Between trading those two fourth round picks, picking two RB and trading JFM I was scratching my head during day 3.
Completely agree, the 4th round was very odd
Love the character of the guys we brought in.
The greatness of of the first two picks is tainted with the underwhelming feeling of day 3. You could have picked Tampa, Hart or Hicks and secure, at the very least, better backups than what we have, and at the most, get a replacement for the following year. Also, in the deepest class of olinemen and wide receivers we managed to take only one of each.
Question: if we kept 111 , would we have the two picks at the bottom of the fifth round? So many trades, it's hard to keep up.
For all the hype last year, our OL - starters a depth, and our WR room are night and day. Even the RB room should be improved if you assume even one of these RBs pan out, plus Breece now with a full year of not being on a pitch count.
The defense lost Huff but gained Reddick. We lost JFM but overall there shouldn’t be much of a dropoff there.
The difference between last year and this year is we’re actually now built like a championship team. Last year we hoped Rodgers alone would turn things around. This year we’re ready to compete even if Rodgers goes down. Gonna be a lot of fun to watch.
Also agreed on Travis. I love his upside. Stash him and let him learn.

The Davis selection definitely confused me as well.

I’d give Jaylen Key more of a C+ or B- due to the fact that safety is a need, glad we addressed it in the draft
I like the high upside of the later round guys. Davis was really the only one that had me scratching my head lol
@@JetsTalk247 The only reason the davis pick was a head scratcher is because we alredy selected a RB. RB was definitely a need for us tho. We dont have that big power back that can also block. We have a play maker and a fast home run threat

All jets fans " great draft we won the off season" season comes along players get hurt we miss the playoffs. Staying healthy and winning games is what matters. Stop getting hyped on the draft

Giants had a one pick draft, really. They desperately needed another OL, but didn't get them.
I honestly didn't pay much attention to them outside of the #6 pick lol

I would say those were good grades I'm definitely like the picks, I wish we would have took another wide receiver but I'm happy with it overall, & Jordan Travis I've been watching his film what a playmaker!!! He has ton of potential he's probably in the best situation especially learning from Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor and I see a lot of similarities to Tyrod Taylor
I wish we could have swapped a late round guy out for Rice

Wonder the last time (or how often) any team has taken 2 RBs in a draft? Just seems dumb when there are other needs elsewhere. If the arguement is special teams or best player available I still don't see it. Otherwise, nice job JD.

Ryan you are killing me bro...lol...I'm no scout by any means, of course kind of have to go by what the scouts say...a lot said Jordan Travis should have been an UDFA...Maybe they are wrong, hear a lot about his leadership and maturity...but idk. Taking two RB's is a head scratcher to me, unless the Jets are out on Izzy who I thought really showed some promise in the pre season last year. Unless they want to convert Allen or Davis to FB or something? Striggers is a great story, but again seemed like a little bit of a reach? Maybe the Jets have him at Safety? Jaylen Key is what it is lol. The Jets insisting on keeping the "Mr. Irrelevant" pick seems like just wanting some extra attention... I love this team, but I worry we don't have enough weapons. Would love to see them cut Lazard eat that cap hit and sign a Tyler Boyd.
The ability to IR Jordan Travis is a huge reason for the grade. If he can become a long term backup, this is a homerun move
Davis Pick is an F. Nothing to do with him. But we needed a safety DT and guard help

I think you are deflecting Zach's maturity and game- play over to Mechi B.; which is not right. Zach's immature downfall came at the podium when he was asked about the defense. His answer still lingered over that team.
Zach and Becton were both immature. Becton is the better football player but his constant injuries prevented us from moving off of him earlier on.

Sorry but i have a harsher grade for them. Because they could have done better. But didn't towards the later rounds. Players that had from a 2nd round, to 3rd round grade. That slipped in the draft. That they could have drafted. But didn't and even drafted 2 RBs, which is a dum move.(C grade overall)

Love ya Ryan but you need to stop pushing that Zach is not the biggest bust in Jets franchise history. We lost 3 years of quality football due to how bad he played on a NFL level. It's not all his fault, he should have sat for a year or two before ever seeing the field. But Becton has played poorly for other QBs that produced more than what Zach did. Zach couldn't read an offense or a disguise if his life depended on it. He was the #2 overall all pick..... theres only one other person that went in front of him in an entire draft lol. QB is the most important piece on a NFL team. We literally picked up guys off the street and they put up 300+ yards in a game. Without question Zach Wilson is the biggest bust in Jets history.

Zach by himself is one of the biggest busts of all time (regardless of team) but I'd argue Becton and Hackenberg hurt our teams more than him.
