The guy who just got out of jail after 19 years, sounds like less of a criminal than the Conservatives.
His comments hit me the hardest. He's probably gone through some nasty stuff in the last 19 years in prison, has probably seen the nastiest elements of people, yet clearly has far more compassion and understanding than the cruel moronic monsters in charge.

It takes time to check everything out...years. Rwanda is happy to take in some people, for money. It's not the Rwanda of decades ago.
It's cheaper for Brits. Brits owe the fake refugees, and the real ones...nothing. At the very least, the taxpayers could have a bit of a break while it's sorted out.

Saying you'd like to do something, or doing it at the cost of taxpayers, isn't ethical. It's buying future votes.
Some people whose families have paid taxes for generations have members now needing to go without heating here and there, skipping meals, deciding between a meal or their medication, etc.
It would be cheaper for the taxpayers to have wannabe refugees (including some economic migrants, and hidden very bad actors) wait in Rwanda than in the U.K... that's easier on the current U.K. residents financially, in terms of available housing, to protect them from possible bad actors, etc. It's not the same Rwanda of decades ago.

If you want to know where the policy came from it was imported from Australia. We are very familiar with it. Australian conservative governments ran the same scheme for about 10 years and won elections on it. Instead of Rwanda, the 'boat people' were shipped off to an island off Papua New Guinea. It costs a fortune to run, lots of suicides and shattered lives. Successive Australian Prime Ministers used the exact same hysterical catch phrase "Stop The Boats" to tie the whole con together. It was backed by the Murdoch Press and it works on bigotry and fear. The UK government has deliberately borrowed it out of desperation. It's all about destroying the most vulnerable at great public expense for the simple goal of staying in power.
Nauru should be emancipated, and towed to the North Sea as a final resting place for Scotty, Rupert, Cruella and the gammons they rode in on.
(1) Mandatory Detention was introduced by the ALP in the early 1990s.
(2) Howard put in place the Pacific Solution. It slowed boat arrivals to essentially zero despite there being a record increase in global refugee numbers.
(3) Then Rudd got in and abolished the Pacific Solution. What immediately followed was every people smuggler in SE Asia telling all and sundry that all they had to do to get into Australia was pay a few grand to the Indonesian Mafia, and sail to Christmas Island.
(4) From 2007-2013, basically the entirety of the humanitarian visa program in Australia was flooded by boat arrivals. We essentially handballed our refugee intake to the worst people smuggling networks in the world.
(5) So many boats flooded into Christmas Island that the government had to drop basically all scrutiny of asylum claims and just started printing humanitarian visas on often very spurious grounds.
(6) During that period, we know for a fact that at least 1200 people drowned. The figure is probably much higher.
(7) It got so bad that the ALP tried to implement something that wasn't the Pacific Solution (but looked an awful lot like it) in Malaysia. They were blocked by the High Court because they didn't have the ability to pass legislation to back the decision.
(8) Eventually Rudd caved and started sending them all to Nauru and PNG. Doing so avoided an ALP wipeout in 2013.
I think Australians forget they are also immigrants and are not native to the land
Australia spent $3 million per person with its offshore prison scheme. Almost every cent ended up in LNP (Right wing government) cronies pockets.

The Rwandan policy is one of collective punishment and therefore a human rights breach.
650 000 LEGAL migration - 50 000 illegal..... Do the Maths. That's per year !!! -- City the size of Sheffield would need to be built just to house and provide amenities.!!! -- not to mention food, energy, transport, employment, NHS and other strains on resources.

“You’re voting for a bunch of clowns so why would you vote” is a crucial thought for us to engage with. If so many of us feel this way, surely we can do something different with this system we’re stuck in?
I visited Rwanda earlier this year on holiday. It was a far nicer place than most of the UK. Anyone against the policy is a racist.

I think we should concentrate on our own people if im honest, we are in no fit state to let anyone come into the country. A statement was made in the video that we have houses that are empty ? If thats the case why are there more homeless than ever, especially ones who are verterans.

The problem is there are huge numbers of economic migrants coming here illegally who are posing as asylum seekers. That is taking resources away from genuine asylum seekers and the system is now completely overwhelmed.
