    Excellent video, much appreciated. Just a small correction though, the sphenoid and ethmoid bones are actually visible externally, The greater wing of the sphenoid bone is seen anterior to the temporal bone. For those watching, he actually places his right thumb (holding the forceps) on it 53 seconds in, just before he rotates the skull.
    The ethmoid bone is technically also visible externally, forming some of the medial wall of the orbit.

    Thank you . May I ask what long term effects of an 11 cm occipital fracture is ? My partner has TBI due to AN assault. He has headaches but has loss his sense of smell and also other loss of functions ? Could this be another reason such as a hypothalmus injury ? Appreciate if you could help

    • @LjubisaTerzicMD
      @LjubisaTerzicMD  7 лет назад

      Hi Kathy! It looks on the basis of information you provided that the injuries and their extent is far greater than just the occipital bone fracture. Loss of smell more directly points to an injury across the anterior cranial fossa and damage done to the fibers of olfactory nerve (cranial nerve 1). I am unable to provide you with better answer as there isn't enough information for me to be more specific. Since I don't know where you are in this world, the only thing I can recommend is to seek referral and have consultaiton with a neurosurgeon within the area you live.

      Ninns, hvala na komentaru. Mislim da cu uskoro uspjeti da nadjem malo vremena da ispunim ovu 'zelju'. Zimski semester mi je veoma opterecen tako da nemam bas suvise vremena za ove aktivnosti. Pozdrav

      Pozdrav, doktore!
      Ucenica sam prve godine u Srednjoj medicinskoj, i nemate pojma koliko mi je ovaj video pomogao obzirom da smo poceli sa Lubanjom. Tako da, hvala vam od srca!
      No, pitanje - Imate li mozda negdje sumarizirano sve ovo sto govorite u tezama iliti kracim recenicama? Ili imate li neke savjete kako da anatomiju lakse razumijem, jer nam je profesorica samo dosla i u par recenica rekla kako "Atlas, citajte iz knjige, i to je to!" A nemamo pristup kostima...
      Hvala!
