This was my rabbit hole song and it will forever hold a special place in my heart! I blasted it in my car every time I had to drive to the hospital for another cancer treatment appt. I really agree with your interpretation a lot because Not Today is the second single from Wings: You never walk alone which lead single is spring day. BTS gave us two messages with this album release, one of comfort in the form of the melancholic Spring day, and one of rebellion in the form of the anti-establishment anthem that is Not today.
ff: i don't know if you were aware of the fact but in 2019 there were a lot of civil unrest in Chile because of several protest marches happening at the city's centre, the then president made several attacks to those people and didn't care many were seriously injured or even k!lled due to his oppression. The thing is that this song was used in tiktoks covering the event, because Not today is an anthem for the underdogs, as it says in it lyrics and the ver first lines: "All the underdogs in the world, a day may come when we lose, but it is not today. Today, we fight!"

The behind the scenes are really interesting too. This is a really good fight song! With the inspiration of Martin Luther King's quote and the music itself, it's a favorite of mine.

After i heared " Not today" i understood i m in BTS WORLD. There was no way back. My journey start and still i love 💕 that song. Its super catchy. ❤❤❤
I would like to share with you my experience with this song: I was in a very dark place and thinking on giving up and end my misery when BTS and this song found me...and they saved me! They pulled me out from my depression and teach me how to be a better version of myself. I have deep appreciation for these amazing human beings, all 7 of them are a role model and a teacher on how hard work, determination and self-love can change the world. I have never admired anyone as much as I admire and love BTS.
Your reactions are very good, please keep up - I don't have anyone near me to share my BTS devotion, so I watch reaction videos, and I feel a special bond with your reactions. I don't mind if you take your time to discover a song, I usually watch color coded lyric videos first, then the MV, then explanations (DKDK's, xCeleste and Bookish theories channels are great especially with the Korean references) then live (always the best!) and the dance practices 😁💜

It's interesting because Not Today was released the same week as Spring Day (believe it or not lol) and both tackle the government in a very different way. You've seen the meaning of Spring Day and BTS were in danger of getting blacklisted for speaking up about the Sewol Ferry tragedy. So BTS released both a song to comfort those who lost a loved one in that tragedy and also showed their anger with Not Today. That's my interpretation.

Well danger is not from the wings era, but rather from the Dark and Wild album, a few years prior. However, it is still a really cool title track! The rocker in me loves to see and listen to that version of the boys 🥰
