I think it is a prime example of Dolly being a woman who groomed a minor or took advantage of someone vulnerable, rather than a bizarre love triangle. If the same circumstances involved an old man and a young girl or woman, people would be outraged instead of finding it amusing or shaming the victim. Therefore, she was a repulsive human being. If she were alive today, she would likely end up in prison or on the sex offender list. It is important to acknowledge that there are female predators, not just men.
I agree - this is something important to acknowledge! I'm sure most are men, but just as there have always been female murderers too, there are female abusers, female sexual predators, female rapists. And while certainly women are by far more likely to be victims, men can be too. It's important to spread awareness that these things happen - and no matter who by or to. Everyone needs to feel safe to speak out if something happens to them. And we still have a long way to go, for all victims.
I believe it may have been a cycle of grooming. A 15 yo and a 12 yo have no business dating each other. Sure, they were both minors, but she was still very very young AND she was his father’s employee. That’s two severe power imbalances at play before the marriage even began. And she continues the cycle of imbalanced power by keeping a minor locked in her home. His most formative years as a man were spent at her complete beck and call.
That was a really bizarre story! I feel like Otto was the real victim here. Groomed from early age, isolated from society and kept as a pet for years by an older woman. Truly sad.
@@lovingmayberry307 A lot of people don't have anyone but they don't go live in an attic as a sex slave for ten years and only see one person who was obviously using him.

So Dolly's husband never ever went up to the attic in any of the houses he ever lived in? I find that hard to believe. In ten years and multiple moves Dolly's husband never ever went up to the attic?
From the sounds of it they weren't attics that were really accessible from the house, at least not in a reasonable way, and most people don't try to find attic entrances in their closets. I have an attic in my house but it can only be accessed from the roof, I've lived here for a decade and have never gone up there.
Maybe he just didn’t care, since his wife was a housewife, so an attic would really just be something for his wife to use as storage and not as something he’d consider as a part of the house in that sense. When we accessed the attic some years after the house was bought (accessible only from the outside, by ladder) the only thing we found was a giant wasps nest. When I say giant, I mean it was like 5 times the size of my head.
Fascinating and bizarre. She really put a spell on otto to put up with all he did, including her taking up with someone else after the murder when they could finally have slowly begun to make a life together. Very cruel.

It's unsettling to think that someone can be living in your home without your knowledge (for months / years). I'm surprised Dottie was able to pull this off for so long. There's usually that one nosy neighbor keeping watch.
I think this says something about the husbands or possibly the mansions they lived in, that they didn’t grasp that Otto was there, also this was the tail end of the era of “servant quarters” I think that may have played into her ability to pull it off, as some homes would have had things like back stairs and weird access points to rooms.
I'm glad Otto didn't have to spend a long time in prison, at least, if the events occurred as described. A 17-year-old Otto fell in love with the 33-year-old Dolly, one year off double his age. Dolly ends up convincing him to move into her attic. Otto was not able to speak to anyone other than Dolly for years and years. Otto hears a violent fight. Excellent choice! This is the strangest cuckolded husband murdered by plotting wife's younger boyfriend, cases in history. I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't watched it yet but this story has so many strange twists you'd think it's fiction if you saw the events on screen. The story has the dark humor of a movie like raising Arizona. It has hilarious twists but a tragic ending. And the odd aspect where pity is felt for the stories antagonist despite their crime. It's also uniquely the first instance of obvious Stockholm syndrome long before it was a recognized affliction.
I can't. I just can't. Some people are so weak-minded that they become abused by aggressive narcissists. I can't believe there was (or is) a statute of limitations for manslaughter. I had no idea. I am glad they had to go through the trials, but I think Otto was not only insane but just pathetic as hell. Dolly was worse.
I have in fact heard of a story very much like this. Two in fact. One was sad and miserable the other was....just funny imo. The latter I will discuss in full. I noticed on my trek to the bus stop at five a.m. that a house had a sleeping bag hanging off of the roof a smidge. I could see that green shiny material and the zipper and knew what it was. Also a huge pile of cigarette butts lying under it on the ground. Turns out a guy that lived there had a girl living on the roof that he was seeing on the sly of his wife. Lmao. Had a whole little estate up there with candles and stuff everywhere. It was the sleeping bag was what got them caught.
This case was what the film, starring Shirley MacLaine and Richard Attenborough, The Bliss of Mrs. Blossom, was based on. PS. The film has a happier ending. Like your content.
lol that pause says it all 😅 yeah she locked that poor bloke away. He could have over powered her maybe but she must have had something going on to make him stay there. I haven't got to the end yet
This is why they say psychological abuse can be far worse than physical abuse. She never chained, tied, or beat him that we know of, but he never voluntarily left her home. He was truly her slave.
Also known as dolly ostrich. She’s brought a new meaning to the term “fully furnished”. I feel sorrier for all the small dead mammals in her shoulders than I do for Fred

I've never heard of a statue of limitations on murder
Under different circumstances, I would've ENJOYED living Otto's life in this situation xD
7:02 😂😂😂 I only just discovered your Channel today and I absolutely love your presenting style ❤
Crazy story man!!!! Crazier still.......Up tp 8 times??????
If they hadn't committed murder, Otto would have spent his whole life sleeping in the attic and comming out during the day to spend time with Dolly.
Everyone talking about how poor Otto was groomed and abused but I was a 17 year old boy once and I guarantee you he was loving life.
Great story and video. Thank you.
Yes, "The Bliss of Mrs Blossom". An amusing film, very much a product of the 1960's, with it's surreal style. I liked the way He did up the attic.
Great stories. Thank you❤
That was very bizarre! It doesn’t sound like Otto had much self confidence. Very sad story. Dolly didn’t care about him, she cared about herself.
Wow Paul! This is the most bizarre story that I’ve ever heard! I honestly couldn’t keep up with who was with whom! Lol. Blessings to you! ❤️✝️
I always thought this was an interesting case. Thanks for the upload on the Victoria Day 2023 long weekend!
It's certainly a very bizarre one. I wonder how long it would have gone on if the murder hadn't take place. 🤔
Thank you for watching!
lol that pause says it all 😅 yeah she locked that poor bloke away. He could have over powered her maybe but she must have had something going on to make him stay there. I haven't got to the end yet
This is why they say psychological abuse can be far worse than physical abuse. She never chained, tied, or beat him that we know of, but he never voluntarily left her home. He was truly her slave.
I think you did a great job!!! Keep it up!!
Also known as dolly ostrich. She’s brought a new meaning to the term “fully furnished”. I feel sorrier for all the small dead mammals in her shoulders than I do for Fred
