    Kobe is truly awesome,playing so relaxed and so much like MJ did from 95-98..so relaxed,letting the game come to them and taking over when need be...they both literally have/had defenders at their mercy. The little things impress me about MJ and KOBE..the fadeaway that both perfected,the use of the off(left)hand,the little tricks on defense..just as close to perfect as you will ever see on a basketball court.

    I would say Magic is. 2nd most triple doubles of all time and he had to retire early. Also jumped center as a rookie against the 76ers and the Doctor when Kareem was hurtin game 6 of the finals. He had 42pts 10 rebounds and 7 assists. One of the greatest single game perfomances outside of Chamberlain's 100 point game.

  • @donnyromo
    @donnyromo 15 лет назад

    He averaged 20 ppg with 41% shooting percentage. And after they moved the 3-point line back on poor Michael he shot an amazing 18.9% from behind the line. I admit I'm impressed.

Just a beast in so many more ways than Dr.Jay, Kobe, Vince shouldn't have even been in the picture....Lebrons or anyone else. MJ is deserving of Goat title. I enjoy watching him play even when he doesn't have the ball in his hands.

    I agree, Kobe doesn't use to have really 'airy' dunks as he had when he was in his teens to his mid to late 20's.
    Kobe slowing down doesn't mean anything though. He's established himself as a legitimate threat on the basketball court and hence his defender/s are (almost) required to react on every single move he makes (because he's that dangerous). Kobe regularly takes advantage of this.

  • @yomasta4ever

    no that's not the way they did the interview. they didn't just show him the pictures. he was asked a question and there was a different picture displayed for every question. the question wasn't about shaq, he just happened to be in that picture. and kobe's mature enough to put grudges aside. like he said, he's changed.

  • @T0mmyPL

    Kobe never was selfish... i think the 3 rings speaks for itself... when he scored 81 he was trying to save the game cause his teammates couldn't score a bucket

  • @NTMIB
    @NTMIB 15 лет назад

    Jordan had to face one of the thoughest defensive teams of all time. The bad boys, byrds celtics, the 90's Knicks, Payton's sonics. Kobe still has to prove he can lead a team to a ring as the main guy. So far, all I saw was a choke in the finals. again, Jordan is known as clutch in the finals, Kobe is known as a choker in the finals.

  • @donnyromo
    @donnyromo 15 лет назад

    I've seen him win 3 championships without Scottie Pippen.(2nd best player in the league during the Bulls' run) I've seen him score 50+ points 5 games in a row. I've seen him score 81 points in regulation compared to Jordan's 69 with overtime. I'm not trying to knock on Michael Jordan. I remember watching Jordan back in the 80s. I never thought I'd live to see someone better. But I am very open minded and I think when Kobe retires he will have been a more complete player.

    IMHO, just the fact that Kobe is so closely tied to Michael Jordan's greatness is sign in and of itself that Kobe is the second greatest player to ever play the game of basketball. We never compare Kobe to Magic, or Kobe to Bird, or Oscar, or even Wilt. i think everyone knows that Kobe is better than the players just mentioned, and the only one in front of him is and always will be MJ....until Kobe wins 7 rings (:

    they're similarities are pretty much the will to win and ability to make big plays when needed.i think Jordan had and edge of getting his teamates to feed of his will and play at a higher level Kobe can do that sometimes and sometimes his teamates lag on him.that and they have a pretty similar jump shot form

    Contrary to what people say,I think Kobe is a humble dude. here,he pays respect to everyone,and even drops his pride to call Michael Jordan "The Master" (although deep down he knows he has gotten to that level of supremacy in the game. It is simple,Kobe is today's Jordan,or more appropriately,The greatest ever basket baller.

  • @ylt34c
    @ylt34c 15 лет назад

    and has made a name for himself there. ur point about a new team winning every year just goes to support my point that the competition is higher than ever. more teams are better and it is harder to dominate in this game today yet kobe somehow does. that is exactly why kobe is better. he averages comparable numbers in a BETTER GAME. i still believe jordan was more clutch, but i don't think kobe has had all the opportunities jordan has had to close games. but like i said, kobe's career isn't over.

