a lot of people speak badly about the oni trilogy because it was different than the og seasons. I always liked it though because it was different. The fighting scenes and graphics and lighting are very very good and I also enjoyed the different looks and voices of characters.
I actually thought about the different Eras as well. But I usually go in a plot kind of way. Era 1: The Legacy of the Green Ninja (Pilot - S3) Era 2: The Fallen Elemental Masters (S4 - S7) Era 3: The Mystery of the Oni (S8 - S10) Era 4: The Secret Rise of the Overlord (S11 - S16)
I consider the 'Wildbrain Era' as the Elemental Saga due to the intention from the creators of having each season focus on an elemental power - how ever well executed this was

Sure video games run on electricity but hardly anything directly related to jays lightning was used in the season, maybe if p;rime empire didnt remove their powers we gotta go something with it, but oh well. Or maybe if jay was the one who powered up prime empire in the first place with his lightning. And also the storm purple lightning thing is kinda just some background effects that dont really effect the plot all that much. However I do think I am gonna start calling it the elemental era because that sounds easily the coolest.

The Island is a special and not a full season so doesn't really count, but kind of focuses on Lightning and Wind combined (Storm), Crystalized is Golden Power/Dragon Power/Oni Power

The 2020-21 years of Ninjago were amazing. Prime Empire was a fine season, and then MoTM was amazing, then The Island was alright, and Seabound was amazing. I remember the hype so well too.
While the revival era was so good for the amazing seasons and all the stopmotion stuff. The oni trilogy just completely smashed it, it really felt like an evolution of the franchise and felt like a true ending to the show that was established in 2011. I honestly never got much into the 11 minute era besides season 11 and crystallized, at this point it honestly feels sort of like filler as you can go from moto to dragons rising and not be confused at all. Still the future looks bright for the show
I really, really, REALLY don’t want to get ahead of myself but I really think dragons rising has the potential to become my favorite era after we get a few more installments of it. Idk what’s in store for these upcoming seasons, but it looks like they’re going for a more “all of this directly connects and builds up overtime” kind of approach. Which is the direct opposite vibe I get from the previous era.

