WOW AWESOME VID!!! Finally a artistic throw net video that seems more about learning the art and not about scraping schools of fish. E Malama I ka wai ola. Oh and that is one AMAZING spot too.

Awesome Vid cousin! At 2:05- we used to swim in that small area. Good memories over there. Our dad was our throw-net master fish catcher.

Wow. Love the technique in the rocks. Learned something. Am studying to build a few nets for myself, curious about the bag style. Mostly for bait, but I have netted a rainbow trout and a flounder on "accident". Too bad I'm 400 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico.

I'm assuming you are Sean's son, and kala Mai if I am wrong but I just want to say it is awesome to see the next generation practicing the culture, I often lose hope when I see how the kids these days act and what they do...but keep on doing it...and teach your kids one day too, the pono ways! Auryte, Hilo boys...till I die!

Back in the early 70s my hawaiian friends considered kala and palani shit fish. Me? I've always loved Tataga (Kala).

+Israel Bowden well you are aware of Fukushima diachi nuclear reactors have gone into meltdown right? So to keep the temperatures from rising they pump Pacific sea water over the rods. That water isn't stored, it's released back into the Pacific ocean. Ocean currents and gyres carry it to you, and eventually the world...a search on this will show you what is going on..

Miami Wax in hawaii the cast net you use in florida will not work. It will get hung up and you will spend the next day fixing the ripped up mess.

We hunt for Reds in October-near Ft. Morgan, Bama. Have fished from Apalachicola to Ft. Morgan-many points in-between. Bon Secour Bay and Dauphin Island are next "learning curves." Salty fishing just kicks tailfin!

The nets we use have pockets instead of pull strings. When you lift the center , the fish mostly get stuck in the pockets. I’ve seen different styles on RUclips but same theory.main thing is teach the next generation and have fun.❤️❤️
