Ghosts of Christmas isn't really about Christmas, it's more based on the Charles Dickens tale, "A Christmas Carol". I don't know anyone who celebrates Christmas, believing three ghosts are going to visit them on Christmas Eve night. You are right about it being seasonal though, I too can't produce it in the middle of July. Ghosts... is an excellent game, unfortunately I'm absolutely terrible at predicting how many tricks I'm going to won, which is a bit of a bummer when playing such a game. 9 Lives, I still haven't purchased, but soon...
Funny thing is, Ghosts of Christmas is a "themed" version of Time Palatrix, which was first released in Japan. Maybe Jesse would like that better, for year-round play? The components aren't nearly so nice, though... Sail, currently on Allplay's Kickstarter, looks like a crazy trick-taking puzzle, I'm excited for that one.
Im backing Sail because it's so unique. I grew up playing a LOT of Oh, Hell, so trick taking is in my blood lol. I have ghost of Christmas, the theme doesn't bother me any time of year
I'm struggling to see the issue with Ghosts of Christmas being a "Christmas" game. Unfortunately, it has been sitting on my shelf since the game arrived from the original Kickstarter. I've never been a trick taking fan and picked it up because of reviews and the nice all-in price discount during the campaign. If a theme was a turnoff it would be 9 Lives because I am not a fan of cats, however, I made that mistake with both Calico and Isle of Cats, which are both now in my collection. Great to have Shira back in the videos!
Well, if you don't celebrate Christmas or you don't want to pull a holiday game off the shelf during the summer . . . and you like me, care way too much about theme :)
For Trick-taking games, I've been enjoying Yokai Septet and Cat in the Box. My group didn't like Ghosts of Christmas that much.

shira is wise ! Both is the right answear.
My favorite trick taking game is Skull King.
Just play Marvel United, there is so much content out there and much more to come, what else do we need at this point, right ? 😅😅 Quack 😅
Have you played Brian boru yet?
Wait until Sail from them comes out later this year....even better.
But how does it play with 2. That's the only question that matters, apart from when is Shira back again for more videos 🐦😁
Back for a quick visit!
