this is the first time I've actually seen a story adress the plot hole of adults not believing in santa claus in a world where he does exist. He started the tradition, but at some point other people started following his example - that actually works very well.
I love the idea of Santa existing but no longer being the one who delivers all the presents for the holiday. Instead being parents who were inspired by Santa's actions and kept the tradition going. It's about as much as a real world parallel as you can get, and re-contextualizes the very idea of Santa to me in real life.
"Batman - Santa" sells better than "Justice League meets Santa" or "Santa and Robin" I do agree that DC push Batman to the front of everything to much but there is a reason for that.
Contrary to popular belief, that has nothing to do with it. 😂 I don't like how lots of people treat it as the one time for goodwill and peace on Earth. Not to mention that I'm not a Christian and it's an extremely consumerist and wasteful holiday. Tbh, New Year's is the only holiday that I personally enjoy because even though you shouldn't need a day to decide to make good changes in your life, it admittedly gives a great starting point and a good sense of comradery with so many people coming to make positive changes together and at the same time.
@ that, makes a lot of sense! I’m a Christian myself but I 100% get the disgust with how consumerist it is and how much people treat it like it’s the only holiday this season. Plus it definitely feels weird from a religious perspective that it gets far more attention than Easter, the holiday that the entire religion is based upon. What happens is that Santa breaks through every trap Darkseid sets for him, and then he flees after giving Darkseid a piece of coal every year, evading his attacks. He absolutely is powerful, but that doesn't mean he's Darkseid in power. Hell, Mr. Terrific has basically the same feat. Only Santa does it every year.
Hot take but I think it would be really cool if @comicdrake did a history video or an overview of tmnt comics. I really think he’d like the IDW run especially Happy holidays everyone and wishing y’all the best for this upcoming year 🥳