Here’s my honest ranking of the eras: The Revival Era (Season 3 to 7) 10/10 (Ninjago’s peak) The Original run (The Pilots to Season 2) 9/10 The Wildbrain Era (Season 11 to 15) 8/10 The Oni Trilogy (Season 8 to 10) 7/10
According to Tommy Andreasen the 11 Minute Era was supposed to be the "Elemental Saga". And it turned out weak in my opinion. SotFS - focusing on fire and ice but in reality it doesn’t really develop them. Prime Empire - In the original script, Jay was supposed to free his mother from digital imprisonment using his lightning, but it was cut. And eventually, Jay doesn't have his elemental power for about 90% of the season. MotM - ok, this one actually work well Island - well, writers don't really count this as a full season, so, skip Seabound - same as with MotM. Works really well Crystalized - according to T. Andreasen, it was supposed to be about Golden Power. But the only thing we have connected with that is Golden Ultra Dragon, which appeared only in the last episode. On the other hand, we have some development of destruction and a little about creation. And Golden Power is a kind of combination of these essences. So, I'd say, Crystalized works a little better than SotFS but still far from perfect. So, decide for yourself whether to call it "Elemental Saga" or not
Here's how i'd rank them and why. 1. Oni Trilogy: There's literally no competition. it's hands down the best era with the first 2 seasons seeing 2 of the best villains of all time. Amazing character development for Lloyd and Wu becoming a great character for reals. I also really liked moto, especially the last episode of it is really overhated. I really loved the action, the decisions with the revival of garmadon, faith, hunted, and lloyd is as a whole. Harumi was amazing. Garmadon was amazing. 2. Wildbrain era: It's the most overhated one, but I Genuinly really enjoyed the first 4 seasons of the era. SOTFS and Prime Empire are really overhated and I genuinly really enjoyed them, while i won't say both are my favorite, they're still very good, oh, and MOTM and Seabound are in my top 5 of my favorite seasons of the entire show. Crystalized, however, well, you know xD. I disregard it when it comes to this era but I am REALLY IN LOVE with this era. I don't know if prime empire is overhated, but I really enjoyed it because it was extremely fun to watch, and i also love racer 7 and Okino. I loved cole's development, I loved nya's development(I hope it comes back she's one of my favorite), I really loved the ice chapter and how it helps out lloyd grow from Oni trilogy, and all that stuff. I still really loved Vangelis, Kalmaar, and the overlord as villains, and vex is underrated! 3. Elemental era: It comes really close to the wildbrain era for me as it's one of the most nostalgic seasons i've seen. Rebooted was meh, hands of time was alright i guess. S4-6 are seasons that are the most nostalgicly well known as a kid and was really a fun era for me to be a fan. S4 is my 3rd favorite season of the entire show. Skybound, like motm, made jay develop like a champion and for me, made him one of my favorite protagonists of all time(I really want to see old jay personality again in dragons rising). While i won't say skybound is top 5 I still think it's genuinly really good because it did what it wanted to do and did it well and that's all that matters and it's top 6-7 for me. Also I really loved that nya said in that season that she wants to make her own choices. And nadakhan is one of my favorite villains of the entire show because of how he plays mind games with his enemies. Tornament was fun, chen was great, I really loved kai in tornament of elements and lloyd's development of accepting other's fate, including his father, also really liked the backstories in that season. Possession was a fun watch as well but definitly overrated, it's great, but not amazing. Possession had it's problems like cloud kingdom and nya's arc was so mixed for me. Maybe it's just me, but i had fun seeing the ninja going from place to place, and morro is my 2nd favorite villain of the entire show. While i won't say hands of time is good or great, it's still the cannon blast to ninjago's best era of all time. 4. Green ninja era. Maybe because it's old. pilots are nostalgic and i really liked kai. I liked every ninja development in season 1, including lloyd, and pythor is a fantastic villain. Season 2 is close to meh but it's alright, a lot of things in it could have been excecuted better but i loved the scene where lloyd became the USM. What do you think? :D
The third era has also a fascinating structure: 8: (Re-)Birth 9: Survival 10: Death I‘d propose naming the fourth era elemental era: SotFS: fire and ice Prime Empire: lightning* MotM: earth Seabound (+island): water Crystallized: vengestone (& destruction) *: the biggest stretch I think.
The way I describe each era is as follows: Classic Era: Simple It didn't try anything too big, and managed to tell a good story, even if Season 2 had too much filler Revival Era: Big This era introduced so many core things to the show and brought it back into the limelight. Oni Trilogy: Peak The show never got better than this, no doubt about it 11 minute era: Cute Cute can be used as a compliment and an insult, and that's how I describe this era. I love Season 12, 13, and 14, but I really don't like Season 11 (Though not as much as other people) and The Island. And Crystallized, I don't hate, but that's all, it's barely a B- for me.
I really liked about season 1-10, although it still was a show to promote toys, I was a really good kids show, from writing to Worldbuilding. Season 11-16 was when the show started to feel definitely like a kids show, Form the shorter run time, giving the episodes a gimmicky feeling, to the downright bad jokes and much lighter tone than even the pilot

my favourite era is definitely the revival, s4-6 i belive are an equal trio to the oni trilogy but i have way more memories and special moments with these seasons, especially season 6
It's sorta sad how the first and last episodes of the 11-minute era are two of my least favorite episodes in the series. It's tough that the seasons that represent the show like Crystalized are really low-quality in my opinion, but I'm glad that the 11-minute era at least had it's peaks (cough cough Seabound).

i think animation has to go to 11 minute tbh. dragons rising is prettier but the movement (which is what animation is) looks alot better in crystalized
Revival Era was good for sure with S1-5, S6 was a bit weak yet still great yet at S7 you really could feel it that the Ninjago franchise needs fresh air. Oni Trilogy really was the peak with the more darker theme, S8 was extremely good, S9 was somewhat a bit boring whenever the first realm was in the focus while S10 had a weird fake death with Cole but it still was great.
Revival era was so good because if you weren’t around during that time there was a new show called legends of Chima and even though I haven’t seen it in a decade I just remember it being hot ass so when Ninjago came back with season 3 I was hyped beyond belief.
Well...the thing about chima is that it just couldn't compete with ninjago fanbases and storytelling. It felt unfinished and honestly way too rushed. But ninjago never went away...like a month after lego discontinued it leaks came out about sets, so the hype never lost traction. Ninjago was just too much of a beast to take down, which in our case was a really good thing for the lego community!

