I am a third-generation cocker. I have spent all of my 50 years (so far) breeding raising and caring for them. As well as conditioning, handling, showing them. I have won a lot of major Derbies at Bayou club and all of the other big pits back when legal. My father and grandfather we're all really well connected to moat of the so-called "Legends". My grandfather was Walter Kelso's lifelong best friend, and was one of his pallbearers when Kelso died in 1964. I'm saying all of this just to let people know that I'm not a beginner, I'm not guessing. I like to try to help beginners get into the sport at be successful at it. And I try to help the ones that I helped understand how important our brotherhood with each other is . If we all stick together, it will be legal in the United States again. I don't think this I know it. I've been very politically active since the late 90s. And the tide is starting to turn against the animal rights activists. This is a very good video. I love the way you make this hitch! With this hitch Young stags can be put out without it damaging their spur. Teepees are better than pens for the most part. As long as your yard is safe from predators.

Now for anyone looking for a different way to anchor, here's a little advice. If you just use the little stakes they sell for the tie cords, the little smooth ones that are only 12 in long, under rainy conditions if the cock gets startled and flies against his cord they are bad about pulling out of the ground. Then you've got a couple of ruined birds. If you get you some number 3 (3/8") rebar, take you a piece from 18 in to 24 in long, and bend a hook in one end of it. A vice and a cheater pipe will work wonders helping you with this. When you drive that rebar into the ground, ITS THERE. It will never pull out.

Typical you do not want to put stags on tide chords until their Spurs are "hardened" (this means attached to the bone in the roosters shank, you can tell it's hard and when it will not wiggle anymore.) HOWEVER, with the style of hitch he is making here, you can put stags on them when they are very young!