    • @grantrmoore
      @grantrmoore 8 лет назад +3

      Maybe.. I think Kobe would be the GOAT if his career would have taken a different path.. Skipping college then sharing the ball with and beefing with shaq.. playing with 100% scrubs in his prime..

    • @jasonlam6773
      @jasonlam6773 7 лет назад +2

      Why does someone's greatness affect someone else's legacy? If Magic Johnson was the GOAT Jordan would be just another player? What an idiotic statement made by such an ill informed individual. Besides, Magic wasn't going to win another championship after the departure of Kareem, it's not as if he would have been able to stop Jordan in the finals anymore. The Lakers got swept 4-1 in the 1991 finals, do you not remember?

  • @donnyromo
    @donnyromo 15 лет назад

    Okay Ive got a great reason that even someone like you should appreciate. In 2008 during an interview Phil Jackson was asked to compare Kobe and Jordan. He said that while Jordan was stronger, and had bigger hands Kobe was a more skilled basketball player. If that doesn't do it for you then you are a robot. He would know better than anyone. It's not hard to find the interview. I'm sure it's on youtube somewhere.

  • @blahblah234blah
    @blahblah234blah 15 лет назад

    First of all when Kobe goes for big numbers, its almost always against weak competition, like the raps, grizz, etc. Jordan did it against elite competition. MJ scored 63 in THE PLAYOFFS against the celtics, 61 and 59 against maybe the best defensive team ever, the pistons. Scored 55 (still the best MSG performance ever) against the Knicks, who were the BEST defensive team in the league that year and after he just came back. Kobe scored 61 on a Knicks team who dont even know what defence means.

  • @Lightclops

  • @NTMIB
    @NTMIB 15 лет назад

    "because i'm sure that had nothing to do with shaq and kobe not liking each other."
    Right and Kobe still playing has nothing to do with Phil's comments regarding who's better between Jordan and Kobe.

  • @blackadam06
    @blackadam06 14 лет назад

    "i mean do you think a person is very old at 31?"
    For this new generation of kids, yeah, it can be considered that because SO MANY players prior to the implementation of the age limit rule(s), were coming in as teens, so their career expectancy has been shortened because of it.
    Kobe said it himself, 30 is the new 35. He should know, he physically is ALREADY is slowing down..U can see it. He has as MUCH mileage on his legs at 31 that MJ had at 35.

  • @BettaWithToast
    @BettaWithToast 14 лет назад

    i said that Kobe watched both Magic and Jordan and while he knows that Jordan was the best player Magic was his favorite player. And just because a player is the best doesn't mean that it has to be your favorite(best and favorites means two different things). And the guy i was responding to said that Jordan was the best in the league since he first step foot in the NBA, so I said that Magic was in the league when Jordan first entered so Jordan wasn't better than Magic he had to earn that.

  • @Edd1e8
    @Edd1e8 14 лет назад

    @kimvaterra - this is what I first thought when I first heard Kobe say that Magic was his favorite player. I think he was simply trying to combat the repeatative "be like Mike" stigma / shadow he inherited.
    If Magic was REALLY his idol, you'd see much more elements of Magic's game: pass first, back to the basket style, uptempo offense, and constantly pushing the ball even off made opponent baskets.
    It's obvious Kobe watched the "me first" ESPN sportcenter style that Jordan invented.

  • @ylt34c
    @ylt34c 15 лет назад

    kobe is in the argument rite now by most at the age of 30 when jordan's career lasted til 36 (+2 if u add the washington years). he has accomplished most of what jordan has in less time. kobe would literally have to accomplish nothing in the next 6 years to fall out. with his team now, it's not unreasonable to think they will win 3 or 4 more championships and in that case it will be even clearer. kobe accomplished all these things without the luck jordan experienced and that is y hes the best.

