My Key wouldn't turn and I was afraid it was the lock cylinder, I tried this first because my car had been periodically stalling or needing to hit the gas as soon as I turned it on. This took me 5 minutes and worked perfectly. Really appreciate the vid! THANK YOU!
Thanks so much, Manny. Worked like a charm so far. Helpful video. For those wary of messing with the battery, I used latex rubber gloves to guard against any potential shocks. Removed that part of the process and save some time. It was REALLY difficult to get those screws out from the bottom. In any case, appreciate the video.
Thanks. I think I can do that. Long story short, I think I fried my starter Saturday. I just replaced it with a used one. The car starts now, but not always on the first try. Often times it won't start til the second try. Sometimes it won't start til like the 7th try. Other times it starts fine first try. Like tonight I started it 6 times in a row, no issues. Tried again 2 hours later and blank, then start second try. My car has been clicking away you turn off the car coming from the dash, so it's probably been going for a while. I'm ordering the part tonight. Thanks again.
🙏🏼🙏🏼 Ayeeeee this fixed the issue I was having! At the beginning of the day it would start up just fine but as the day went on (I deliver door dash and I start my car a LOT) it would take a few seconds to start. I had recently replaced the battery, alternator and starter so I was running out of things to replace lol. I installed this little $60 ignition switch in about 10 minutes and now my 2002 Civic LX starts like a brand new car 💪🏼 Thank you SO much for the video. I had been watching a different video about replacing the starter and your video popped up after that one was finished. I already had the new starter so I tried that first. It was still having slow starts after the new starter so I went and bought the ignition switch and that was it. Hope this helps save someone some money and gives them peace of mind. UPDATE: I took my old starter and had it bench tested (inside the store) at OReillys just out of curiosity. (It had “failed” about 2 months ago with their scan tool so that’s why I replaced it to begin with) Turns out the starter is GOOD, so that verifies that the ignition switch solved my issue and not the new starter. Thanks again for this video! 🫡
Really helpful video bro! on my car the key gets stuck and won’t turn. Do you think this can be the same problem or do I need to change the entire piece with the cylinder where the actual key goes?
