  • An impossible reputation to live up to, and a design that should've felt futuristic, but didn't. Not every Lamborghini model was an instant hit.

Very silly video, comparing the Jalpa to a V12 Lamborghini Countach. Then saying it only had 250 HP, but back then it was normal, the Ferrari 308 gtsi only had 210, and it was a direct competitor, ugh.

Narrator; "Jalpa looks like a dopey wedge", same sentance " big brother Countach is breathtaking". I don't think he understands what a wedge looks like. Countach largest design feature is it's wedge shape.

Love the Jalpa. Great design and exists for a different purpose. Unlike the modern V10s it doesn't copy the V12 silhouettes. It has its own shape.

Everything you're saying is literally the opposite of everything in MotorTrend's Sept 2023 three page article on the Jalpa. They say it's better than the Countach!

I disagree with your conclusion and only sales level could be plausibly argued as a basis for the car being failure. The Jalpa has aged, aesthetically speaking, very well. Further a 5.8 second 0-60 time was very fast for the era and squarely within supercar territory. Ferrari 328 was 5.5. Porsche 911 Carrera was 5.8. Ferrari 512bbi claimed 5.2 but was closer to 6.0. 1984 Countach 5.4. 1984 Corvette 7.0. Aston Vantage 5.2. Several of these cars had larger displacement engines.

Halfway through this video - *Is this a joke?*
    The video I mean.
    "It looks like a wedge."
"It looks cheaper than the Countach"
"The Ferrari Mondial looks lightyears better."
"It's slower than the Buick Grand National"'
    Arbitrary comparisons extravaganza.
That gets old fast which I assume you must be joking.
Not a single mention of its technical aspects or the fact i was essentially an Urraco underneath with another "updated bodykit" on top. Which essentially means you know *nothing* .
Whatever next? It's twice as expensive as the Audi Sport Quattro but half as fast on rally stages??
    How old are you? 12?
    That is if you're serious.

Yes, in my view the Jalpa was a lame update of the Urraco, an extremely beautiful car in my view. The fenders on the Jalpa are ugly and the rear portion where the engine is located looks hump-backed and ugly.
As far as the V8 goes, it was created during the bad old years of the smog era. I imagine a proper rebuild resulting in a higher compression engine with livelier cams would wake this car up in a big way. I'd guess this engine could produce 320 hp in a very drivable configuration.
I'd love to have one and then backdate what body work I could to resemble the Urraco. But alas, all these old exotics are commanding huge money these days. So that will never happen.

This is an opinionated unfair review..Jalpas are desirable among collectors. Its got a cool look and great exhaust notes. The narrator is a snob

Very subjective and uninformed review of a true masterpiece! Whoever wrote this trash piece has a few screws loose! The Jalpa was an adaptation of the Urraco Silhouette which was designed by non other than Marcello Gandini. (RIP)
To call this car “goofy” is sacrilegious and lacks intelligent opinion and commentary! Just stick with your Pontiac Aztec daily driver and find a new career! 🤦🏻‍♂️
