Jail Break, known in Japan as Manhattan 24 Bunsho is an action shooter video game developed and published by Konami for Arcade in 1986.
A mass prison breakout has occurred and the prisoners have escaped. They have captured the prison warden and are creating havoc in the town. The player, as a police officer, has to restore order and rescue the prison warden, killing or capturing the prisoners. The game was converted on Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum. A MSX version was advertised but was never released, but you can see instructions of this version in the original manual of the game. It was later included as part of the Game Room service for Windows and Xbox 360.

That Arcade version was AWESOME. Batman & Boobs? Easy winner 🏆
"The Warden has been taken hostage. Free him, no matter what the cost." Words of what *should have* been a classic... but instead it was a poorly controlled game with the difficulty settings excessively maxed out on then-outdated 8-bit hardware. At least the visuals and voices aren't terrible for 1986 standards.
The coin-op is a top game but the 8 bit ports are really bad however the music in the C64 is really nice. This Konami licensed games were really poor ports in the time being a thing Konami did well in the MSX cartdridge ports.
My older brother had the Commodore 64 version of JAIL BREAK as a tape version in a compilation called
KONAMI'S ARCADE COLLECTION.
It was absolutely... umm...
I'm not gonna meow saying it 😹.
But the only best thing in the
Commodore 64 version of that game is the music 🎵🎶 by David Whittaker 🐱👍.
Jailbreak Amstrad and ZX's digitized speech WOAH, whoever pulled this of should get a raise.
This is the first time ever seeing this one. Not sure if either I just never came across it back then or it really didn't get a wide distribution, if at all, here in the US.
00:56 BATMAN HAS APPEARED FOR A FEW FRAMES IN THIS GAME. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO TO FIND HIM IS TO SHOOT A CERTAIN BARREL ON LEVEL ONE. GOOD LUCK.
Can you make Killer Instict every port comparison???
I was a Spectrum owner when this was released, and I seem to remember avoiding it because of some bad reviews. Seeing it alongside the other two home ports it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. The Spectrum graphics are definitely the best of the bunch, but the sound is also the worst of the three! I'm gonna fire up Launchbox and give them all a go!
I feel sorry for people who owned a Speccy in the 80s and then still after 40 years say : they don't look bad. Have you considered going to Specsavers ?
@@DJDanceClassic Don't feel sorry for me, it wasn't the most popular home computer for most of the eighties for nothing. I feel sorry for you not realising that!
it is called the stockholm syndrome
@@DJDanceClassicsorry for what's. The Best 8 bit system so far. Speacially for programming tour own games!
@@josemariapena4226 have you considered therapy ?
I liked the music in the C64 version.
0:56 we saved Batman
What a nice game.
1:27 What the HECK KONAMI!! (they added naked woman
On the title screen of the ZX Spectrum version, the cop character is the same Nicolas Cage, right? 😄😄🤣🤣
IMO the Speccy port is the best... though that's not saying much, it's still terrible.
LET THE HOSTAGES GO,
HELP I AM OVER HERE
Also The TAS of the arcade version is amazing
Contra before Contra
I like Spectrum port.
I've seen the game box art millions of times, but this is the first time I see the real game, the C64 music is awesome and the speccy graphics are much more detailed than both C64 and Amstrand.
I think you didn't miss anything. It's not a good game. Anyway, ZX Spectrum is the best port.
C64 is slow, not in terms of performance, its just that player and enemies are moving slowly, totally killing the game dynamics. ZX and CPC are somewhat better, but all 8-but versions are lacking diagonal movement/shooting.
2. Spectrum
3. no playable. Xd
c64 version was just bad imo, nice to see that other versions like the arcade game are not too bad at all
C64 Jail Break game was badly coded not a badly developed (made) game
@@jasonlee7816 The coder and the developer were the same person.
Love the arcade, also loved the speccy version. Tried the cpc at a friend's and was ok. The c64 looks dreadful
💪🏿

original arcade version is excellent - all conversions are terrible....
Terrible game, and even worse conversions.
