When a customer gives excuses, I just say, "No worries, that's why we are here". It is difficult at times, to bite one's tongue on the condition of the house. I'm even mindful of not saying anything negative if a customer isn't home...they could have a video system and be listening/watching. Sometimes I slip and grumble out-loud. It's something I need to work on. After cleaning for 34 years, I still see things that make my toes curl. But, I love what I do!
It depends on the locale, level of dirt, and square footage of the area that needs to be cleaned. Check what others in your area charge for similar services to make sure your price is competitive
Hello Angela, I watch your videos regularly and take every word of advice to heart. Thanks for sharing your wisdom with all of us in the house cleaning business! My question is: how can I let my costumer know that if her house is a disaster (every time I come to clean) I cannot come and make miracles like picking up piles of clothes or get the stink out of bathrooms of people that don’t shower regularly Yes, she hired me to clean and I don’t to voice out my opinion but sometimes is just hard not to 😖
Yes, some replies did disappear! Here is the link to my worksheet: askahousecleaner.com/worksheets-house-cleaning-business/ Make sure the homeowners knows the situation. Mark off what you clean on the worksheet so the homeowner knows what you did clean.
Angela your embarrassment is totally valid! I would be embarrassed too! I hired cleaners for a house we were going to move into that had previously been rented out by horrible tenants. When we came to check on the cleaners after a few hours, they were packing up their stuff and quickly trying to leave. They said they think the house is cursed and they suggested not moving in! I think they were superstitious. I’ve lived in the house for 4 years now and have yet to see any signs of needing an exorcist!😂
What if they have 4 kids that are well within their own right to clean their rooms without my help. Between ages 8-14 🥹 the 3 year old I understand but the others leave their rooms like i haven’t been in there for months and I come once every two weeks or once a week. It’s causing burn out for me AND I’ve asked for the dogs to be put away and they keep them out. You know your dogs but I do not. They could snap at any time. Should I “hold my tongue” and keep coming back or break up? I’m exhausted but really wanna help. Although the pay should be more but that’s a whole other can. Your thoughts or anyone’s is fine 🎈
If you have the time, I've created a short playlist for inspiring and teaching kids to clean their rooms ruclips.net/p/PLh1fKdNH3piS6A1IhjF2Ij7gEwBG7VEVS
No. Before trying anything fancy I always ask myself this question: Am I 100% sure I know what I'm doing? Do I have the proper tools and training to do this? Can I guarantee the outcome? If something goes wrong, do I have the money in the bank to replace, repair or reimburse the owner for it today? If the answer is no to any of the following - I don't try the fancy thing. I wait until I've been trained or I do it the way I have been trained with the proper gear, PPE, and equipment. SO MANY insurance claims can be avoided working smart and using common sense.
@@AskAngelaBrown that's good. I was thinking something along the lines of distractions or careless mistakes. I've damaged my fair share of things spilling bleach or knocking something over while cleaning.
If you hadn't felt bad about what you said would you have charged her extra to remove the hair out of the drain or is that typically considered to be part of a deep clean? My residential life is a little different. I have clients that say their house isn't that bad but in fact it's the opposite..lol
It depends on what is included in a deep cleaning package. If it’s part of the package or the homeowner requested it and you built it in to the price. Then you are being paid for the extra time to do it.
Hi how can I handle telling them I'm finding dog or cat urine under the couch that has been there for several days? Plus a cat that may be urinting on the phone outlet that is a fire hazard ? I'm don't want to make her feel bad . Also the vacuum cleaner is letting out a bad smell .It would actually make the cleaning I was doing smell like I didn't 🥺😟😳 😘💓 you are the best with your advice always 😉
@@AskAngelaBrown Thank you kindly for your help. I get that absolutely she is probably so use to the smell . Totally understand 💗👍 you always know the proper way to explain your solutions 😇🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
No one likes to have something pointed out to them. It can be humiliating. Yet it happened, even though it was unintentional. This is life. We just have to keep those thoughts to ourselves and possibly pass on the little “tricks” we used in a positive manner to help get their home in order (or not)...🤭
I'm sorry Angela I got that situation ones. when I walk though the first time. and I told the lady that I have more interviews. And later I let her know that I found some one. And thnxs her. and never when back to her. I think she got it.😳... I'm honest don't like to pretend is ok, I will probably get sick just to be cleaning that😱.I like to clean just normal cleaning, not months of durynnes. I can't polive some people. I know they need our service but also i need my limits. I respect my self that way, like what you teach us smart way to said .... just not a match for me.😊 take care😉👍

You are so awesome for saying that! And kudos to you for being in the business for 34 years...that's amazing! Wishing you lots of continued success. 😊
I told my cleaner “as you can see, I Suck at cleaning my house”. She was awesome.
She must've enjoyed that, thanks for sharing!
I like it messy
Lol, 😂 each to their own. Thanks for watching! 👍😀
How do you estimate a job you have never done before? Like grout cleaning the mud room. It's a big space. $150?

I always get some excuses 🙄 but you can only take them face value 🤔

Never thought about it this way

Have you ever had to make an insurance claim? If so for what?

Your error was understandable, and I think you redeemed the situation by helping her get to the root of the problem. I think you did well!
