YES! Exactly that is a No No, The next girl will NOT Want the same ring that the ex has already worn, She would not even wear that she would want a new one.
I work in the jewelry industry and a lot of places will let you trade in pieces for old gold credit towards a new piece. I would suggest having the stones removed, taking the mounting somewhere that issues gold credit, and possibly re-using the stones in a custom piece later on.
You will need to sell it online and advertise who it belonged to. A fan will buy it for probably at least 2000$. Someone will love to have it just because of the history.
The second gentlemen’s is correct. My advice for anyone thinking about purchasing an engagement ring is to do your research first on cost vs value specially when it comes to diamonds. Just bc you see a ring has a bunch of diamonds or a huge diamond that doesn’t meant it’s valuable ( their are different clarity’s, carats ex. Vs1 vvs1 vvs2 etc.) Do not buy in any jewelry store inside a mall or name brand jewelry store! Go to a private jewelers and talk to someone knowledgeable tell them your budget and what you’re looking for and most likely would be best to ask to have one built! They will give you an appraisal & authenticity papers (important for insurance and if something like this situation was to happen)
As a women who is indeed married already I wouldn't accept a used ring that was previously giving from my significant other "lover" at that time. I would actually feel that I got the leftovers. Just my personal opinion.❤ I would rather get a Pandora ring than your ex's engagement ring
I believe that energy is tied to material items. I would definitely sell it privately, or use it as credit towards a different ring. It shouldn’t be kept be given to his next partner.
My weeding rings were bought at a pawn shop. They were perfect and I loved them. 6 years later when the marriage unfortunately did not last, I took them to another pawn shop to sell and got double the amount they were originally purchased for. Buy pawn, sell pawn.
A future fiance is NOT going to want a "used" engagement ring. Maybe some don't care but there are others who may think it's bad luck. I agree with Alex most pawn shop owners lie! They may give you $200 but turn around & sell the set for 1800! I would fone a good appraiser & have the set appraised then you know how much you should get for them.
They will offer 25 to 30 % of value it is not markup most diamonds are broken down the rocks go into a bucket the metals get put into a different bucket and it gets melted down
Please don’t encourage Alex to give an engagement ring he picked out for one partner to another in the future. I would be pretty hurt and offended if my partner gave me recycled ring he first picked out for and gave to someone else. I would instead recommend selling it privately or maybe reusing the diamonds/stones within the current to create a whole new ring adding other unique things to it to make it entirely new and for that special person down the road. I would not give the recycled ring in its current state to someone else in the future though, yikes! I’m not surprised a man would suggest that to y’all lol 😂.

It was a very bad an idea in first place to get engaged and plan a wedding after a few weeks. And I remember how Alex disagreed with Melinda quick wedding and divorce and did exactly the same. Give someone used, unlucky a ring is not very smart start for a new relationship.
If you reuse the ring, hope she has never seen any of your videos. I don't know any woman who would want a ring, that was intended for someone else. The only time that is appropriate is when it is a family ring that has been passed down.
My daughter got married last year and she went through a private diamond broker. She got the setting she wanted, better quality diamonds and they iterally paid less than $700. The guy is here in the Phoenix areas so if anyone needs help budgeting a nicer ring that costs less than the mall stores, I recommend him. Also he may be able to use the Diamond to make a different ring or customized jewelry.
I would love his info if you are comfortable sharing as I am so sick of the overpriced jewelers and looking for an engagement ring. Do you know the carat of your friends ring?
@@sierray2544 it was my daughter and as a nurse she wanted a minimal so her center stone was 5/8 with a hexagonal Diamond halo. But this guy helped design her friend’s ring as well. I’ll ask her the info for you

I say that he should take it to a reputable private jeweler that has been around a very long time and have all the stones/diamonds removed out of it and the wedding band. They will give them to him in a vial. Then wait and watch gold prices. When high...sell the gold from both at its peak. Like anything else , the value does go up and down. You just have to have patience and careful where you sell it. There are "real" places out there that will give fair deals but remember they need to make a little money also. Then in the future when that special someone comes round (and she will), he can create a one of a kind ring with the stones and add to it if he feels the need. Like the pawn shop guy said...it is often cheaper to custom build when you already have the gems. You have to part things out sometimes to get the biggest bang for your buck! But yeah, don't give that ring to another girl. That is not cool and being on social media...she WILL find out!

I’ve seen a few people make comments, and it’s unfair, Alex asked fans not to be unkind to her.. their break up could literally of been about anything. I have inherited many rings from my mother and grandmother. I took them to a designer. They sold all the gold, which was worth something. I would not want a ring that was bought for the EX. Best to sell it. Cut the loss an have a learn experience that is more valuable. Surprised he got it back. It was a gift and the girl usually keeps it.
