Dexter Gordon Sandy's Jazz Revival Bar 1977
recording quality is so good
.i love Donald Bird
わたしの記憶ではベニー・グッドマン以降最もモダンなクラリネット。確かサックスも吹くねぇ。若い世代には聴きやすい。
Dexter Gordon's style is unique.
George Cables shines here as all Dexter's piano accompaniment is great .. 1977 finds him back in the States at the forefront of the Mini Jazz Renaissance ( approx 1976 to 1985)😢
Cables is a truly great piano player-his collaboration with Art Pepper his magnificent and he used to call Cables, rightly, 'Mr. Beautiful'...Maybe he was Pepper's favourite pianist
*is magnificent
Dexter Gordon arguably the greatest ballad player of all time. The cadenza at the end of Old Folks brings tears to my eyes.
He is the greatest along with Art Pepper and Chet Baker, in my opinion
WOW
According to a quantum field theory, there's a small chance the entire universe could suddenly disappear in the next five seconds. I'd die happy listening to this. Xx
Me too!
unbelievable! just so beautiful
YES!
Doesn’t get any better than this !!!
That was my idea for recording Charles with Billy. They had not played together in 30 years. I had the two of them do Duet for me which I did not put on record. You can hear it on my RUclips channel Milan Simich. There are also videos, I used to book Charles. First heard him with Chico Hamilton, became a Fan.
I'm familiar with the Lee Morgan tribute record which you produced (it's great!) and will check out some more of your work. Thanks for helping great artists be heard!
Many people feel that Coltrane was the greatest tenor sax player. My ❤ belongs to Mr. Dexter!
@DmPmRr1959, sorry to correct you but Parker was considered the greatest ALTO sax player not tenor, and although Dexter was a awesome tenor player, My ❤ belongs to the King of the tenor sax players Mr.John Coltrane 😮
@@shermanyoung8185 That's right. I meant Coltrane but had Parker on the brain. Coltrane was great, but I still have to go with Gordon. His Go LP never fails the thrill!
@@DmPmRr1959 - One of my favorite Tenor sax players is 'The Prez', Lester Young. Sonny Rollins is also a close second. I like Dexter as well, Coltrane was probably the most talented tenor sax player ever, but to me he tended to play too many notes, too fast for me to get in the groove he was playing. His early recordings were better to me than his later recordings. Personal taste, I don't think anyone can say this player is the best of all times, it is always a matter of each person's taste in music and how it is interpreted by the listener.
@@WJV9 That's why I stated my heart belongs to Dexter and not that he was the greatest. It's all a matter of taste, true. When Coltrane played with Davis in Paris, he said he had a hard time knowing when to stop playing, that enough was enough. Davis replied, "Why not try taking it out of your mouth". Yeah, Coltrane could meander.😁
I can't listen to Coltrane and God knows I've tried. His nasal tone and obsessive introspection don't do it for me. I find his music morose and joyless.
Thank You
Too bad this peploski guy keeps interrupting Ed Bickert
this is amazing
Thank you Ken for playing such great music I hope you play for a very long long time. Maybe you and Anna Cohen should do a clarinet album together that would be fantastic along with Evan Christopher and you are one of the best musicians ever.
What an amazing musician can Peplowski is wow I love the fact that he plays clarinet and tenor saxophone very well there should be more clarinetist playing saxophone that could really swing this is one of the best legendary performer ever.
Grande muy grande Dexter Gordon.
YES!
Tnx for posting this
Does anybody know the middle part of I Would Do Anything for You? Thanks.
Thanks for posting. Bought this when it came out and it's still lost in my garage somewhere...
Dexter's approach to ballads is truly one of a kind and out of this world.

What a pleasure. What a relief from Ron DeSantis!
@@Gaslight-pb4huI thank God I don't live in Nazi Florida 😂 DeSantis banned black history, books, entertainment and jazz, and I wouldn't be able listen to Dexter Gordon 😂😂😂😂
el timbre de dexter es otra cosaaa

Thank you, Ken! So much fun, life, and feel in your tunes. Those you play with certainly inspire each other, because it shows! The best clarinetist I have ever heard.
Thank you for the upload.
I am so grateful