I actually disagree. Ninjago should’ve not ended with season 10. I’m glad it didn’t. I’m glad it continued longer with other seasons from seasons 11-15/16 and I like that it ended with season 15/16. I know you don’t like that season but I don’t care what you think of it. I thought it was a great season, and a great grand finale to the series in my opinion, I respect your opinion though and I hope you respect mine too I also like that the original series ended on my birthday October 1. I turned 17 that day and now I’m 18 also, I don’t think Ninjago dragons rising will end horribly in a few years. Really good point! With the dragon cores, the golden weapons, techno blades, etc, there are WAY too many magical items that insert some kind of creation aspect to the world, that are constantly changing the plots spontaneously throughout seasons. Not really the techno blades, but the mega weapon in season 2 for sure! They should honestly get rid of the magical item trope and just use character development and the elemental powers as hooks for the storytelling.
Fantastic video Crusty!, my personal favourite era is the revival era, TOE is very nostalgic and the EMS are still one of my favourite parts of the Ninjago universe, but I agree Oni trilogy is peak, especially for the character of Wu and Lloyd. And even Cole, have a great day man!
There are some videos that out line these areas beautifully, and you were spot on. The videos are called Lego Ninjago A Musical Journey. There are 4 parts with each part being one of the 4 areas( before Dragons Rising). It was a 10th anniversary thing on the official Lego RUclips channel.

Honestly these days I feel most nostalgic for the wildbrain era. Or I should say the 11 minute or elemental chapters or whatever. Been a fan since the beginning of season 1 and yet somehow in the last year or two I’ve been very nostalgic for some of the most recent seasons for some reason. Worst to best Era of Ninjago: -Wildbrain Era: Boring and make me sleepy, but Season 13-15 is a 10/10. -First Era: Don't let nostalgia blind you, season 3 was trash, and season 2 was full of filler. -Dragons Rising: Coolest Era ever, Lord Ras one of the most ruthless, coolest villains ever, aside Garmadon or Morro. -Revival Era: Possesion is peak Ninjago, Possesion is the best season ever made. Tournament of Elements is literally Lego mortal kombat, But Skybound and Hands of time is kinda boring. -Oni Trilogy: The darkest, most mature, edgiest, peak of Ninjago. Don't hate the redesigns, nostalgia can blind you.
No No No…. Pls get into the discussion about when ninjago should have ended… because i’ve been saying the same thing. Also I LOVE THE REVIVAL ERA!!!! All of my core memories of ninjago are from this era and I’m so glad you touched up on this.
My ranking of the eras: 1. Oni Trilogy - 8/10 (Great storytelling, S10 feels a bit disconnected, but overall all 3 installments add a lot to the series, and are all in my top 6 of the series 2. Revival Era - 7.5/10 (Really good era, however there are some not so good installments. Rebooted is decent, but I controversially think the finale is trash. Day of the Departed is alright, I do find it to be underrated, and have fun with it. Hands of Time I used to say was decent, but on my last rewatch the dialogue killed me, the 11-Minute Era’s dialogue sucks a lot too, but on paper Hands of Time has the worst dialogue of the series. However, Season 4 is good, and has a great first half, Season 5 is really great, and Season 6 is amazing imo. Overall a bit of a more mixed era compared to my number 1, but overall the lore and “most” of the characterization it added to the series.) 3. OG Era - 6.5/10. (Season 1 is an amazing season, and is one of the best structured seasons of fiction I have ever seen. However, The Pilots are just decent imo and have some iffy dialogue, and Season 2 is just messy, and cringey at times. Overall a decent era, with 1 amazing installment.) 4. 11-Min Era - 2.5/10 (Trashy Era. With the 11 minute format, the overall season screen time may be similar, but due to shorter episodes I feel episodes aren’t able to develop the plot nearly enough for the season to develop at an acceptable pace or in an acceptable manner. Additionally, the 11-min format is full of cringe dialogue left and right, and none of the jokes land. Now granted I was never over the hills for Ninjago humor, but this is Jay a whole nother level of cringe to me. Hands of Time type dialogue in areas, but with the cringe factored dialed up to 11. As for the individual seasons, none of them are good in my opinion. Season 11 was just a total mess, however I do like the ice chapter conceptually despite the bad execution, and I think Last of the Formlings was a fairly decent episode. Season 12 is also less in my opinion, and is just narratively all over the place, and it’s pacing was just as bad if not almost worse in some ways than Season 11. Season 13 was so boring and Cole’s arc lacked development due to the 11 minute format, and wasn’t compelling until the final episode! The Skull Sorcerer was also very generic, and the Munces and Geckles were some of the most annoying characters I’ve seen in fiction! The Island was just horrible, and did not need to exist. Seabound had a few highs, but overall was just as bad as Master of the Mountain until the final 3 eps, and 2 in particular, which the last 2 were just amazing, and genuinely feel like they were written by the Hagemans. Finally, Crystalized was just a total disaster on almost every level, and took all the flaws of the era to the maximum point and with it’s important stake in the narrative causes it to destroy characters, and turn compelling plot points from previous seasons into a joke. Overall, I hate this era! So far, I’m not a big fan of Dragons Rising. I did think the Return to Imperium episode was good, but overall the Wildbrain type writing is still there, it’s just backed up by better ideas and pacing. But even the pacing is quite flawed in my opinion, and it’s just such a hiccup from the first half of the 10 episodes we got to the second. Overall, I do think that maybe this series could eventually reach some higher highs, but at the moment it’s just not good yet in my opinion. I’m not sold on Arin and Sora, Sora was greatv in that one episode I mentioned previously though.
and i know it's a bit ramdom but i would recomend you watch some starkid musicals, they are a 2 hour watch each but they are very enjoyable I would recomend "the guy who didn't like musicals" and "a very potter musical"
Great video! Really enjoyed that. However I dont really agree that Ninjago should've ended at S10, as in my opinion it onyl really serves as a good ending for Lloyd, and not the other ninja. Sure Jay and Nya got engaged, And Kai created the golden weapons which didnt really amount to much importance cuz they defeated them with the tornado of creation instead. But other than that the other characters dont really get a proper ending. Theyre just kinda there. (despite some flaws i have with it) I do think its a pretty solid conclusion to the ONI trilogy tho, because it gives both lloyd and garmadon pretty good arcs, (and this era is mainly about these two). Maybe if it was longer and was a bit more of a team focused season and also had everyone meet the FSM or get some sort of ending like scene like that it couldve been but I really feel like the 11 minute era does a lot for Ninjago and *most* of the ninja but yeah crystalized really isnt the best ending of the original run. But id still rather keep the entire 11 minute era than delete it entirely and go to DR.

