If you meet requirements for seeking asylum in South America there are many countries you can seek asylum in long before you get to the United States. And to make it clear... "the economy sucks in my country" is not a legitimate reason to seek asylum.

Wouldnt it be more likely that the reason border crossings are declining rn is because the gov of texas and other border states are placing a concentrated effort into preventing border crossings specifically because there were such a large number of potential immigrants that were going to try and illegally cross the border the moment title 42 would be lifted?
