      Nick Jones I do a bunch of short range local driving and only get about 18mpg usually. But out on the highway it goes up into the 30s quickly so overall not too bad. Just sucks only using premium all the time when everyone else is complaining about gas prices. I do love the car overall though, and can’t wait to start doing some mods.

    Had the local dealers asking $42000 for Civic Type R. I made a couple offers for msrp (these were 2019 models btw and 2020 is out and much improved) and lowest they would go was $38000!! So I walked. I got my Veloster N for $27,000 with Performance Pack! Already did intake and tinting, ordering a downpipe, caster bushings, and short shift levers, waiting for Tork to have a plug and play tuner module. After all that I'll still be over $9000 cheaper than a stock 2019 Type R and I'll be around 75 more horsepower and 200 more torque!

    Uhm, maybe we don't need Veloster N's with a DSG and paddle shifters, we need more people driving and buying manuals.
    I daily drive an SI, test drove an N today, and have also driven the RS. Still love my SI overall, but no denying the handling magic and brilliant mode customization in the N. Worthy car, especially with the performance package - a must. A bit claustrophobic feeling compared to my SI sedan though, and the side mirrors are tiny.

    Good video! I’d like to hear more about the third door in the rear. What’s living with it like? More inconvenient than having traditional 2 doors?

    • @TheGentlemanRacer
      @TheGentlemanRacer  5 лет назад +1

      Actually, it worked fine for me, the only thing I could see being a little bit of a pain is if you had a child safety seat and needed both rear seats,

    • @PiroFyre
      @PiroFyre 5 лет назад +4

      Nothing really inconvenient about it actually. Checking your right blind spot would be hell if it was just a 2 door and the the rear window is the same size as the what the drivers side is right now. You would need a blind spot mirror on the side mirrors but with those being small, it's a little hard to tell if there's a car there or not. Another thing that's more of a pet peeve of mine is people climbing over seats to get in the back. I'd rather not have their dirty shoes hit the seats and I'd rather not have people move my drivers seat at all.
      I think people hate on it because of their OCD or just the fact that it's a Hyundai and it's different than a normal car coupe/sedan. After owning the N for 2 months, I haven't found anything negative about that 3rd door. I don't really transport people but when I had to go pick up my tires from UPS and folded down the rear seats, that 3rd door came in handy to slide the tires further to fit them all. So nothing negative about it at all.

    • @TheGentlemanRacer
      @TheGentlemanRacer  4 года назад

      It is a lot of performance for the money, for a daily driver you won't see a major difference, but if you can spring for the performance pack it would likely be better when you go to sell the car down the road.

    I have the 2019 Civic SI with ktuner 2.5 inch MagnaFlow exhaust & just a K&N drop-in filter. I test drove the Veloster n performance for about a 40-minute test drive tried out all the different modes it did not even feel faster than my Civic running 21 PSI maybe a little bit quicker in the mid-range but the handling was much sharper, chassis felt much more rigid & brakes very positive but not too much different than my Civic when I had the summer tire package on (goodyear F1's)... & both 🚗💨 same # on skidpad 0.96 g's. Not bad 4 a civic Si. Veloster & RS focus VERY similar in tight chassis, brakes & handling. But I like my Civic SI more than any of those because I get between 35 & 47 MPG in the city (easy) & that's no joke. Sorry 4 long comment

    Do they give the option of buying a spare tire?Being up there in years Im not into putting a plug in the tire in the middle of the desert in Az. when its 115 outside and depending on the flat and it tears the tread you are screwed then and AAA will not plug the tire because of liability reasons.I just don't understand why they didn't put in lower driving lights in it like the euro hatchback maybe 2020 or the aftermarket will do it.If you have direct ties to them as in feed back tell them we want lower driving lights.Hood vents would be nice also.

    Nice review, sorry you lost your video footage. That sucks. I retired from 20 years of car sales. The 1st 15 years I sold high end luxury cars. However car sales has really changed over the years. Good for the consumers. Not so much for the honest sales people. I had JD Power customer satisfaction rating in the high 90% range (if not100% CSI) month after month year after year. I’m now retired, got tired of the late hours and working every weekend. The last 5 years in the business I actually sold Hyundai and Genesis. That company has really improved over the years. Before I retired I bought my wife an Elantra Limited. She loves the car and so do I. However it is her Dailey driver not mine.
    It has been 100% perfect since day 1! Just oil, tires and it hasn’t even needed breaks yet, however that might change this summer.
    I’m thinking about a Veloster (Turbo) or a clean certified Genesis 3.8 Coupe for me this summer. Really like the new Veloster N but 20 years of car sales has really provided me with an education. The Hyundai dealer I worked for would probably give ma a good deal on the N but I wouldn’t even ask them to. I’ll wait a couple of years for them to come out with the AWD version or the new Genesis Coupe. I’m not in a big hurry, I’m retired but not so old that I can’t wait a few more years to get what I really want. However this summer it will probably be either the Veloster R-Spec or a nice low mile 3.8 Coupe. Subbing.