I’d call everything from Dragons Rising season 1 and however many seasons will be in that show “The merge era” or something like that or “the unreal era” because of the use of the unreal engine.
Ok everyone loves praising S8. But I have two big problems with it. Remember the part where everyone is fighting the big crab? And the end of that sequence the Ninja propel Lloyd to the bounty. Why? Why would they catapult only Lloyd on there as if he’s gonna defeat the entire gang. And then the Ninja proceed to say “Oh no they got Lloyd”. This was just an excuse to get Lloyd captured for the ritual. We know that Garmadon got all the credit for killing the great devourer. Hurumi’s parents died because of the great devourer. So why is she bringing back the evil side of him to cause more damage and create more kids that will end up like her?
You're missing the point of Harumi I feel. The idea of her character arc is that she got so consumed by hatred that she allowed herself to repeat the cycle of destruction she initially started out to end. This comes to ahead in Hunted when she dies like her parents did.
Curious to see what other people think about this… I still do really love ninjago, but I honestly just think it needs to end when their 4-5 year plan for dragon’s rising ends, there should be no ninjago after that
The revival era was good, Possession and Skybound are among my favorites, but Tournament of Elements and Rebooted are almost completely ruined by the Jay - Nya - Cole thing. Why did that ever exist
4:20 I would call it "the ultrachildlish era" . They infantilised all of the characters (to the point that my country's dub pitched up all of their voices), they made tons of unnecessary fillers during episodes, the plot had some great ideas but executed horribly (every single season expect for 15 had some kind of potential but NONE of them worked), they made Kai 100% comic relief character, and much much more 😒
IN MY OPINION!!! i don't like dragons rising that much. don't get me wrong it is still verry good. just not my favorite season. probably my least favorite. and again, in my opinion, i hope they bring back side characters and don't just kill them off screen like Harumi Dareth garmadon. and even characters like wu, HOPEFULY wu not dead lol. but the vibe of dragons rising isnt the same. weather u hate the past few Ninjago seasons or not. it just doesn't have THAT vibe to it anymore. still love it tho and cant wait to see what happens next.
@@Crusty783Good to know, I became interested in Ninjago in 2015, while Tournament of Elements was airing. I stuck with the show ever since, because it helps inspire my book series. In fact, the aesthetic of my first book was inspired by the aesthetic of Hands of Time.