Don't re-use the ring. I'd be livid if my partner used a ring he'd purchased for someone else. I think you're just going to have to take a loss on this one. Lesson learnt not to rush into things x
When I got engaged the ring was from a past engagement. Bad juju. It was a rocky relationship and not together now. If you are going to keep it you run the rusk of the value going down. Alex take the main diamond or some of the diamonds and get a piece made for yourself or future partner
I used to work in a pawn shop. Diamonds are usually worth $1 per point, unless there’s a laser engraved serial number inside the diamond. Gold is roughly $300/ gram.
My friends husband bought her ring off Facebook market place. Maybe try listing it there and just see what you are able to get. The worst you could say is no to an offer or price that someone tries to get it for. I see lots of people posting rings on there with the paperwork showing how much it was and all of that. Start the price at what Alex thinks he really wants out of it (start higher then you can always go down). It is a beautiful ring.
You can also turn it on to a new piece of jewelry pawnshops and jewelry stores will pay you well under price if you sell it on a place like marketplace you might get a better price BUT be careful where and how you sell it there you don’t know who you run into
Don't let him reuse the ring thas just insulting to whoever his future wife is that the ring was specifically picked out for someone else I mean alex literslly purposely chose one that was SAVANAH'S VIBE so like it's just not the right move and whoever that future girl is would prob end things over it validly tbh
Alex I’m with you, a lot of these places will try and cheat you and give you just Pennie’s, then turn around and sell it for a lot. I had an engagement ring 💍 that went into the wedding ring. It was beautiful and worth 5 grand. We broke off the engagement and I sold it to a relative for 2 grand with all the papers. Your not always gonna get what you paid for, but atleast get a decent amount back. Or keep it and make a new custom ring out of it. Good luck 👍🙏
Every business overprices their merchandise, at least 100% markup, that’s how they survive after paying their own bills, payroll, insurance, taxes, etc. Plus they also still have room to put the items on “sale”, using “BOGO 50% off”, “clearance” and other marketing words, phrases and tools to make you want to buy their stuff! Even the colors and fonts they use in their ads and signage are part of that psychological game. We consumers are well-trained.
McGuires Jewlery in Tucson is an excellent jewelry store run by women, they buy jewelry, make jewelry or sell on consignment. This is the only jewelry store I trust. You can also make it into another ring or a necklace. Best wishes Alex
When my husband wanted to upgrade my ring set we looked at stores in the mall (multiple stores) before we found the one on clearance when they were having an additional 15% off clearance sale and ended up getting an $8,000+ ring for far less than half of the cost and it was over 3 carats and then included a double wedding band. I had previously had a 1ctw diamond ring from a small shop like you went to and spoke to that gentleman for and was charged $2000. So it really depends on if there are specials going on etc. as to whether you get a deal. I would never have spent $8500 on the ring I have now but spending approx $3000 was an amazing deal.
I’d be concerned that when you find the right woman she’d up and leave the relationship when she found out that the ring that was meant for another woman. Sell it privately, you won’t get all of your money back but better that then marry the wrong girl. Hang in there Alex your awesome!
If she was the "right woman" you could be honest and tell her about the ring and then decide TOGETHER if you want to re-use it, redesign it or buy new!
@@carolhilyer1319He should just redesign it and put actual thought into the ring it does not have to be expensive but knowing that it is not meant for me there was no thought of me at all seeing as he was trying to sell it and the only reason he is giving it to me is because he could not sell it. Especially would hurt if that lady looked back at him picking the ring for the ex and realizing this ring is special for the ex not her.
That's so strange to me, because my husband has always gotten my jewelry at Helzberg and we've been able to trade up the full value of the piece towards something new, as long as what we were buying was more expensive. I've never been told that they won't take something back in exchange, and we're married 20 years this month!
I agree with Kimberly Powell. Sell it to a fan. YOU should not give it to another woman, but if you sell it, someone else can certainly give it to their someone. It’s a beautiful set. I hope it finds that special couple.
I tried to sell mine on eBay and almost got scammed twice. Be careful if you go that route. I think if I were to have it certified 10 years ago, it would have cost me 100-200 dollars. And I would have had to mail it in, which made me nervous. The paper work that came with my ring doesn’t match which made it even harder to try and sell. What i did was have my wedding band to my daughter on her 25th birthday and I still have my engagement ring🤷🏼♀️. I wish I could still wear it because it’s so pretty 😂
Yea, I would be mortified if someone gave me a ring they had bought for someone else!!! Maybe if you did custom change it, at a pinch that would be better. But I reckon private sale, marketplace or whatever, you def get at least half the value of what you paid for it!
