"So everyday I have a lesson with either Dom or Jimmie I'm pretty sure they draw straws to see who has to teach my terrible hot mess but..." "Probably my favorite thing about these parties is watching all the professional riders get white girl water and listening them complain the next day at work literally my favorite thing" Stephanie is my favorite she is HILARIOUS I died laughing when she said this!!!!
I love that Jimmie got herself a watch!! Good for you! Never ask a woman to shop for just someone else ;) Us horse gals need to accessorize ;) And I know so many horses that love doritoes, as well as lucky charms, fruit loops, eclairs, mint aero bars, corn on the cob, watermelon...the list goes on ;) Oh, and pop--but FYI---NEVER give a horse at a competition any chocolate or pop--the caffeine can show up as a positive on a drug test.
love Evention TV! You should try vlogging! there is no equestrian vlogger and I know I would love to see that, it's a simpler version of what these series are.
Don't worry about getting a gift for yourself when your looking for a gift for someone else. I was recently looking for a birthday present for my friend and my brother and ended up getting 3 things for myself!
I was wondering if you guys could do a video on basic dressage moves like shoulder-in, haunches-in, turns on the forehand, etc. and even maybe how to school flying lead changes?
I adore the fact that they are very successful and talented riders and trainers without spending an insane amount of money for a horse! I always see people at these levels spending at least $40k for a horse, and I love that they set the example that yes, it can be realistic, and you can be successful with a $4000 horse!
+KissableCoosa Okay no stop. They are buying horses that are green and will need a lot of training and may not be able to go to the top for quite a number of years. They are willing to pay 5 grand for horses that are green but have potential. For a horse that wont need as much training and can go straight in to three star comps yes you should expect to pay 40+ grand. You can't be sucessfull with a 4 grand horse. Not with out a lot of training and years of building them up. By the time they are sucessful they are worth 40-100 grand.
+TheNonMakeupGuru You obviously mistook my comment. I am more than aware that these horses are green and need a lot of training; then again many people also aren't looking for as high a caliber horse as they are. Plus, it's easier to train an OTTB for the level that an amateur rides at than at this level. A lot of riders at this level buy these expensive, fancy, well bred horses, not OTTBs for 4k, regardless of training. Compared to a LOT of the equestrian world, this is probably the most genuine, relate-able, and realistic point from professional riders I have seen. Equestrian is labelled as the most expensive sport in the world, and the prices that you think you need to spend on a GOOD horse is a serious misconception. The feeling of "not spending enough" on a horse makes a lot of people feel like crap in this industry because so many people make it seem like a super shitty thing when it's not.
KissableCoosa Okay again stop. No its actually really hard to train horses. Its really hard and an incredibly fickle job as if you do one thing wrong you can completely mess up that horses future. Not to mention its impeccably time consuming. You actually do need to spend a fair hunk of money on a good horse that you don't needto train. That is not a misconception. Yes youcan buy good horses that need work for much cheaper. But in general if you want a good solid horse right off the bat then yes br prepared to drop an easy six grand
+TheNonMakeupGuru So, you're still misunderstanding. I know how easy it is to drop a lot of money on a prospect. In terms of NOT a professional's horse, like an AMATEUR (as I tried to explain) that 4k is a reasonable amount of money in that point of view to spend on a super green bean. I know of trainers that drop upwards of 30k on a horse that isn't broke yet, which can seem discouraging to a lot of nonpros. So in support of what I was saying in my last comment, I will try to explain to you the price tag misconception by using my example of when I was baby shopping last fall! I was prepared to drop 15k on this prospect, so I was looking at a VERY high quality horse. And I looked at horses "worth" that. The funniest thing is that the one that I liked the most and ended up purchasing was a whole $800! He was bred better, 5 panel N/N, and he was far superior in his build (staighter legs, good bone, cute face, gorgeous neck, good hip, and his dam was gorgeous as well, proven sire), and oh, is he the easiest little horse to train that I have EVER worked with! Price does not reflect quality of a horse is essentially what I am getting at. Maybe it does in your mind, and I am sure that if it does I won't change your mind in this comment and it is going to take you finding your super cheap and most perfect prospect in order to change your mind! I wish you luck either way, and hope you don't drop a substantial amount on a mediocre horse like I have in the past with the exact same mind set!
So here I am just assuming you're based in Australia for some reason and then in this episode you say that you're going to Lancaster to buy a present. So I automatically think Lancaster, PA do some research and find out you're just 6 hours away from me. That's awesome!
hello I am new to the horse world I have only been riding for 4 weeks now I was wondering what is the difference between a dressage saddle and a jumping saddle?
Dressage saddles are longer and have a deeper seat, you also ride with longer stirrups. This means you cannot get out of the saddle to jump. A jumping saddle is flatter in the seat then a dressage and has shorter flaps that are also more forward (forwardness depends on height and seat size is also determined this way) so that you can stand above your saddle and stay balanced over a jump. Sizing will vary like I said before depending on height. For example I am 5'9 and about 120-125 lbs so my saddle has a very forward flap for jumping and an extra long flap for dressage to accommodate for my very long legs. Also I have a bigger seat size even though I do not have a large butt, doesn't mean anything other then I needed a size where I can fit my legs and sit comfortably in the middle of the seat. The width of the saddle will depend on your horse, I have an adjustable width, or tree, so that I can ride my three very differently shaped and sized horses.
Does anyone know any good websites I should look at for buying a horse? I'm currently looking for a horse and I need more places to look because there's nothing that I've seen so far that meets my standards. Thanks.
I always wonder who puts thumbs down to any of the videos because they are so awesome, I always learn something and I love you both . Probably some jealous morons that's who😂.
Kim Clark goes around to all the local tracks and has a placemnt service for OTTB's. Some are still on the track and some are off and some are already in training un her farm. Her websites are www.goodhorse.org/ and www.leightonfarm.com/. She's well known here. Good Luck! Love the watch!
This is truly the best equestrian youtube channel. It really creates a good picture of what the equestrian world looks like.
This should seriously be a reality tv show