The 2020-21 years of Ninjago were amazing. Prime Empire was a fine season, and then MoTM was amazing, then The Island was alright, and Seabound was amazing. I remember the hype so well too.

While the revival era was so good for the amazing seasons and all the stopmotion stuff. The oni trilogy just completely smashed it, it really felt like an evolution of the franchise and felt like a true ending to the show that was established in 2011. I honestly never got much into the 11 minute era besides season 11 and crystallized, at this point it honestly feels sort of like filler as you can go from moto to dragons rising and not be confused at all. Still the future looks bright for the show
I really, really, REALLY don’t want to get ahead of myself but I really think dragons rising has the potential to become my favorite era after we get a few more installments of it. Idk what’s in store for these upcoming seasons, but it looks like they’re going for a more “all of this directly connects and builds up overtime” kind of approach. Which is the direct opposite vibe I get from the previous era.
The Oni Trilogy is peak of Ninjago writing, but unfotunatly it works only for Lloyd. Even though he is my favourite character, I wish every ninja get a season of this level

The Revival Era (Season 3 to 7) 10/10 (Ninjago’s peak)
The Original run (The Pilots to Season 2) 9/10
The Wildbrain Era (Season 11 to 15) 8/10
The Oni Trilogy (Season 8 to 10) 7/10
According to Tommy Andreasen the 11 Minute Era was supposed to be the "Elemental Saga". And it turned out weak in my opinion.
SotFS - focusing on fire and ice but in reality it doesn’t really develop them.
Prime Empire - In the original script, Jay was supposed to free his mother from digital imprisonment using his lightning, but it was cut. And eventually, Jay doesn't have his elemental power for about 90% of the season.
MotM - ok, this one actually work well
Island - well, writers don't really count this as a full season, so, skip
Seabound - same as with MotM. Works really well
Crystalized - according to T. Andreasen, it was supposed to be about Golden Power. But the only thing we have connected with that is Golden Ultra Dragon, which appeared only in the last episode. On the other hand, we have some development of destruction and a little about creation. And Golden Power is a kind of combination of these essences. So, I'd say, Crystalized works a little better than SotFS but still far from perfect.
So, decide for yourself whether to call it "Elemental Saga" or not
I would divide the revival between S3-6 and DOTD+S7 because of temporary writer changes

Here's how i'd rank them and why.
1. Oni Trilogy: There's literally no competition. it's hands down the best era with the first 2 seasons seeing 2 of the best villains of all time. Amazing character development for Lloyd and Wu becoming a great character for reals. I also really liked moto, especially the last episode of it is really overhated. I really loved the action, the decisions with the revival of garmadon, faith, hunted, and lloyd is as a whole. Harumi was amazing. Garmadon was amazing.
2. Wildbrain era: It's the most overhated one, but I Genuinly really enjoyed the first 4 seasons of the era. SOTFS and Prime Empire are really overhated and I genuinly really enjoyed them, while i won't say both are my favorite, they're still very good, oh, and MOTM and Seabound are in my top 5 of my favorite seasons of the entire show. Crystalized, however, well, you know xD. I disregard it when it comes to this era but I am REALLY IN LOVE with this era. I don't know if prime empire is overhated, but I really enjoyed it because it was extremely fun to watch, and i also love racer 7 and Okino. I loved cole's development, I loved nya's development(I hope it comes back she's one of my favorite), I really loved the ice chapter and how it helps out lloyd grow from Oni trilogy, and all that stuff. I still really loved Vangelis, Kalmaar, and the overlord as villains, and vex is underrated!
3. Elemental era: It comes really close to the wildbrain era for me as it's one of the most nostalgic seasons i've seen. Rebooted was meh, hands of time was alright i guess. S4-6 are seasons that are the most nostalgicly well known as a kid and was really a fun era for me to be a fan. S4 is my 3rd favorite season of the entire show. Skybound, like motm, made jay develop like a champion and for me, made him one of my favorite protagonists of all time(I really want to see old jay personality again in dragons rising). While i won't say skybound is top 5 I still think it's genuinly really good because it did what it wanted to do and did it well and that's all that matters and it's top 6-7 for me. Also I really loved that nya said in that season that she wants to make her own choices. And nadakhan is one of my favorite villains of the entire show because of how he plays mind games with his enemies. Tornament was fun, chen was great, I really loved kai in tornament of elements and lloyd's development of accepting other's fate, including his father, also really liked the backstories in that season. Possession was a fun watch as well but definitly overrated, it's great, but not amazing. Possession had it's problems like cloud kingdom and nya's arc was so mixed for me. Maybe it's just me, but i had fun seeing the ninja going from place to place, and morro is my 2nd favorite villain of the entire show. While i won't say hands of time is good or great, it's still the cannon blast to ninjago's best era of all time.
4. Green ninja era. Maybe because it's old. pilots are nostalgic and i really liked kai. I liked every ninja development in season 1, including lloyd, and pythor is a fantastic villain. Season 2 is close to meh but it's alright, a lot of things in it could have been excecuted better but i loved the scene where lloyd became the USM.

