If this magnificent Duo ever reads this, I wish to share my gratitude for their graceful return to bless us all with the Magic they call music & lyrics ... welcome back home dear ones. You were sorely missed as deeply as the sounds you convey for us all to dip into again. 🙏THANK YOU.
Wow, before reading your comment I was thinking the same as you if I would have the chance to see them in person ! Please, Tracy and Ben come to Mexico
I guess what makes me most happy about this is that they are still together, and they still love working and being together. The fact that I still love their music doesn't hurt, lol.
This is proof for all of us who are the same age as this magnificent duo that we are all still alive. Older, wiser a bit worn but still living and making the best lives we can. Thank you EBTG, we still need you!
I'm so happy to see both of these people being their genuine selves and not trying to look like they did in the 90s. Time has taken its toll on all of us, but it's also given us gifts. This video reminded me of that fact and I'm grateful.
... I was born in 1966... I first heard ETBTG in 1984. ETBTG has been with me ever since... I'm probably a person who tends towards melancholy. In principle, ETBTG's music doesn't make it any easier... But: It has given me so many hours of being with myself... I'm very grateful for that. If I could sing... I would sing like ETBTG :-). Again, I'm very grateful here... Thank you.
What a great video - no auto tune, no incessant flashing lights, no background dancers. Just a casual, chill session by an awesome duo. Tracey's vocals are so finely tuned.
Discovered EBTG in 83 or 84, and was transfixed. Now all these years later I look around and see that so many others see what I do too. Isn't it just a wonderful feeling? So glad to see them back!
Just when we needed them the most, the came back. My teenage angst disappeared when I snapped Tracy and Ben into my Sony Walkman. Can't wait for more... and a tour...
I fell in love with EBTG in 1990 while on tour with my own band. During the long hours traveling, we would all share music we had brought along with each other, and our bass player had a copy of The Language of Life. I basically "took it away from him". All I wanted to do on that tour was listen to that CD over and over again. While we were going down the road the other guys in the band were playing various songs on the stereo system, but I had my little portable CD player and my headphones on listening to Driving and all the other incredible song on that album. It was transformative for me because I had never heard a voice like Tracy's before or since. I am so grateful to be able to hear this wonderful musical treasure making music again. I feel like I am late to the party, and almost embarrassed I have not discovered this newest offering until now. Thank you Tracy and Ben for all the years of joy and musical inspiration you have given me and everyone who loves your music. I miss you. To echo an earlier comment, we ALL still need you. In fact the whole world needs you!
It moves me so deeply to see you two ageing in such a natural and pleasant way and stay so young and timeless in your music. Walking wounded, Temperamental and Fuse: Three soundtracks of my life.
You simply can't argue Tracey & Ben have written the most astonishing tracks over the years and posses an incredible talent to project images through the power of music.
There's something about this song that just stays with you. It reminds me of the first time I heard Driving, and Talk To Me Like The Sea.. and of course, Missing
Tracey Thorn has always been one of my all time favorite female vocalists. Such a pure and flawless voice and Ben Watt's talents are truly exceptional.
Used to listen to EBTG a lot in '93/'94. Finally encountered this song. Seeing the change between the two era's really lays out my own life in front of me. It's been a while.
I am a woman "of a certain age," who also sings. I have been struggling with my singing voice, and started reading a book called "Singing Through Change". Listening to Tracey's rich voice is such a treat. Her voice has aged beautifully, "like a fine wine." I love "comebacks"(sorry, I don't even like that word)
Nice. Beautiful track. We all know Everything but the Girl from our childhood/teenage years maybe even my early twenties, I can't remember when they first appeared. They're one of those bands that have a permanent place in our memories. It's good to see them back, and with the same class and quality as before.
...the melancoly and the poetry of my fifteen came back in a minute...me and some close friends used to listen to english music of the eighties from a little italian town, Sanremo. Luckily we have a music festival in town and our heroes came here one day or another: Everything but the girl, Smiths, Terence Trent D'arby, Curiosity killed the cat, Sade, Prefab Sprout....glorious and romantic days
What I love about this song is how the lyrics reflect this inflated optimism, bragging, breaking rules, etc, and yet the delivery is so thoughtful and almost pained at times, then slowing into beautiful softness and the echoes of loops at the end. It's so many things at once. Poised and brilliant, shot through with a ton of hopes and dreams.
If you still don't know what real music is, come here and you'll find out straight away. So minimal, so refreshing. We so much need this, these days. Thanks guys for being back! ❤
@@eugene2655 I think it’s the tone that I still love. I see what you mean, her voice has matured, but there’s something in there that still takes me back
I can remember buying their first solo albums before they teamed up as a duo. This is a group that released albums at significant points in my life and looking back, I am amazed at how important their songs were to me thru the years. Very few groups survived thru the 80's and 90's- Eurythmics, Sade, Madonna, Simply Red come to mind. It's nice to grow older with your favorites.
Your class and longevity are top notch, my x wife recently died at the young age of 56 she was American and she adored you guys, we saw you in New York in the late 80s.
This track just gets more and more important to me every time I hear it. Nothin I have heard in 2023 has come close to having the impact it has on me.❤
This is amazing. I still can’t believe I’m listening news songs from this duo. Always my favorite, been listening to them since I was 14yrs old. Even named my son after a song of them!
It's about time this album is long overdue. I have been listening to some of your old albums lately and getting a little nostalgic and thinking about a lot of my old mates and the good times when I was younger living in London and abroad. And I want to say thank you to you both for the memories, and I am looking forward to listening to your new album.
Tracy and Ben are amazing. I've been a fan since Amplified Heart and so glad to see them back in the study....what some 24 years later. They still got it!! We want more..
the soundtrack of my life since north marine drive .Love them as a couple ,love them as musicians .They bring hope .We need it ! Thank you for coming back to soundtrack this beleaguered nation .
Where did the years go?? Aging has been a struggle over the past couple of years. I have lost the vibrancy of my youth and wonder everyday where this life is taking me. This song hit me tonight like a ton of bricks and reminded me that I still have some life as long as I am still here. I want to breathe, I want to offer passion, I want to feel, I want to rekindle that flicker of ambition. Let us taste the moments that we all hope to feel again as we age.
Still remember the first time I heard the rich tones & fab songs of EBTG - '86, Sunday afternoon, Virgin Records Aberdeen. Baby the stars shine bright was playing when I entered the shop. Unbelievable sound so straight to the counter & asked what it was. Album bought after hearing 1st track! Like so many others, I pretty much wore that album out!. So happy to hear the interview on 6music & looking forward to getting my hands on Fuse
Devastatingly Beautiful. I remember I was Driving when I heard this on Sirius… And almost Ran a Red Light indeed. Haven’t stopped listening… Just added more EBTG to my playlists ❤
Glad to see this duo still cranking out excellence .- Their sound kind of paralleled Sade sound in a sophista-pop way at that time early 90’s . I’d listen to them then listen to Stevie Ray Vaughn next night . former girlfriend turned me on to this music - kind why I liked my baby dont love me -this music is exceptional listening to language of life on my flight now and some of the remixes. Take me , Imagining America - great stuff cant believe it’s 33 years on.
Tracey I don't think any of us can comprehend how good your voice sound. From "Eden" until NOW. Yet another brilliant installment from you and Ben. It makes me so happy that you took this project on. This song is truly beautiful.. the QUALITY of this video - the feel, the mood and most importantly your voice. Poetic. I remember where I was the first time I heard "Driving." I was driving (what else?) at night through the desert somewhere east of LA, and the song completely captivated me. I love their music!
I loved Missing, Driving, Single and the remix versions were always interesting and sometimes challenging as this isn’t always my usual go to style of music . Hearing this I’m back in love with them . National treasure.

