Dexter's approach to ballads is truly one of a kind and out of this world.

@@Gaslight-pb4huI thank God I don't live in Nazi Florida 😂 DeSantis banned black history, books, entertainment and jazz, and I wouldn't be able listen to Dexter Gordon 😂😂😂😂

Many people feel that Coltrane was the greatest tenor sax player. My ❤ belongs to Mr. Dexter!

@DmPmRr1959, sorry to correct you but Parker was considered the greatest ALTO sax player not tenor, and although Dexter was a awesome tenor player, My ❤ belongs to the King of the tenor sax players Mr.John Coltrane 😮

@@shermanyoung8185 That's right. I meant Coltrane but had Parker on the brain. Coltrane was great, but I still have to go with Gordon. His Go LP never fails the thrill!

@@DmPmRr1959 - One of my favorite Tenor sax players is 'The Prez', Lester Young. Sonny Rollins is also a close second. I like Dexter as well, Coltrane was probably the most talented tenor sax player ever, but to me he tended to play too many notes, too fast for me to get in the groove he was playing. His early recordings were better to me than his later recordings. Personal taste, I don't think anyone can say this player is the best of all times, it is always a matter of each person's taste in music and how it is interpreted by the listener.

@@WJV9 That's why I stated my heart belongs to Dexter and not that he was the greatest. It's all a matter of taste, true. When Coltrane played with Davis in Paris, he said he had a hard time knowing when to stop playing, that enough was enough. Davis replied, "Why not try taking it out of your mouth". Yeah, Coltrane could meander.😁

I can't listen to Coltrane and God knows I've tried. His nasal tone and obsessive introspection don't do it for me. I find his music morose and joyless.