The way I describe each era is as follows:
Classic Era: Simple
It didn't try anything too big, and managed to tell a good story, even if Season 2 had too much filler
Revival Era: Big
This era introduced so many core things to the show and brought it back into the limelight.
Oni Trilogy: Peak
The show never got better than this, no doubt about it
11 minute era: Cute
Cute can be used as a compliment and an insult, and that's how I describe this era. I love Season 12, 13, and 14, but I really don't like Season 11 (Though not as much as other people) and The Island. And Crystallized, I don't hate, but that's all, it's barely a B- for me.
I really liked about season 1-10, although it still was a show to promote toys, I was a really good kids show, from writing to Worldbuilding. Season 11-16 was when the show started to feel definitely like a kids show, Form the shorter run time, giving the episodes a gimmicky feeling, to the downright bad jokes and much lighter tone than even the pilot
The revival era truly was the best
The 11-minute format was the worst mistake Ninjago ever made. So glad it's back to 22-minutes!!

It's sorta sad how the first and last episodes of the 11-minute era are two of my least favorite episodes in the series. It's tough that the seasons that represent the show like Crystalized are really low-quality in my opinion, but I'm glad that the 11-minute era at least had it's peaks (cough cough Seabound).
Ngl master of the mountain and Seabound is so nostalgic since that’s when I started watching the show during the pandemic and started seeing ninjago videos on RUclips

The revival era is what I consider to be the golden era of the show as seasons 4-6 are my favorite seasons of all time
while I do agree season 10 would have been a good place to stop the season itself doesn't really work as a final season (although neither did crystalized)

I have my own era sort of idea, it isn't based on when or where they are placed but more on the concepts in the show

@@Crusty783 True, Dragons Rising has the animation of Wildbrain, and the cool atmosphere of Possesion. Season 2 is cool and pretty.
Revival Era was good for sure with S1-5, S6 was a bit weak yet still great yet at S7 you really could feel it that the Ninjago franchise needs fresh air.
Oni Trilogy really was the peak with the more darker theme, S8 was extremely good, S9 was somewhat a bit boring whenever the first realm was in the focus while S10 had a weird fake death with Cole but it still was great.
I would say that here are three eras: season pilot - season 10;
season 11 - Crystalized;

Revival era was so good because if you weren’t around during that time there was a new show called legends of Chima and even though I haven’t seen it in a decade I just remember it being hot ass so when Ninjago came back with season 3 I was hyped beyond belief.
Well...the thing about chima is that it just couldn't compete with ninjago fanbases and storytelling. It felt unfinished and honestly way too rushed. But ninjago never went away...like a month after lego discontinued it leaks came out about sets, so the hype never lost traction. Ninjago was just too much of a beast to take down, which in our case was a really good thing for the lego community!
I'm a Ninjago fan from S6 which is the revival era and I'm a proud Ninjago fan.

