We use winged flies to do the same hear. Both are mimicking a swimming larval stage of aquatic insects, most people never see them because there really fast in the water and very small. However I tend to have better luck on meat style flies in summer but these will produce very well.
Nice one Mak! Love Soft-Hackle patterns - they are so effective. Fish them a lot for panfish - because 100-plus fish mornings are common I tie mine with durability in mind. Been tying mine on jig hooks with a bead for weight, color/flash and to protect the hackle stem; find that I have less issue with weeds when using a jig hook. A coat of resin on the body is pretty well mandatory :) Cheers!
Nice pattern....just a wee suggestion with the rib ...wouldn't it be easier to leave a long tag when you lay down the thread at the start and then use the tag as the rib.
@@Makflies thanks for the reply....yeah it was just a thought....I love Spider patterns and have actually found over the last couple of years on our rivers in Ireland that they out perform all other styles and patterns wet or dry....i've found hatches happening a lot less on our rivers for some reason....so spiders and nymphs are the way to go ....
Elegant looking fly, Mak........Thank you!!! 👍🎣
Thank you too! Kev, I am glad you like it :))
Very nice Arshad. A simple but effective variation I'm sure. Many thanks.

A North Country Spider..... that makes me want to tie it. And then it’s in blue/purple silk. Lovely. Thank you for another one Mak.
