That is such a difficult thing to come to terms with, but I was so impressed by how compassionate you are for your former self and how rationally you explained your decision. Used to be a barista, but have also worked as a beauty advisor in the beauty/ retail industry. So I totally understand the draining aspect of customer service. Whew! But you're doing great, Aline! This was a delight! I'm thrilled to see how your writing evolves. I agree with the advice about turning off your internal editor until you have a draft, but writing is a super-personal thing, and you have to find what works for you. The ultimate arbiter is if you're happy with the work that you're getting done. Best wishes, moving forward! (Oh, and did you buy MOONCAKES? I read that one recently. It's lovely!)