I actually disagree. Ninjago should’ve not ended with season 10. I’m glad it didn’t. I’m glad it continued longer with other seasons from seasons 11-15/16 and I like that it ended with season 15/16. I know you don’t like that season but I don’t care what you think of it. I thought it was a great season, and a great grand finale to the series in my opinion, I respect your opinion though and I hope you respect mine too I also like that the original series ended on my birthday October 1. I turned 17 that day and now I’m 18 also, I don’t think Ninjago dragons rising will end horribly in a few years. Really good point! With the dragon cores, the golden weapons, techno blades, etc, there are WAY too many magical items that insert some kind of creation aspect to the world, that are constantly changing the plots spontaneously throughout seasons. Not really the techno blades, but the mega weapon in season 2 for sure! They should honestly get rid of the magical item trope and just use character development and the elemental powers as hooks for the storytelling.
Or more specifically, the "Artifact of Power" trope lol my bad.
Fantastic video Crusty!, my personal favourite era is the revival era, TOE is very nostalgic and the EMS are still one of my favourite parts of the Ninjago universe, but I agree Oni trilogy is peak, especially for the character of Wu and Lloyd. And even Cole, have a great day man!

Honestly these days I feel most nostalgic for the wildbrain era. Or I should say the 11 minute or elemental chapters or whatever. Been a fan since the beginning of season 1 and yet somehow in the last year or two I’ve been very nostalgic for some of the most recent seasons for some reason. Worst to best Era of Ninjago:
-Wildbrain Era: Boring and make me sleepy, but Season 13-15 is a 10/10.
-First Era: Don't let nostalgia blind you, season 3 was trash, and season 2 was full of filler.
-Dragons Rising: Coolest Era ever, Lord Ras one of the most ruthless, coolest villains ever, aside Garmadon or Morro.
-Revival Era: Possesion is peak Ninjago, Possesion is the best season ever made. Tournament of Elements is literally Lego mortal kombat, But Skybound and Hands of time is kinda boring.
-Oni Trilogy: The darkest, most mature, edgiest, peak of Ninjago. Don't hate the redesigns, nostalgia can blind you.

No No No…. Pls get into the discussion about when ninjago should have ended… because i’ve been saying the same thing. Also I LOVE THE REVIVAL ERA!!!! All of my core memories of ninjago are from this era and I’m so glad you touched up on this.
My ranking of the eras:
1. Oni Trilogy - 8/10 (Great storytelling, S10 feels a bit disconnected, but overall all 3 installments add a lot to the series, and are all in my top 6 of the series
2. Revival Era - 7.5/10 (Really good era, however there are some not so good installments. Rebooted is decent, but I controversially think the finale is trash. Day of the Departed is alright, I do find it to be underrated, and have fun with it. Hands of Time I used to say was decent, but on my last rewatch the dialogue killed me, the 11-Minute Era’s dialogue sucks a lot too, but on paper Hands of Time has the worst dialogue of the series. However, Season 4 is good, and has a great first half, Season 5 is really great, and Season 6 is amazing imo. Overall a bit of a more mixed era compared to my number 1, but overall the lore and “most” of the characterization it added to the series.)
3. OG Era - 6.5/10. (Season 1 is an amazing season, and is one of the best structured seasons of fiction I have ever seen. However, The Pilots are just decent imo and have some iffy dialogue, and Season 2 is just messy, and cringey at times. Overall a decent era, with 1 amazing installment.)
4. 11-Min Era - 2.5/10 (Trashy Era. With the 11 minute format, the overall season screen time may be similar, but due to shorter episodes I feel episodes aren’t able to develop the plot nearly enough for the season to develop at an acceptable pace or in an acceptable manner. Additionally, the 11-min format is full of cringe dialogue left and right, and none of the jokes land. Now granted I was never over the hills for Ninjago humor, but this is Jay a whole nother level of cringe to me. Hands of Time type dialogue in areas, but with the cringe factored dialed up to 11. As for the individual seasons, none of them are good in my opinion. Season 11 was just a total mess, however I do like the ice chapter conceptually despite the bad execution, and I think Last of the Formlings was a fairly decent episode. Season 12 is also less in my opinion, and is just narratively all over the place, and it’s pacing was just as bad if not almost worse in some ways than Season 11. Season 13 was so boring and Cole’s arc lacked development due to the 11 minute format, and wasn’t compelling until the final episode! The Skull Sorcerer was also very generic, and the Munces and Geckles were some of the most annoying characters I’ve seen in fiction! The Island was just horrible, and did not need to exist. Seabound had a few highs, but overall was just as bad as Master of the Mountain until the final 3 eps, and 2 in particular, which the last 2 were just amazing, and genuinely feel like they were written by the Hagemans. Finally, Crystalized was just a total disaster on almost every level, and took all the flaws of the era to the maximum point and with it’s important stake in the narrative causes it to destroy characters, and turn compelling plot points from previous seasons into a joke. Overall, I hate this era!
So far, I’m not a big fan of Dragons Rising. I did think the Return to Imperium episode was good, but overall the Wildbrain type writing is still there, it’s just backed up by better ideas and pacing. But even the pacing is quite flawed in my opinion, and it’s just such a hiccup from the first half of the 10 episodes we got to the second. Overall, I do think that maybe this series could eventually reach some higher highs, but at the moment it’s just not good yet in my opinion. I’m not sold on Arin and Sora, Sora was greatv in that one episode I mentioned previously though.
and i know it's a bit ramdom but i would recomend you watch some starkid musicals, they are a 2 hour watch each but they are very enjoyable I would recomend "the guy who didn't like musicals" and "a very potter musical"

