This is probably my favorite eGPU because of the SATA slot, even if it's kinda slow since you can safely store data like videos & AAA games on the eGPU & leave the less intense software over the Thunderbolt laptop.
@@JosephKim I guess dealing with proprietary cables is personal preference, but it wouldn't bother me too much but that seems to be a Founder's edition GPU problem, not when you'd wanna use other board manufacturer's GPU, especially Zotac, since I'd favor those for eGPU builds since they're known for small & cost-effective GPUs to try and give it some extra ventilation.
@@JosephKim imo, that's part of the eGPU hitches you signed up for, so you've prolly come prepared to deal with it as either an eGPU enthusiast who uses either laptops or "console form factor" PCs(GPD, AYA, OneXPlayer) or architects who don't wanna carry heavy laptops to work.
I'm curious where the approximately 10% drop in performance figure you cited came from. Specific details of any performance drop (compared to desktop equivalent) is perhaps the most important thing to understand - especially considering the heavy price premium. Your video made me aware of the product but was very light on evaluation other than "it works". If possible, I'd suggest less time on unboxing and more on detailed performance evaluation. Thanks!
That's a great feedback, thank you so much. I plan on running a bit more benchmarks and compare them with my desktop. Whilst I've seen performance varying about 'one tier', meaning 3070 performing like 3060. But it is quit hard to say definately as I don't have access to the same type of hardwares between desktop and laptop.
@John Lee, that is not really related to the case. Significant benchmark drops are inevitable with egpus and there hundreds of videos on RUclips about that. Basically, you got the warning you needed to do more research. Egpu case reviews don't need to be unnecessarily cluttered with detailed information about this because most viewers will already be aware of it

Even if it is TB4, u don't think you are gonna see that much lift in performance. The biggest bottleneck is the amount for information back and forth, along with lanes allocated on your motherboard.
@@JosephKim I was planning to buy a Egpu and combine it with and Microsoft Surface 8 pro. I am just waiting the new 12 gen P processors from intel to come out. I am also doing Architectural 3D Modeling and Rendering. What do you think is that a good idea ? Would love to hear your opinion.

@@RockOrso2 no I meant needing to connect both USB-C thunderbolt (for graphics) and USB-A for peripherals such as SATA

Nice!
my laptop don't have Thunderbolt port. Can I use USB-C port or converter? Thanks
No, it would not work that way unfortunately.
How can I know if this eGpu is compatible with my Acer Swift Edge? I'm not a pro for eGpu
Nobody is. ;) I'm not sure about Swift Edge. Does it have Thunderbolt 3?

Any help 🙏 thanks
Depending on the unit, alienware does their own eGPUs. Ask dell.

Probably Dell will tell me to buy their new desktop 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Can you compare it to the razer core
I kinda did that in another video.

does it works with tbt 2?
I don't think so.

Depends on the video quality. Often you can video edit without descrete GPU.

60w is not enough to power a laptop.
For some laptops it is. My XPS's native charger is 45w.
