Hungary is not in Eastern Europe, it's in Central Europe. It's typical for Westerners to confuse the two concepts.

As a Hungarian, I think of Eastern Europe as the "East Slavic" countries, the Russian-type people. Hungary is more similar to Germany and Turkey culturally. For places like Romania and Albania, I'd consider that the Balkans.