Great video! Really enjoyed that. However I dont really agree that Ninjago should've ended at S10, as in my opinion it onyl really serves as a good ending for Lloyd, and not the other ninja. Sure Jay and Nya got engaged, And Kai created the golden weapons which didnt really amount to much importance cuz they defeated them with the tornado of creation instead. But other than that the other characters dont really get a proper ending. Theyre just kinda there.
(despite some flaws i have with it) I do think its a pretty solid conclusion to the ONI trilogy tho, because it gives both lloyd and garmadon pretty good arcs, (and this era is mainly about these two).
Maybe if it was longer and was a bit more of a team focused season and also had everyone meet the FSM or get some sort of ending like scene like that it couldve been but I really feel like the 11 minute era does a lot for Ninjago and *most* of the ninja but yeah crystalized really isnt the best ending of the original run. But id still rather keep the entire 11 minute era than delete it entirely and go to DR.

I’d call everything from Dragons Rising season 1 and however many seasons will be in that show “The merge era” or something like that or “the unreal era” because of the use of the unreal engine.
In my opinion, in the 11 minute era there were really good seasons, really bad seasons and fine seasons
Ok everyone loves praising S8. But I have two big problems with it. Remember the part where everyone is fighting the big crab? And the end of that sequence the Ninja propel Lloyd to the bounty. Why? Why would they catapult only Lloyd on there as if he’s gonna defeat the entire gang. And then the Ninja proceed to say “Oh no they got Lloyd”. This was just an excuse to get Lloyd captured for the ritual.
We know that Garmadon got all the credit for killing the great devourer. Hurumi’s parents died because of the great devourer. So why is she bringing back the evil side of him to cause more damage and create more kids that will end up like her?
You're missing the point of Harumi I feel. The idea of her character arc is that she got so consumed by hatred that she allowed herself to repeat the cycle of destruction she initially started out to end. This comes to ahead in Hunted when she dies like her parents did.

4:20 I would call it "the ultrachildlish era" . They infantilised all of the characters (to the point that my country's dub pitched up all of their voices), they made tons of unnecessary fillers during episodes, the plot had some great ideas but executed horribly (every single season expect for 15 had some kind of potential but NONE of them worked), they made Kai 100% comic relief character, and much much more 😒

For me the oni trilogy is the best era
IN MY OPINION!!! i don't like dragons rising that much. don't get me wrong it is still verry good. just not my favorite season. probably my least favorite. and again, in my opinion, i hope they bring back side characters and don't just kill them off screen like Harumi Dareth garmadon. and even characters like wu, HOPEFULY wu not dead lol. but the vibe of dragons rising isnt the same. weather u hate the past few Ninjago seasons or not. it just doesn't have THAT vibe to it anymore. still love it tho and cant wait to see what happens next.

I stuck with the show ever since, because it helps inspire my book series. In fact, the aesthetic of my first book was inspired by the aesthetic of Hands of Time.