Older but still effortlessly cool !!!
I just noticed that there’s only 1 week age difference between Tracey Thorn and me. I’m 61 too. She inspires me to do more with my life. ❤️

1964 here! I feel the same
EBTG.
1966 too! 😁
Tracey’s voice has matured like the finest of wines. I’ve loved these guys from the Cherry Red days to now.
I totally disagree : her lilt is now almost masculine and doesn't have the same impact..just my opinion..
@@paulcamacho360 The song was written in a lower key to give it a warm feel, her high vocals are still there in the backing harmonies.
This is like magic. It's been so many years. I believe again.
Tracey has a voice that can make a grown man cry even if she’s singing from the telephone book.
I agree... I am 38, and... I...
What a great video - no auto tune, no incessant flashing lights, no background dancers. Just a casual, chill session by an awesome duo. Tracey's vocals are so finely tuned.
I agree, but there seems to be a bit of autotune (pitch correction) used in some places. Subtle, but always unnecessary.
Traceys voice is unrecognizable. It becomes a big voice.
Nothing wrong with any of those things. Stop being pretentious.
Their official music vid for this song has beautiful choreography dancing
' no autotune ' tells me this person is just spouting cliches
Utterly utterly gorgeous. No words. It’s been a hard day. You’ve just made it a hell of a lot better.
Coming back to this. Best marriage counseling ever: making a band and creating amazing music for the world.

Goosebumps all over ; what a stunning song and performance; Tracy’s voice wow
There is a glorious maturity now to Tracy's voice. A new chapter and a welcome return.
Tracey Thorn has always been one of my all time favorite female vocalists. Such a pure and flawless voice and Ben Watt's talents are truly exceptional.
I love Tracy Thorn's voice.
Nice to know there are still true artists in our era.
Here lies the reason why I bought the first album. and my god, what a triumphant return. Stunningly beautiful. Well worth the wait!

One of my best summers was when from the radio I heard the following....."and I miss you..oh oh...like the deserts miss the rain"...👍👍👍👍👍👍

Beautifully melancholic. Understated and so atmospheric.
All true fans will appreciate not only the comeback but the ability to constantly produce timelles classics. ❤
And will have been following both of their fantastic solo work 😉
Yeah two classics on this LP is great, first album in 30 years is very far from constant tho
The master of London Grammar, from the 90s. Big music in all the times.

EBTG returns after 24 years, dazzling more than ever. Thanks for Fuse! So glad that you are still putting out music.

I was at your farewell concert - Hammersmith- cried my eyes out - so glad your back,- please play small live venues. Your timeless💚☘️
Just fantastic, I love how Tracey’s voice has darkened and the music is sublime. Bravo!

Really? 60 here and it makes me feel 60. Dramatic change in her voice but I still like it.

Yes! Exactly
Absolutely xxx