  • @donnyromo
    @donnyromo 15 лет назад

    Kobe > Jordan
    Most narrow minded people will argue and say Jordan is better because he has 6 rings. Jordan played in a different era on a much much better team. The team was so good that the year after he retired they only won 1 less game during the regular season. The athletes get better and better every year. Jordan was the man for 20 years no doubt but there are already 2 or 3 players in the NBA that are more complete players.

  • @yellowjordan23
    @yellowjordan23 15 лет назад

    The 90's belongs to MICHAEL JORDAN and now, it is Kobe Bryant's turn to stand in the spotlight once more! Why? Because I truly believe that there is nobody in the NBA right now who wants that NBA Championship more than Kobe Bryant!

  • @blackadam06
    @blackadam06 13 лет назад +1

    Steve Nash played 8 seasons under the old defensive rules, and the BEST he ever managed was 9ppg 5apg, no 1st or 2nd Team All NBA selections & NEVER shot 50% in any season. After the rules changed, his avg JUMPED to 17ppg 8apg & has won 2 MVP's, not to mention he's shot 50% from the field EVERY SEASON since LOL!!
    Now ask yourself genius, what league changes its rules to make for more easier & efficient scoring for guys who U say are better?

  • @mjordanisnumber1
    @mjordanisnumber1 14 лет назад

    Kobe was a threat because of the domination from Shaq, leaving him wide open on many shots. Kobe was option 2.
    Magic was not a monster on the stat sheet? I guess practically averaging a triple double goes for not being a monster these days. Instead, we substitute our own perceptions, is that it?
    C'mon, I know stats don't tell the whole story, but thats why we have awards/honors. These aren't based on stats rather, your perceptions. MVP, DPOY, etc. are all opinion based.

    Look at playoff averages as well. Kobe in reg season averages 25.1, 5.3, 4.6 on 45.5%. In playoffs, it goes DOWN to 24.3, 5, 4.6 on 44.5%. Jordan meanwhile in reg season 30.1, 6.2, 5.3 on 49.7%. In playoffs it goes UP to 33.4, 6.4, 5.7 on 48.7% (lil down). Jordan got 63 vs celtcs(maybe best team ever) in second yr after being injured for season? And about competition, Celtics from before or celts now. Pistons or new pistons. And its not like today where a new team wins every yr. So common dawg.

    Having a favortite player is different from knowing who is better among the two. I've already told why I think MJ is better. not to mention Jordan did all of this in a much tougher era. I've seen what Kobe is capable of doing as the leader of his team. So far I've seen 2 first round exits and a choke in the finals. Jordan led his team 6 times, and MJ never choked like Kobe did. Jordan is BY FAR>Kobe.

    "Today's NBA stars have absolutely no problem scoring in any era of the NBA!"
    B4 the defensive rules were changed in '05, ONLY 3 wing players were in the Top 10 in scoring. After the change, that # JUMPED to 11, and they had a 23% INCREASE in scoring & 4% INCREASE in FG%. So where were all of these high scoring wing players B4 the rules changed? Nowhere..
    Kobe's combined avg B4 the rules changed
    561 games - 21.77ppg on 42.2 FG%
    Kobe after the change
    400+ games - 31.75 ppg on 46.4 FG%

    Those numbers are from the 80's and 90's, so they should be validated even more. Those decades had more physical basketball, the teams had better defense than today's team. I think any real NBA fan would know that the NBA has declined in terms of defense. and 'those numbers' are not even close. You cant use the 'different era' argument, #'s are #'s. Seriously, you cant just 'ignore' the #'s, Jordan has better #'s in EVERY STATISTICAL CATEGORY POSSIBLE. not to mention MVP's and Rings as #1 OPTION

    Kobe played 4 yrs in the 90's (almost half the decade) and couldn't score 40 or 50 pts one time..
    The changes to the rules were a life saver for him, as well as the other wing players. It's no secrete that he HATED playing under the old rules. That's why the MAJORITY of his BEST games are against the WORST teams, but NEVER against the best defenses.
    15 of his career 24 50+ pt games were against sub .500 teams (7 with less than 30 wins), and 19 'em came AFTER the defensive rules changed LOL!!