To be honest, I wouldn't have given the ring back since it actually was a gift. Even though a promise to marry but its was a gift. Bad JuJu to give it to someone else, unless she decides to have it recast to her liking.❤
Ummm no, if they had gotten married then the woman gets to keep it, however since they didn't get married then the proper thing to do is give the ring back. Very tacky to keep an engagement ring if the engagement is called off. Even the law would agree.
I’m a loose gem and Diamond collector the best bet to get ur moneys worth is to gooo buy the loose Diamond ruby or emerald or whatever you want in your ring pay for that and the cut clarity and how rare it is and then take the loose gem or Diamond and get it set urself lots cheaper and way more valuable cuz for resell value when u cut it down from the gem vs the setting ull no the value of the gem and the setting and get money for both
Unfortunately jewelry stores mark up jewelry 70%. Once a piece is made, the gold is "scrap gold," which is worth must less than new unused gold. I suggest hold on to it or sell it privately.
Sadly the day they went ring shopping I knew this is where it would end up, look at it as a $3,000 lesson, never jump in the deep end like that again Alex 😢😊
I would look at different pawn shops. I went to several in my area and they all said different things. I found places that don’t sell it by weight of gold had better prices. I almost got my full cost back.
Your situation is different, I personally have rings from my nanna and nothing wrong with that. However, alex wouldn’t be passing the ring down he would be giving another partner a ring that someone else picked out and that he bought for her. I wouldn’t want a partner to give me a ring that had been purchased for an ex
The best thing to do would be to keep it for future use. However, take it to a jeweler maybe like that last guy you talked with and work with him to re-design it so it will not be the exact same ring re-used. Just the materials will be the same. Maybe change out the stones, that I'm sure he has and sales.
I wouldn’t mind having a ring intended for someone else, as long as it wasn’t from my partner. Eg. If one of his brothers is getting engaged in a few years time, they could buy it off of him to give to their partner. This way they can get a ring cheaper than they would from a shop, and Alex would get more money than if he sold it at a pawn shop. And the girl receiving it knows her partner hasn’t previously given the ring to anyone else.
poor Alex! my advice is hold on to it and in the future wen you have a friend (or brother) wanting to propose, sell it to them for a third what you paid!
Strange.....Helzberg used to "buy back" things that you bought from them when you bought something else from them. For example, my husband bought me a 3 stone diamond necklace when we were dating. After we got married, he wanted to get me a larger version of the same necklace. So Helzberg gave us the full value of the original necklace towards the cost of a new one. I wonder if they've stopped doing that?
The best place to sell a ring is in a beach area! ⛱️ not kidding.❤ i received really good money for my wedding ring. I received $1,400 downtown seal beach CA.
Yes that’s how much pawn shops pay u unfortunately. Once u buy it from a jewelry store it goes way way down. I went in for my wedding rings and I got offered a lot less as well
Maybe facebook marketplace I see a lot of similar things like this were they say they can’t get ride of it for a good price so they put it on there he could totally list it $1,500 at least ( I agree it’s a gorgeous ring and someone would love it) and just show what you paid . Best of luck to you guys
he just keep it or take out the diamonds he can then get the ring cut and design and then put the diamonds back in it the way he wants and it's a lot cheaper.
I would see if there are any local coin shows in your area. Some of them deal in Jewelry too and they may be able to give you a better price! Jewelry stores mark up their jewelry an insane amount!
You are better off putting an add in the e local paper or on Craigs list saying what you what for the ring. On Craig's list you can add pictures. Price it a little higher than what you paid or the appraisal so that if they try to talk you down you still get what you wanted from the sale. I've bought and sold many things on Craig's list with no problems and most people wont even try to talk you down on the price to much. Please don't ever have Alex give the ring to a future love interest. It's really tacky and the new girl won't feel like it's really meant for her. Good luck in your adventures in trying to sell the ring.
Do not ever give a girl a ring that you already gave to someone else.

Find a consignment shop. My sister got most of her money back for her ring.
Seeing as mom picked it out and might have paid for it she can keep it
Alex I’m with you, a lot of these places will try and cheat you and give you just Pennie’s, then turn around and sell it for a lot.
No matter what you buy… every place sells items at least 300% increase from manufacturer
Definitely go pawn store shopping for the next ring- or any kind of nice jewelry
We need a q n A with bryson n halie
Have you tried bringing it to a different jewelry store and at least have it appraised and see if they will buy it?
@@annbednarczyk1006 agreed.. I watch too many court shows to know this lol
@@samantharice9407 right, and it does make sense too.
I would recommend getting jewelry from a local shop that sells real stuff that way you are supporting local businesses instead of buying from chains
Independent jewelers the way to go!
