That was a tremendous effort by NC State, overcoming adversity--losing a great runner with Kelsey's injury and Katelyn under the weather. What a gutsy effort by all the ladies on this team.

4 Min and 30 seconds of video to cherish for a lifetime!!!! From an Auburn Alum who has run and raced for over 50 years and had the good fortune to be at Panarama Farms on Saturday.....Huge congratulations to the NC State Women for displaying THE BEST example of a "Cross Country TEAM" I have ever witnessed on Race Day. Congrats to your whole program and Go Pack!

Wolfpack alum here. That compliment (best XC team) means a LOT from someone with 50 yrs racing experience. I have always respected Auburn. You guys are similar to NC State in many ways -- going up against the "evil empires" of unc-CHeat and Alabama, who have the media and powers-that-be on their side.

So glad I made it to see these women race in person. From Tuohy to Gapes, they all battled adversity in some form. Being lucky to be included on multiple VA State CC Championship teams in Northern VA and then run with the likes of Olympian John Tuttle and Chris Fox in college, CC took me to some fantastic places and events. The display of the NCSU Women's team on Nov 18th, 2023 tops them all. Each one displayed what the mind and human spirit can accomplish. As Jimmy V said before he passed..."Don't ever give up! Don't ever give up! Don't ever give up!" And NC State's women never gave up. I put them right up there with Thompson, Towe and Burleson! Pack Alum have to be "off the charts" proud! Go Pack! @@northwolf

@@TimMarshall-er9qkTuohy does not look good in the race footage. Was she sick before or during the race? Looks like she was struggling early on. Amazing effort by the team.

Yes. Was obvious even before race. Loosening up, Stephens, Bush, Amaris all strode out several times...Tuohy just lightly skipped from box, moving very slowly and walking out from box a few yards. Henes followed her away from the team and chatted a bit. It was obvious something was up. And when she came by me at 1K with no color and a blank face, it was easy to see. At 4K, she was just hanging on with girls that have never run with her. @@ljn5232

All three have been epic for different reasons: the first because it was the first, the 2nd because of the fine individual performances, and the 3rd because it was the whole team going above and beyond to beat adversity.

Great video! Study the official results to understand that this race could not have been closer. Everybody did their job. Wow. A coaching challenge will be managing the incoming classes to excel without suffering the burden of the recent history of the program. Henes is a great, maybe the greatest coach of all. You can pick up a new low stick. You can get a top three from somewhere else from the portal. But you can't buy a program.

Such an INCREDIBLE team win, with all the adversity faced this season and for this race - Kelsey being out, Katelyn sick, and Amaris and Samantha coming back from injury all season. This program has made Wolfpack Nation so unbelievably proud over the last 4 years!!!

And, wait. When you look at the lineup for this fall, and add Bethany Michalak (NXN #2 in November) and Fiona Smith (5th year transfer from the Bennies; NCAA DIII individual champ in November) a four-peat is not beyond the realm of possibility. And then, in 2025, if everything holds together... Sadie Engelhardt.

I think that's right. I have seen vids of all of Katelyn's greatest races except for two, and I think she will say this was her hardest race of all, and I wonder if she will have nightmares about it for the rest of her life?

012824 I watch this every day. It is a valuable production because I learn something every time. Today I sensed that Katelyn might have hung out in the medical tent long enough for the other 6 racers to present themselves as the possible four-peat. Yeah. Add in the redshirts Angelina Napoleon, Kate Putman, JoJo Quarzo; plus Bethany Michalak (NXN number 2), Fiona Smith (fifth year transfer from the Bennies; NCAA DIII individual champ). Hmmm. Could be Coach Henes has a few cards up her sleeve.

020224 Brilliant production values. I think honoring Katelyn with those valedictory takes was a gracious and heartfelt institutional expression of respect and congratulation to this generational athlete, who embodies what the Wolfpack is all about, who always put the team before herself. I watch this every day. I keep discovering nuances. NC State PR group is fantastically talented.
