Awesome video! I started Minecraft in July 2009, and was one of the early players. I remember it being just vast open templates of green grass and building random things, or trolling and messing up what other built. It was a blast for its time. I would love to answer any questions about 2009. Unfortunately my account has been stolen and Mojang refuses to give me it back. I have the email from Mojang in 2009 still in my email which matches my legal name, along with the laptop I used at the time. But to them that’s not enough proof I made the account. :( Games super different now from what I have seen. I haven’t logged in since 2010, and refuse to buy the game again and create a new account since I should have access to mine.

You guys ever play minecraft "multiplayer" on the old website, it was like a demo before you bought the game. No one had a unique username, our bodies were very... fluid i guess, our limbs would flail when we walked and everything looked like alpha minecraft.
We need more of such servers, were people are just happy to play and make new friends along the way. Ngl, I shed some tears because of nostalgia, I was literally a kid when I saw such builds and communities with such enthusiasm not for the game but the people around it. This is the one thing I miss...
You should 100% Make a video on how programmer art needs fixing, new textures bleeding into old ones, new textures not fitting with the theme of the old ones at all. Stuff like that
I enjoyed this video, its been a long time since I've seen early dev content. Glad to know there are other players out there chilling in game a decade later.
I don't know... The first one that I really did a bunch of stuff on MIGHT still exist somewhere on a hard drive/thumbdrive. My dad and I would take turns building stuff in it and then pass it on to each other. It'd be really neat if we still had it. The world name was Gootopia. I remember our neighbors also had a server that we played on. I think like 1.6-1.8 There was also a server that I played on from 6th grade until 10th, but I don't think it'll come back online, sadly. It was called Saturn Survival. Oh man, good memories. I played on it with my dad a lot, and we built floating island bases and shit. I think I have a video on my channel of a rainbow beacon I made in our little ravine base.
The first world I ever made was when I got the free tablet app of pocket edition, in version 0.10.4 or 5. I basically was breaking a bunch of blocks in the ground to make a "cave" and spawned a bunch of mobs, but then I hit the mobs and they started chasing me and shooting at me (back when there was the creative glitch where mobs would target you of you hit them) and I got scared and left the world. I ran out of space on my tablet many times over the years, and would go into files and find something called "saves" that took up a bunch of storage and delete it to free ip the space. Those were my minecraft saves... I lost many many many hours and days of history and progress every time I did that. On new year's 2014-2015, I got minecraft java and played it for 13 hours straight. It was first in a creative mode realm my uncle made, then he changed it to a survival mode one that we (my siblings, my cousin, and I) played on for years before my uncle deleted it. That realm is how I learned survival minecraft and how I'm quite good at hardcore mode nowadays. My first singleplayer world was called "AVATARE" and was where I built a cool house in a glow stone shell, before my computer got a "virus" (software was glitching out) and we factory reset it. So I have none of my first year or so of worlds from pocket edition and java, and not the realm that began my survival journey. If only I could go back in time just to see them again...
I started playing Minecraft in 2013, but all of my old worlds are long gone. I only have about a dozen worlds remaining from before 2022, and none of them are interesting. I used to delete my worlds to free up space on my tablet, and then my laptop had a hard drive failure circa 2017, and then I gradually lost interest in Minecraft.
I started playing in 2009 with my buddies in college who roped me into it. We had a small server of our own that one guy literally ran out of his dorm room because he had an actual server setup in there. God those were different times.
