are 14 feet tall and would be to difficult to try to put netting over. 8 rows 20 feet long.
You must have a lot of birds in your area. It works in here. Actually, we did not put anything this year as we did not see any birds bothering them on our first batch of corn. We will see on our second batch.
Beautiful cornfields and a very good tricks for stopping the birds eating the corns. Very good and less cost techniques
Great tip! I know my grand dad in the Philippines has his ways of protecting his cornfields too!
How do you keep squirrels from eating the ears?
We honestly don’t have a problem with squirrels around here. They don’t bother our corn. Besides. We have electric fence around it.
Hi. What about keeping the birds away from planting corn seeds ? I have had terrible luck they ate the seeds so I had to buy the corn plants. I know it was a lot of money what could I of done differently??
1. Where do you live?
2. What bird species is robbing your corn?
3. How deep are you planting your corn?
We don’t have a problem with birds robbing our corn seed, however, we do have birds robbing fruit. Scare tape is the best and cheapest way to keep most birds away from anything.
I sprout ny corn before planting. It’s up in a day or two.
I like scare crows for tradition
This video gave me wind in my ears.