I’m a loose gem and Diamond collector the best bet to get ur moneys worth is to gooo buy the loose Diamond ruby or emerald or whatever you want in your ring pay for that and the cut clarity and how rare it is and then take the loose gem or Diamond and get it set urself lots cheaper and way more valuable cuz for resell value when u cut it down from the gem vs the setting ull no the value of the gem and the setting and get money for both
At the beginning of the video I was thinking, just keep it for the next person! People repurpose family heirlooms, why not an unused engagement ring?
Unfortunately jewelry stores mark up jewelry 70%. Once a piece is made, the gold is "scrap gold," which is worth must less than new unused gold. I suggest hold on to it or sell it privately.
I Forgot to tell you I love Crazy Pieces and your family!
My sister has a stunning wedding ring that belonged to a couple that had been married many years before she got it.
This shouldn’t even be made into a video. How low can you go?? It’s sad to see the path these ‘crazy’ channels are going.
It’s not about you!! Obviously Alex was okay with it so get over it.
I do agree show on a good site you know and trust and sell it privately. Xxxxxx
Sadly the day they went ring shopping I knew this is where it would end up, look at it as a $3,000 lesson, never jump in the deep end like that again Alex 😢😊
The one time people were right
For the ring- keep the stones for resetting and have the placement melted down.
I would look at different pawn shops. I went to several in my area and they all said different things. I found places that don’t sell it by weight of gold had better prices. I almost got my full cost back.
Keep it. I want to hand my wedding rings down to my grandson. Nothing wrong in given it to another. The person doesn’t have to know.
Your situation is different, I personally have rings from my nanna and nothing wrong with that. However, alex wouldn’t be passing the ring down he would be giving another partner a ring that someone else picked out and that he bought for her. I wouldn’t want a partner to give me a ring that had been purchased for an ex
Would the original store do a trade in on a new set down the road?
That’s a good idea
That's a GREAT idea, but I seriously doubt it 😢
Go to the store. They will normally trade in for a new piece that cost more.
The best thing to do would be to keep it for future use. However, take it to a jeweler maybe like that last guy you talked with and work with him to re-design it so it will not be the exact same ring re-used. Just the materials will be the same. Maybe change out the stones, that I'm sure he has and sales.
You should take the ring and use the material to design a new ring.
You can also keep the ring and maybe ask the jeweler you met at the 2nd store to make a necklace or some Diamond studs
But give it to someone that’s not in ur family or sell it in offer u can definitely get more than $300 !
Just when selling it on offer up provide them with the info and as well try to get a Diamond tester to show they are Diamond
poor Alex! my advice is hold on to it and in the future wen you have a friend (or brother) wanting to propose, sell it to them for a third what you paid!
That’s a hard one poor Alex he won’t want to reuse it cause of all the memories but just change it up like the man said so it’s different.
I adore this bond!!!! 👭
I love that she knows adventure in babysitting
The best place to sell a ring is in a beach area! ⛱️ not kidding.❤ i received really good money for my wedding ring. I received $1,400 downtown seal beach CA.
Not too women are going to want a ring bought for someone else.
I’ve been married almost 40 years if I had the money I’d buy them in a heartbeat their gorgeous
We had the same problem on two occasions. You can only get a fraction of what they charged. Thanks for investigating this.
I didn’t have luck selling my ring. I’ve decided to keep it and later make earrings and a pendant necklace from it.
Yes that’s how much pawn shops pay u unfortunately. Once u buy it from a jewelry store it goes way way down. I went in for my wedding rings and I got offered a lot less as well
Keep looking on line to sell it… there are other sites
Wow. I learned a lot about rings & jewelry & jewelry stores. That's insane!
Love watching all the channels, but have to admit I'm not quite a fan of this one. Let Alex heal in private. This is just fueling the fire honestly.
My ex husband and I went to a counter at JC Penny and bought my ring for pretty cheap. I don't care much for jewelry and wanted a ruby not diamond.
Maybe facebook marketplace I see a lot of similar things like this were they say they can’t get ride of it for a good price so they put it on there he could totally list it $1,500 at least ( I agree it’s a gorgeous ring and someone would love it) and just show what you paid . Best of luck to you guys
Jewelry stores i agree overprice their rings. Seems like its hard to resell cluster diamonds as well. Next time is best to buy a solitaire ring.
he just keep it or take out the diamonds he can then get the ring cut and design and then put the diamonds back in it the way he wants and it's a lot cheaper.
It’s best to sell in a private sell. You will always get more that way
I would see if there are any local coin shows in your area.
Good luck in your adventures in trying to sell the ring.
should Melt it down & redesign the whole ring
