For Radxa, and the others, beating the Raspberry Pi will have to invest heavily in software support, leaving it in the hands of the community will take a long time to beat the RPi. I have one Radxa (RS102-D2E8H) compared to how easily Raspberry OS works with pretty much everything OK, Radxa takes a beating.

Agreee, software and community is somewhere where these boards do lack, but it will only improve as more people buy them :)

It's pretty easy to beat any Raspberry Pi chip. All you need to do is have something that is ACTUALLY PURCHASABLE.

You forgot a few important things called "community", "support" and "quality of first party software"
I want to see the Radxa, Orange Pi, Banana Pi or any of those Raspberry clones in those departments. I'll be here waiting patiently
It's worth nothing buying them just for the sake of being "cheaper than RPi chips" when they are WAY behind RPIs in the things I mentioned

Cool! I always wanted a board that fits in a cavity of a 5.25 floppydrive for a retro project and powerfull enough to run dosbox pentium spec games.

    • @SeanLumly
      @SeanLumly 4 месяца назад

You can fit far more than a pi-zero sized board in the space of a 5.25" floppy drive bay. FAR more...

This will work well for my use case. I will use it to write very personal secretive files so the device needs to be offline and I will use a usb drive as a bridge when the files are done. so the only programs needed are a text processor and this seems to be a over kill when it comes to it.

    Hey Luke,
I got one question. On the Raxda-Website with model list they say, that the H Model has soldered GPIO-header and onboard antenna. T variant doesn’t have both, so external antenna is needed in order to get wireless capability. The version you own seems to be the T variant, so how do you connect to the internet for RUclips etc.?
    Greetings Niklas

      Hi Niklas,
That’s interesting, I wasn’t aware of that. I didn’t do anything special with my model, it connected to my WiFi without any issues.

If it runs Twister OS well, that comes with Retropie should be super easy to compare to Pi's with emulation. Android 9.0 you can install Google apps with... GAPPS, or some other sideloading. There's videos on that. The Android 9.0 I've been using for years now. I use both OS and just switch between them. Twister is so good you don't need Windows. I've been playing Doom mods in WINE. Got Half-Life to play on the official 7" touchscreen. Where it will take a hit is in not having USB 3.0. Writing this on a Pi4 running Twister OS... installed in a Sony Boombox.

    • @Lukes-Tech
      @Lukes-Tech  2 года назад +1

Yeah it should run RetroPie fairly well, I haven't tested it though. I need to figure out how to install GAAPS too... TwisterOS is pretty nice, it seems like you've got a nice little set up with it on your pi!

I saw that too, I just buy the 512mb ones off Amazon and they actually are pretty good - I also don’t like flashed emmc either - hate it. I rather have full control over SD, speed isn’t but a few seconds longer…big whoop… :/ and the extra ram is not a good deal for 100+ (they on pre-order) for just a little bit of extra ram? Still won’t make much improvement in performance as it is just a SBC- however, Mine “cheap” ones work just fine. It’s a cross between a pi zero 1 and pi 3A+ / that’s where it sits. Haven’t tried pi zero 2 yet. They are hard to get.

It does seem like a rush but it aint! (The truth is that I had class tests) The Immersive Linux Legacy XFCE 1.1 is out! This sure gives a new look to the XFCE Desktop Environment with new apps that the community recognizes! It is not just customized XFCE but different software too! I am planning, no like honestly, Gnome and KDE Desktop Environments are really heavy for the pis, how about we stick to XFCE and LXDE, i need your opinions here!(do plz let me know)
    Here is the changelog:
VERY IMPORTANT! THIS VERSION OF IMMERSIVE LINUX HAS BEEN CLOCKED TO 2GHZ ON DEFAULT FOR SPEED AND PERFORMANCE! (nothing to do with yt playback improvisation, just done to make the overall performance alot better! make sure to have cooling!)
(IF YOU DONT, UNCOMMENT THE OVERCLOCK LINES)
Replaced Pimage Editor as Standalone GIMP
Leafpad has been reworked on and has been provided with the status bar instead of menu bar
Added 2 more desktops featuring the new wallpapers!
    Replaced Gnome Terminal By Terminator
Fixed the conky not showing temperature
    Added a calendar app
Added caffeine and configured to startup
Added a torrent client - QBitTorrent
Rework on PiName to be based up of bulk rename
Neofetch WorkAbout - Distro and Base has been added as info in neofetch instead of Raspbian/GNU Linux and The Immersive Logo!
XFCE UI Has been reworked on and is better and more unique now! (Even the login screen)
Fixed Raspberry Pi Configuration wont make changes
Replaced XFCE Disk Burner to Balena Etcher
Configured YT Playback ( it will take a little bit of time to stable out the dropping frames!) (IMPROVED ALOT!) (moving the mouse pointer might drop a few frames! not much though!)
Changed terminal font Roboto mono to monospace
    Configured the login screen
    Optimized Raspberry Pi Config App
    Added Kodi
    Added Commander Pi
The Ristretto Image Viewer has been replaced by GThumb Image Viewer (a different image viewer, not the xfce default one)
    Added Mugshot Profile Editor
    Added XScreenSaver
    Replaced the theme with Arc
Plank has been removed (due to ui changes and it kinda didn't fit the UI!)
Ulauncher hasn't been removed, see the search icon down at the bottom panel? Thats the ulauncher or Ctrl + Space! (You gotta check in the OS to figure out what i am saying!)
Added stacer - all credit towards you! who compiled it for pi 4! (LUKE!)
You will need to resize the partition manually!
    Download Link:drive.google.com/drive/folders/1xSe01kJ329DRzIk5NdSZ3Zyp3y-plysD?usp=sharing
(Navigate through xfce->v1.1(Latest)->Download the img xz file, there are changelog and future expectations text files aswell
Plz Ans This Question:Gnome and KDE Desktop Environments are really heavy for the pis, how about we stick to XFCE and LXDE, i need your opinions here!
Hope you have a great day
